Love your work but this is the wrong forum, neh?

[/ QUOTE ]

How is it the wrong forum? Is putting a video in the general forum about as messed up as putting a video in the screenshot forum?

Plus this forum gets far more traffic, cant blame me for wanting to get it out to more people.

Moving this one up for the evening crew.

Read the screenshot forum. They specifically ask you to place videos in there. What is more they have a sticky list of videos there if you contact Aura if you think your video is good.

I will blame you for being a big fat attention [censored] though since you asked

Well I did make a thread there about the video, but I really wanted to get my video out to more people. Guess you got me there.

Actually the second version was quite a bit differant. The song remained the same, as long as a few scenes, but I had to complete recapture all the footage, because the old footage had the GUI present. I also found out how to get higher quality compression.

How did you do the smooth rotations ?

Do you have any idea how cool this is? Seriously, phenomenal! 5 stars for you! Great job.

"Cats" was a broadway play that people went to see over and over
and over again...

It had a very long run, one of the longest.

The person is implying that your video is worth watching
repeatedly.

And to reiterate: How did you do the smooth camera rotations ?

You should see her play Counter-Strike and Warcraft III.

One of two ways to rotate the camera.

1. Hold the middle mouse button (or your mouselook button) and use the arrow keys.

2. Patience and a very steady hand using mouselook with the mouse. I cant count how many times I shot each of the "rotating" scenes. Around 10 captures for each scene I would guess. Either my hand would twitch, or my mouse would catch on the mousepad wrong, ect ect.

But if you are patient enough and have a steady hand you can make those rotating shots.

Regarding rotations, I've never made a video, but I don't use my mouse for anything other than teleporting and opening doors. The relevant commands (for binding or something) are lookup, lookdown, zoomin, zoomout, camrotate (with camrotate on, turnleft and turnright turn the camera around you rather than turning your character). /bind <key> +<command> will work just fine (camrotate is bound to pageup by default, but the other four need to be set up on their own).

Not sure about the arrow keys, but it wouldn't surprise me.

You can set the rate at which you rotate in options.

Whoa, you dont use mouselook at all?

Edit: Just for clarification I meant mouselook in my previous thread, not freelook.

Nope. I don't like using a mouse. (I don't have any powers in my power trays, either, but that's more for fun.) I use q, e, r, f, -, and + (the last two on the numpad, with r, f, subtract, and add bound to +lookup, +lookdown, +zoomin, and +zoomout) to look around, with the default movement.

Reminds me of the first time I played a FPS. I would run around with arrowkeys trying to aim and shoot people.

I noticed quickly other people were able to aim instantly and hit me. I was like, "What the hell - how can they get me so quickly?"

Needless to after a few more rounds I asked. I was told about the 'mouselook' option. OMG, I felt so silly trying to play a FPS with only my directional keys.

You might want to consider setting the rotate speed way down in the options, then using the keyboard. This should give a consistent rotation speed without the need for surgeon's hands.

Filmmakers use dollies for their panning shots instead of handheld cameras. Anything you can do to eliminate shakiness will help.

god damn man... god damn.. that is insanely cool!! 1000/10 from me!

And did anyone else even look at the names in the credits? Look at the stunt doubles' names... is that true, DJ?

**Edit**

Yea this I know now. Thats the downside of being an artist (no matter the venue) you always learn things after the fact.

Like the first version of this video had small portions of the GUI visable, because I did not know you could set a button to turn it off completely.

Now that the second version is done, I realize how I can get super ultra smooth camera rotations. No big deal however, just means my next video will be that much better!

If you mean capture those beautiful rarities (such as his wife) I'm all in agreement. If you mean the video clips well.... ok.
Congratulations to your wife for the great video! (I told you you shouldn't post her picture)

I like the "Ultra" version..was a little saddened by some of the loss of scenes from is older version..but overall a great job.

Now I gotta go and try my hand at this crazyness...

btw I know it would take some taking to do..but you think you can write up a guide of some sorts..maybe get with Gladius as to help lessen the learning curve a bit for us..that imho would be a greater tribute to the community. I ask cuz obviously you did your homework (we all should honestly), but it also sounds like you had help and tips. Me, I use search and see DL this and that but hell if I know what they do and how to use them lol. Oh well just a thought. Great job on the video!
