yeah chees for the input, i played around abit more and reworked some slots... I got what im looking for now
thankyou

Maybe drop back on Defense to 32.5%? the nyou can pop a purp. That will aloow you more room to focus on some real trouble areas. Like your End Drain!!!!!!!!!!! recharge and DPA/DPS For a descent attack chain you want around 120% recharge with at least 1.5 end/second recovery above your useage. Defense is pretty and all and if you as a scrapper can fit it in then go for it. But as a ELA is its very hard to reach softcaps without some sort of Gimping in another area. Remeber that ELA is very good wen it comes to Resistances (bar toxic) and rolling at 32.%% def is good enough for a scrapper that way you can focus on your ST dmg more

Quote:I have no travel power in my Build.... I use Ninja Run+ Lightning refelxes+ Swift+ sprint= nearly SSYour travel powers are still taken way too late. If you exemplar for a task force, you should have a travel power available.
.
Or you can just make a second build of SO's for Exmplaring down? -
If i have farmed with my FM?SR brute you can do it on a ICE.... as for the FA heal well you get Hoarfrost

Ive been playing around on mids for some time now trying to work out what my best path of action is to take on my Broad Sword/ FA scrapper. He is one of the 1st toons i created and wen i made him back in 07 didnt really have any understanding of the game mechanics, of coarse that has changed since then but im alitle stumped on where t ogo from here?
My current build was made for PvP (y? well i wanted to make a toon that was strong in PvP that everyone thought was weak) anyway ive decided to dust him off and make him an effective PvE toon. In mids ive come to the following conclusion.
41.5% S/L defense
45.3% E/NE defense
My theory here is the following:
At 56% resist to S/L and a reduced hit affect of 10% chance to hit and a 5% chance to hit on E/NE is a better sacrafice than
37%resist to E/NE with the opposite?
Im not sure if this is the right move? I Know S/L is the most common dmg type but ive been looking at missions and the varied dmg type in End Game content and think this is a better option for defense than the other way around?
I could i get a second opinion before i comit funds to this build?
Or is there a way to get 45% to all 4 that ive over looked? Mind you i dont want to gimp the build ACC or recharge anymore than i have.
Funds is no real issue since he is already purpled out.... wow you know wen i think about it he only cost me somthing 1billion to fully Purple IO out any way thankyou for any advice in adavance.

What is it your actually looking for? a final Build or advice on how to up your ante with your SG? There is some more info we need to help. What lvl are the friends helping you? Do you door sit with them? Do you wana a guide to WP tanking that you can use so you are suited to team all the way up to 50?
-
Quote:I completely agree with you
It looks like you picked the Cardiac Radial Paragon which increases Fear, Sleep, and Intangibility duration at the cost of less endurance reduction enhancement. You don't have any Fears, Sleeps, or Intangibility powers, so use the Cardiac Core Paragon instead.
Why did you slot the knockback protection IO in Grounded? Grounded already provides knockback protection.
Power Surge would be a better power to take than an unslotted Ice Blast.
.you already have 15pts to KB protection and the added resist you get from the other side of the cardiac tree will boost your resists that little it higher
close to match a INV in S/L resits
What do you want to get out of your build my friend? ELA in my opinion is the best Tank primary in the game. Ok maybe DA is very close??? But i very much prefer my ELA. here is my current build for ELA/SS
http://www.cohplanner.com/mids/downl...63EB7F4C89F1D4
here is my build minus some defense for a travel power

I died twice last night wile being sequested, I was struggeling to lose aggro without drawing seige away from nightstar. So in the end I would get sequested out of the team range with no buffs. 2 tanks on each AV is really the key there. I felt really shameful admirimg the tennis court lastnight
-
What diff do u solo at? Id keep most of your stuff as is and go for perma haste, which brings you to almost perma energize. That will allow you to get nerve alpha instead of cardiac a which will buff your ACC and defense. Since you are one purp insp from softcap that will do you better in the long run. Remeber energize gives a 37% end discount... Better than cardiac. If you can slot the glad wall +3%res to make up for the cardiac t2+ res buff. Your toon should be pretty tank by then
-
like i said to get to softcap it takes sacrafice... how much sacrafice are you willing to make? that was the issue i had with my ELA/Dual blade... so i re-rolled a ELA/SS
-
Quote:this here is my current ELA/SS buildAs a fellow Elec Tanker would you mind putting up your biuld? I am curious to see how you did Soft Cap to S/L/E/NE and didn't find issues else where in the biuld.

Quote:here is the build i made you. Softcapped to a S/L/E/NE with acc above 114% accross the boardHaha, hard to argue when you put it like that.
OK, here's what I've come up with. S/L defense is softcapped now, E/NE at 34%. I'm not seeing a good way to raise energy defense further, but I'm open to ideas. Exemping low would probably suck, I'd be left with Quick Strike and an underslotted Boxing, but I rarely do low-level TFs anyway. For other stuff I could run QS -> CS -> QS -> Gloom -> QS -> Burst/Taunt with about a .1s pause. Everything but Dark Oblit is >90% chance to hit against +3s.
Edit: and once I get the t4 Cardiac I could pull the extra slot from Charged Armor and... do something.
Edit 2: Moved some powers around, and Smashing Blow is useful as an attack again.

Well, it seems your not sure on what you want? The best thing to do is ask yourself what do you want from your ela tank? The best secondairies would be SS/SM variety of ST AND MT mitigation. Aftee all the more you keep them down the safer you are. The heal is a good heal but lacka against certain enemies. The more mitigation you have the better ela shines. Example is my ela/db I cant solo +4 +8 carnies but my ela/ss I can... in the end its up to you and prefrence... Id give WM a go. Wen I get home ill see what I can do in a build for you
-
Depends on how beast you want to be? My Ela has no travel power (ninja run) thats the cost of softcapping the toon to S/L/E/NE I wouldn't trade a dmg debuff for and extra 20mile an hour runs speed. If u slot lightning reflexes, sprint and swift with running ios you ninja run will do u just fine.
-
Quote:Gota agree with you on that one breog, my ela doesnt seem to hurt from the turrets at all. So maybe they are resistable? From what ive seen in the baf its all Energy dmg so id guess the turrets are resistable enery dmg? I could be wrong tho.CMA??
Yeah BAF, 2 tics of 15 damage (not sure if thats a single turret or 2 hitting me) vs my Elec Tanker. Ran 2 Back to back BAF yesterday and saw the same numbers each time I did it. Thats why I wondered if prehaps thier just really big Energy Damage hits. Inv only pack High 25-30ish Energy Resistance vs Elec 90.
Today if I get a chance to run a few more BAFs I'll pay more attention to combat window and see what exzactly its shooting (unresistable or Energy, and the Numbers). -
Quote:Dude, you defense is fine the way it isOn the subject of tanking the new trials... I'm currently sitting at 58.6/50.8/47.1% Melee/Ranged/AoE Defense before buffs, with no nearby allies (Shield Defense), combined with a fair amount of Resistance (I went full Cardiac). Would it be worth the incredibly high cost to squeeze in the Gladiator's Armor +3% Defense or Shield Wall +3% Resistance for the sake of the occasional Incarnate trial, or am I just expecting too much from my tank? Outside of the new trials and a *bad* Apex/Tin Mage, pretty much the only thing that can kill me is the last mission of the STF (Pulling all 4 AV's, or Recluse with the towers up gets a bit painful). I've run only a lone Lambda trial so far, and faceplanted repeatedly on the final battle with Marauder, and I wasn't even taunting him, because we had a tank that had run the trial before present.
So, in my usual long-winded manner, I guess my question is... Is that 3% Defense (Or would the Resistance be better in my case?) worth the 2B or so influence for the sake of a desperate grab for that tiny bit of extra survivability in a rare circumstance, or do I just suck it up and carry greens on Incarnate trials?just make sure you get buffs from the team and carry some greens, purps and oranges for backup. My ELA can tank LR in the STF fine but will still get owned by mauderer (how ever its spelt) if im not being careful. That nova fist is deadly. Id say your tank is fine and the 2bill would be a waste on either.
-
finally got the old ELA/SS in tho new trials. (been busy playing my stone/Rad
) gota say... i cant see any of the issues everyone was afraid about? ive done both now multiple times and everytime was a success. ELA for the win i guess?
-
Quote:I think it would be better to have S/L and E/N at the same level. It is probably not possible for both to be at 45%.
It is possible to get 45% def on all on a elec. Just come down to sacrafice. I have made ELA/ELM softcapped, ELA/DB, ELA/FM and my new main ELA/SS there all been softcapped, just depends on whats better? Personally i find that SS maintains a good continuety with ELA more than the rest. the lack off ACC ou get with slottinf for defence is fixed with rage and the crash is fixed with power sink... all wich maintain great mitigation.... I can make his build softcapped if he likes but he may lose ACC on his attacks.....? -
hey guys. Thankyou very much for all our input. I looked at all the advice ou gave and tweaked a few things to suit
i respeced my stone/rad troller and he is now awesome. Took him on the BAF trial he made mince meat of night star. TY all alot
-
i played around with your build alittle bit to get you close to softcap on S/L and one purp from E/NE ill have another go soon my son is making this hard for me sory man. Hopfully this will push you more in the right direction?

Are funds an issue at all? There are things I would change in your build to add more defense. The closer you are to softcap the smaller the gap in the new content meaning your patron power will assit you with there -tohit
. Also you could get more recharge out of energize by adding one more slot to it and slottin 5 doctered wounds. Power sink doesnt need to be slotted for end drain. I usually slot mine with mocking borament. Since burst has only 8degree radius id be using power sink as a aggro holder plus the end drain is good mitigation. With your aoe's acc is important. Lightning feild is underslotted it needs more acc. Its not going to hold aggro if it misses. Id sugeest eradication? Depends on your funds? Well thats all I can see for now. Im on my cell phone and im limited to what I can access for proper assesment. Ill check back in later

Cheers for the advice, I had fair idea of what to do but wasnt sure on where id wasted slots. I knew id made bad choices in there
wen I get home ill revise my build and try and tweak it some more. Again ty for the help so far it is highly appreciated
P.s local man, im just looking for an all rounder average team support toon cheers guys -
hey guys, im not much of a support type player, i prefer to be the meat shield
but i was wondering if you Trolling genius's could take a look at my stone/rad build. I dont hav alot of funds (ive used alot on my ELA/SS tank) but would like to get a decent troller going for the end game content... i figure a support toon would be nice for a change of pace
thanks in advance... here is my build so far

in my opinion dude. Elc/ss is far supiour to fire... Sure you get a breif 30 second of crazy dmg but ela has some of the best resist in the game. Its the onlyy tank that can boast such high resist without a t9. I know your not going for def with it but if u were to softcap, you become godly... Also the rage crash is easy fixed "power sink" ftw. Ela is my fav tank of all. but hey you need to do what you like
