Fire/SS vs Elec/SS

BigBoss Eyepatch

Been debating which to make lately, any thoughts on why to choose one over the other? I like how the fire/SS gets burn and slightly more damage to compensate for SS's lack of an aoe till 38 (still shedding tears for that, swap KO blow and foot stomp PLEASE/rant) and RoTP to simply not care if I die. However the elec/ss getting lightning reflexes and generally better endurance is nice too. I go thematic, so the fire/ss gets fireball, which is easier making me not have to go redside for a bit, whereas if I do on the elec/ss I get mu for electrifying fences and ball lightning to keep them near me and help better drain their endurance while dealing damage (and yeah, STILL waiting for them to let us customize pool and epic powers *taps foot*)

So here are the 2 builds I was going to use, both would get the spiritual 45% rec/33%healing alpha. I'm sure I could get perma energize with it on the elec/ss. I would be using these builds btw, I can't imagine a suggestion I'd want to change on either, and no i'm not going for defense bonuses.

From personal experince with these types of biulds. Elec is a tougher tank, Fire will do a bit more damage (probley a no brainer).

Elec won't have End issues in the slightest, Fire could.... consume while it does give End back takes longer to recharge, gives less, and has to hit vs Power Sinks auto hitting faster recharge and more End recoveryed. Plus Power Sink is a "drain" so you can sap.

Elec will laugh at Sappers and Carnies.. your Fire will run in terror Kill them before they get you.

Fire is more dependent on its heals then Elec as well. For good or bad *shrug*.

I would say this is definitely a preference thing, which one you feel your going to enjoy more really.

Rage + FE + Footstomp/Burn is just Evil.

My Fire Tanker I went with Energy master for physical prefection since my AoEs recharge so fast I didn't really need Fireball to effectly melt a spawn to the ground. And Physical prefection helps with End, and making Fire Aura a little bit tougher throw Reg.

Also due to Physical Prefections extra End recovery, I ended up Slotting Consume for max Recharge, some damage, and procs. Turning it into a rather effective 3rd AoE that also gave back End. Obliteration sets works pretty good here.

Well depends what I'm doing I guess. It's nice that the fire has ROTP to simply not care if I die. But on the other hand the elec will have vengeance so when other people die woohoo :P.

Can anyone compare the difference in damage of rage + burn, FS, blazing aura and fireball, versus rage + lightning field + FS + electrifying fences + ball lightning + lightning reflexes to make them recharge a bit faster?

I'm still not a fan of how they changed burn, of course I like how it doesn't fear, but the "up front" damage is worse because it has the 5 target cap. At least before it would alternate to any enemy in range so the damage would disperse evenly

I would recommend Elec/SS. Energy damage is big in new content and Elec handles it like nothing else. Plus, it gets some nice exotic resists (end drain, recovery drain & slow). The recharge is just bonus.

I like Fire, but I just like Elec more for current and planned content.

I definately agree. I've been examplaring my lvl 46 electric tank down to help some of my buddies in Praetoria with some clockwork missions of late.

The clockwork may as well be firing blanks at her for all the damage they do! And this is just an SO build at present, not got round to fitting in Set IO's or even common IO's!

Electric is pretty much designed to fend off the more exotic damage types, energy damage is its forte.

in my opinion dude. Elc/ss is far supiour to fire... Sure you get a breif 30 second of crazy dmg but ela has some of the best resist in the game. Its the onlyy tank that can boast such high resist without a t9. I know your not going for def with it but if u were to softcap, you become godly... Also the rage crash is easy fixed "power sink" ftw. Ela is my fav tank of all. but hey you need to do what you like
