Quote:Particularly if it was available in both versions -- the one that's generally accepted as the standard now, with the rider hanging onto the shaft in front of them and the bristles behind them, and the way that's pretty much fallen out of memory, with the bristle-end forward and a lit candle stuck in the bristles (in the manner of a hobby-horse, with the bristles being the head of the horse):So yeah, broomstick would be killer. And by the way, it's not that there wasn't tech to support Rocketboard; rather, animation time was the major consideration. Would be very curious to ask the animators about the possibility of broomsticks now...

The Talos Island SG portal was moved, not because it would sometimes drop heroes oddly, but because the 'radius of effect' of the tram station and the portal overlapped, so that there was a small area where you could stand to log out and earn both Commuter and Monitor Duty credit. There were also a couple of similar locations redside near the Black Helicopters where you could earn credit for Pilot as well as another day job.

If I remember correctly from SDCC, where I was playing with it once the character I'd created reached Atlas Park, it's one of the Paragon Points tier rewards, available at level 2. It feels as if it has about the same speed, or a little less, than Fly if you get it at level 6, but it does have the downside that it appears to take all your concentration to use it -- you can't use other powers while you're flying on the rocket board (i.e., it's like Walk).

Just like the Astral/Empyrean merit costs for things at the new Incarnate vendors stayed the same from beta to live?

Quote:I've bombed the cutscene, and I'll do it again. But I have a strict set of conditions for doing it:If I warned you first *and* the trial is already doing poorly (ie: failed acids or nades because not everyone was present) then it is a kick.
If I warned you first and the trial is doing fine despite slackers, I won't kick you. I will, however, make use of the note system and am likely never invite you or team with you again.
1) If I'm coming back from the hospital and can't get back into the facility in time to do any good -- i.e., both groups are at 9/10 for their respective collection.
2) If we're done with our collection, and the other group only has one or two left with more than three minutes left on the clock. Any more left, or any less time, and it's better to at least try to help them collect the rest. -
Quote:3. Not in the character creator NCSoft is showing at SDCC, so presumably not.3. Are we certain that Titanic Weapons are NOT in I21 but will instead come out later?
4. We heard a lot about really awesome power proliferation. When is that slated to happen?
5. Aside from Incarnate stuff, what else am I forgetting?
4. With I21, looks like.
5. The character creation UI has a major revamp. You start by picking a 'play style', like 'Support' or 'Control', which takes you to a selection from the archetypes that fall into that category. The body type screen has silhouettes of the three types -- Male, Female, and Huge, and instead of having 'slim', 'normal', 'athletic', etc. as text, they're 'body shape' icons. The costume screen itself is grossly similar, but the style is changed, and things like the 'copy colors across entire costume button have moved. -
There's a similar bug that's cropped up for me now and again where the client fails to load the textures for the health, end, domination, and fury bars, so all you see is the little flash at the end of the bar when it moves. These textures seem to be considered 'automatic' loads by the client, because they're not reloaded when you use the /unloadgfx command to force it to reload the graphics.

Depends on what you want to do for a specific purpose; I have two characters with the Munitions APP that six-slotted LRM with three Dmg/Rng HOs and two Rech and one Acc common IO, which with their having Boost Range from the Energy Manipulation secondary, lets them do 'See that dot?' pulls

Dragging this back up for emphasis. I wish I had thought to demorecord a bit this morning with my Elec/Elec Dom; I was making a run to the Natural store in Talos to sell, and on the way back found a spawn of about a dozen Tsoo doing a shakedown. I fired off Synaptic Overload and watched. It caught every single member of the spawn, resulting in a confused melee, into which I threw Chain Fences and Static Discharge until everyone was down, without a one of them ever attacking me. Admittedly, the character is 50, so it wouldn't have done much even if they had, but it illustrates how Synaptic Overload can be a 100% mitigation power if used intelligently.

Quote:I gave up on sets for it with my TA/Arch and slotted it with the Touch of Lady Grey proc, the Dmg/Rech IO from each of the Air Burst, Detonation, and Positron's Blast sets, the Dmg/Slow from Tempered Readiness, and a common Rech IO.with a tier-3 Spiritual in my Alpha slot, that gets me 117% recharge on it.The next thing you want to go for is recharge to get Oil Slick up as much as possible. There is only so much recharge your going to be able to get without dipping into your defense bonus sets. So you will need incarnates to help you out.
I kind of miss the second of the ways the Touch of Lady Grey proc was bugged during the beta for inventions... Originally, the 'chance for negative damage' really was -- when it went off, it did a negative amount of damage to the target, healing them. When the devs fixed that, it was bugged the other direction, so that when it went off, it did a huge multiple of the target's HP -- my nickname for the IO was 'Touch of Lady Grey: Chance to One-Shot'; I had a Scrapper with this in the beta, and I took him out to test it and got lucky with the proc, literally one-shotting Jurassik, doing "4.28011e+006" points of damage. -

Except perhaps among the people attracted by Freedom who see redside as "If I'm a villain, that completely justifies my ganking in PvP", even though PvP in CoX is set up to minimize player's ability to do that with the autoleveling in PvP zones. This will be followed by the exodus of most of these players once they actually find the PvP zones and discover that they can't run around smacking down other players running characters that they're +25 to...

I am reminded of a line from an article about the board game 'Advanced Squad Leader', where it talked about an interview with a German officer who'd served in Africa, Russia, and France after D-Day, and was asked what he thought about the tactics of the different armies. He said that the Russians were very inflexible, but were willing to throw large numbers of men into carrying through an objective. The British were much more flexible, but tended to respond in the same way to different situations. And the Americans... He said that he wasn't able to form a good opinion of the American tactics and leadership, because it was so hard to see with all the explosions....

Quote:It's not actually from the game; it's from the "Meet the Heavy" video that Valve created -- one of the 'meet the character' series they've released. They're all pretty funny. No, not really. I only recently tried that game when it went free and I haven't heard many quotes out of it, aside from "This feel great, dokta!"

For a while, once they took out the level limits on zones, so you could get into Perez Park where the fortune teller mission always is. But its counterpart redside, IIRC, requires a badge you get from the LRSF.

I wonder whether the XP bonus that is applied to teams may not be capping below league size; the original intent was to make shared XP awards on a team be better than going out and soloing the same mobs, as encouragement to team. If the XP bonus caps at 8 players, then on a 16-player league, you'd be getting 1/16 of the regular XP, plus a bonus amount that would make it just a little better than a solo defeat if you were getting 1/8 of the regular XP... leaving you with (WAG here) ~75% of what you'd get for the same mob solo.

Quote:This was one reason why I ground presents last Winter Event -- so I could have eight level-10 Winter's Gift: 20% Slow Resistance recipes parked on a character to pass out to characters that depended on recharge.125% global recharge is what's needed for hastenless permadom. Even if you got more than that, slows are still going to hurt you. Some slows aren't that strong, but they all last moderate durations. You best bet would be to get a Winter's Gift: 20% Slow Res into your build and to mez/kill them before they can slow you.

Quote:Like the 'rainbow trail' aura that you can buy now with incarnate merits?I have a request for a trail aura: A solid colored line of energy. Ideally it should persist for a second or two.
Like this!
Yup, I'm asking for a trail similar to that of the Powerpuff Girls.
