However you're looking at, I believe 36 trials to afford everything with Empyrean merits.

If you run 3 trials a day, it's 12 days, so make sure that you succeed in all three trials since one failure of any of the trials (likely with the new anti-matter one for the first couple of weeks) will set you back an additional day.
Three hours (+ setup/wait time) a day for 12 days sounds like a lot to me.

    3. Look at the arc and cut out all streetsweeping and fedex missions. Move the doors to only two possible zones: the zone in which the contact is and the nearest hazard zone.

Oh, snap. Do you really want to compare day job responsibilities? I'm pretty sure I have you beaten. $2 million is maybe one day's production at one of our smaller plants. My team is directly responsible for the vast majority of all of that equipment. I'm not exaggerating when I say that as I sit here typing this, there are literally over 2,700 Windows, AIX, Linux, Sun, Mainframe, and AS/400 servers within 200 feet of me in production service, and that I am watching monitoring tools that watch over literally billions--that's with a b--of software, services, and production activities. I don't particularly want you to know where I work, but if we can agree on a trustworthy objective third party, I'd be thrilled to compare résumés. Personally, I think it's kind of silly, but hey, you're the one who brought it up by taking pot shots at the wiki.
You're comparing day job responsibility while posting on a game forum at work?
  6. I wouldnt pay for it as there is an ingame way to obtain it.

I would buy it like I do most boosters, as I dont mind giving paragon devs money to spend on whiskey and sleazy clubs in return for my pretend time fun games.

I'm glad that there are no badges for trading incarnate merits for rewards. That would of been a poor way to do it imo.
This way I dont feel as much need to get them all
  9. I'll just need your credit card number to put it into. Don't forget the 3 digit security code at the back.

PvP bonuses are kept as well. Some are even cheapish.

I pay some attention to my Doms to having good recharge when lower levels. Some things like LoTG +recharge are easy enough with a-merits to grab at level 25, so that sort of thing i get as low as possible.

It's not a guarantee, no, but it most cases, it's reliable enough to be used as a layer of security. There's no way to be sure that someone else isn't using your debit card and pin number at the store, but that's no reason to do away with that security measure. Same applies here. Just because a security measure isn't perfect doesn't mean it's useless. Also, just because your ISP uses an outdated method of assigning IP addresses that causes NCSoft's security measures to be an inconveniences you also doesn't mean they should do away with the security measures.
Dynamic IP addresses are the norm.

Even more nowdays that the IPv4 address pool has been exhausted.

Many users on cable, have 'sticky dynamic addresses', but these are not permerment IP addresses.

As a security measure, its pretty laughable. As in, any IT security professional would laugh.
I would call it worse than useless, I would state it's insecure by asking the same trite questions that get reused and resued.
I'd state it leads NC in false security as instead of solving the issue of repeated logins accessing other people's account, they have a band aid measure.

All this has been hashed out in Discussion: New Security Update on NCsoft Master Accounts .

That said, you should know the answers to your own security questions. And most people have reported positive experiences dealing with support to regain access to thier account.

They have attempted to time it to screw the fewest people possible, and I'm sure the devs are aware that they are indeed screwing some of their customers out of their playtime, but there's nothing they can really do about it.

I have to admit, it makes sense. If you have no choice but to screw a group of people, it makes more sense to screw 10,000 (generous estimate) than 60,000 (again, a generous estimate).
Part of the issue is tied in with daylight saving changes.
It seems common knowglede (via the dev version of chinese whispers) that the devs have carefully datamined the peak usage etc etc and its often used as a response without any actual thought going into it. Most likely it was a guess by players that thats how it was determined, and since been blindly echo'd as Truth.

This may of been the case when they first determined it. Though in my opinion its still naive to think that population at x time is the only factor, theres also that they need staff on the job to do it, schedules with other games/jobs for those staff etc.

The difference that daylight savings makes changes it from the old 10:30 pm (perfectly fine time imo) to 8:30 pm cuts into a different time of play completly.

It would be interesting to see data how what % of playtime it cuts for people. 'Screwing' %1 of playtime from 60,000 instead of 40% of 10,000 might mean for higher rentention of subscribers, a more important goal for paragon that minimlising the number of people effected by downtimes.

At this stage, thats not going to happen, as it would mean taking away time from thier prime demographic who would complain mightily about it.

The change to only two nights, and Tuesday being less frequently done was a fantastic thing by Paragon. I am really, truely am appreciate of that. I doubt I would be playing if it was like it was a year or two ago, every night at 8:30 the game going down. Things like the infamous 'no maintence needed this thursday' was also great.

I don't expect it to change further. It would be nice if they did datamine again looking at the time usages, esp. with the EU servers joining, but as I also feel its tied into people jobs routines etc.

However, I strongly feel that those effected by it, should be able to say 'hey, this sux for us'.

Wow, the devs sure are mean.
Considering the number of trials required to unlock the A-slot, I'm sure it wont be a case of running a trial once unclocks it for an alt.
And I'm sure you'll need to purchase more than one for more than one character.
So they will be asking to do the trial more than ONCE to unlock it for any other character you create.

  16. I've fixed many (too many) ntlrdr problems with the help of this web page: http://www.tinyempire.com/notes/ntldrismissing.htm

It will guide you through a boot disk and how to copy ntlrdr back on. If thats you're only problem with the HD, it often will fix it, and leave all your HD contents intact.
  17. Not slotting AoE for accuracy as they'll take have damage if I miss anyway.

If everything dropped threads instead of shards, you'd use the alpha thread recipes to make your alpha.

I find making the tier 1 alpha much easier via threads than shards. I use trapdoor over unlocking with iXP though.
  19. Me sometimes. Many times if we are talking paying 555,555 for a IO and I just want to do it from the markert without moving.

Then again, I'll also bid for overnight if I dont intend playing that character straight away, and thank those people that let me buy IOs for under 100k.
  20. Nice Videos Made for good watching.

What originally gave me the idea for fulling procing it was the fun I had in dark astoria tip hunting, landing in large mobs and watching them get confused as they got spontaneously slaughtered by the malaise proc.

Slotting the 5 purples would double the confuse duration for arctic air (13 secs to 25) which is pretty damn good, and recharge faster, and be more accurate which it doesnt need. Plus the 10% recharge which is of course damn nice, but I have 100% plus hasten without it.

The purple chance to confuse goes in either way of course.

Numberswise, that extra 12 seconds confuse duration could really help a lot.
  21. I'm not crazy. Seems hard for you to accept people have other priorties for enjoying this game.
I am nowhere near as single focused on maximizing time to XP/rewards as you are, to the point that you get really angry (your words) over a delay that is likley less than %0.01 of my playtime.
I consider that just strange. And your demand a long running SG to remove base decorations or you'll quit thier group boogles my mind.

    Scrapper Envy?

Agree with a lot of above, and would add, a lot of people's badging characters are scrappers, and they are being worked on first.
