Brutes end up wining because they get a higher dmg but at the cost of lower rech. But the thing is, with the recharge is easily shorted quite a bit because of +Rech from sets and enhancements.
For example, With 3 SOs spin gets down to 3.47 and 5.28 rech for a scrapper and brute respectively. But the cast time is still 2.64
So the scrapper can fire their spin off every 6.11 seconds and the brute every 7.92 seconds that's 1.81 seconds faster some attacks animate slower than that...with very low and realistic +rech.
On a brute, in the high end, you want a slow attack that does higher dmg. Because it will become a fast attack that does epic dmg. But a fast attack with low dmg STAYS a fast attack with low dmg due to cast times. Well, actually the mid ground is where you want to be (for example on SS haymaker is a better attack than KoB) and claws is there for all of their attacks...the perfect spot.
A few things to take note of.
Scrapper crits are factored in and averaged by default on mids, fury isnt
FU's cast time is ****** up in mids, its actually the same for brutes and scrappers.
To factor in arcanatime go to option>configuration>effects & math> the bottom left corner the box that says "Use arcanatime for animation times" check it. You will find animation times go up about 0.1 seconds or so. -

Simple answer...no.
But needs some hefty investment with IOs. Of course, NO toon currently in game meets my standards without IOs...so yeah -
Its more important that you have barrier up when you need it, this is mostly true on toons with or DRR. So DO NOT put it on auto.

I believe the only reason people use Fire is because it's a well known thing use against Fire bot in that dumb farm,like Fire/Kin use to be a really big deal on Demon Farms and other types of farms back before AE came out.

*sigh* why dont people get it. Fire cyborg ISNT great for making money. In fact it is hands down the worst farming mish i have come across.
But Neo pretty much said everything that needs to be said. And i actually said this in another thread... NOTHING COMES CLOSE TO FA when it comes to damage. That is why the debate is always the primary powerset never secondary.
But the trade off is that (without IOs at least) it does in fact have pretty much the worst survivability if it cant stop incoming dmg (by killing it) right away. -

That pretty much sums it up. Back with...i18? FA got a huge buff. Burn went from pure crap, and something that you really SHOULD NOT have gotten to "HOLY ****!!!!!! DID YOU SEE THAT? I ONE SHOTTED AN ENTIRE MOB!"* and FE went from a slightly better version of build up, for fire dmg mostly, to one of the single best powers from increasing dmg in the entire game (FS on a kin is the only thing that comes close...but FS ends up making FE better so....) Thus anything/FA became hands down one of the best dmg dealers out there. Its only now that i think people are noticing, i would expect the same thing to happen if a huge buff came to stalkers. People would think stalkers still sucked until they started doing solo hami raids**.
I also think that /FA does REALLY well with the new trials. These mobs hit quite a bit harder, def toons are just ****** without support, packed with quite a bit of exotic forms of dmg. But with FA their prime source of survival...burning stuff to death before it kills you, is just as good as ever. And with barrier they can now get a god mode, crashless i might add, one of the big reasons it used to suck. Oh, and of course the large amount of unresistable dmg, ive seen keyes bring granite/invul tanks (hell even lambda on some of the bad ones) to their knees if they dont have decent support, thankfully FA happens to come with one of the best self heals in the game.
*ok, really only the minions without FE...but still
**granted thats a hell of a lot more impressive than a solo ITF, with iPowers most toons could solo an ITF i would expect -

Uses 3 purple sets but only arm is that expensive. -
I would like to mention that ANY (decent) content SS/fire build would in fact be a great general build. Hell, i PvP with mine, i play the main tank, i solo GMs, solo TFs, and it can even farm pretty damn well (not as good as my pure farming build though).

That build is amazing btw...of course cyborg is a piece of **** mission and is holding you back. :P

Now, i wont be posting my build but this is a cheap one is slapped together pretty quickly. I could see it doing a solo ITF if insp are used an iPower are gotten (this one would need cardiac pretty bad) not sure about 40min or an MO though.

Well, i can solo an MoITF in about 40min (with minimal insp use)...so my vote goes for SS/fire as well.

I actually thing emp is more useful than it has ever been with the increasing amount of unresited dmg.

1) I don’t recommend thinking like this. Brutes aren't the "tank" of CoV. In fact, **** tanking all together. You are here to kill stuff. But i find a brute can "tank" just as good as an actual tanker.
2) its better on scrappers, but its fine on brutes.
3) If you are new to brutes i highly recommend you level up the old fashioned way so you can get a feel for the toon.
4) weave is good. Other useful power pools are generally just the same as any other AT. I highly recommend you get maneuvers...i really think everyone should get that power if they can.
5) You want to slot for end/acc/rech, imo, then dmg. Of course, something like SS or claws will always have quite a bit of +tohit and ive leveled up SS toons without any acc in my attacks. At the lower level don’t worry about dmg but once you get into the higher levels your dpa compared to a critter’s HP really kind of starts to drop.
6) As I mentioned earlier "tanking" is overrated. On a brute it is your job to kill stuff, if your team members are any good they can take care of themselves just fine. You will naturally have quite a bit of aggro levitate to you in the first place. But of course, make sure you never jumo into something that is too much for you.
7) You didn't say "SMASH!!!!!!!!!!!!" at all, thats VERY important.
