  1. For NEO and the Fighting pool powers.....I respecced into boxing and tough and made some other changes including picking up taunt, and to be honest I seldom if ever turn on tough. For me it has been a waste of powers and slots, but since I hate respecs [and am now 50] I have not done anything about it to date. I may well respec my INV/SS to a more PvP style build if I ever find one that is....anyway my experience is that Tough is not all it is cracked up to be, but YMMV.
  2. I did not do as well I expected because at times it was impossible to log in to the FREEDOM Server. This meant I had to play alts on other servers, which is fine but it would have been nice to get those levels on the character I wanted to level.

I bet they issued more free codes or reinvited people who had let their accounts lapse. If so, I have to ask why they do these things during events that are supposed to benefit the players? There is no benefit gained when you can't play.
  3. I10 means Bob The Bruiser will have a reason to get up out of his rocking chair and once again defend Paragon City. {I9 all but retired him with the change to Hami, there are no raids anymore [on Freedom]}. I guess I should drag Bob the Bruiser out before then so he can get back in shape.
  4. This is the first I have had time to actually read through and it was quite good. As a tanker I was very pleased to see Aett get his due for all the work he has done on our behalf.

If I wanted to submit a recipe to whom would I submit it.

    Great work folks!
  5. thread brought back from the dead:

This is absolutely the most hilarious guide I have ever read, it out does the Carp Melee Tank thread by leaps and bounds. Sorry fellow tankers, but this one uses actually existing powersets and powers to be hilarious.

Now Repentant you must repent for posting this.
  6. Then I guess there is some hope of getting back the Unspeakable Terror Recipe that I had up for auction that has disappeared. I shall wait and see..
  7. That's an interesting article....since I arrested ARBITER SANDS last week....who the hell let him out?

With the possible exception of Cryptic/NCSoft employees who feed their families via this game, every single human being on the planet has more important things to do than anything game-related. The only thing any reasonable reader finds impressive about such a statement is the enormous size of the stick in your [censored].

This is just the kind of attitude I expected and that has kept me away from PvP in CoH. I would not be the least bit surprised if this is the kind of attitude that will be put forth by the "committee".

It's the same kind of attitude that has been thrown by most PVP'ers when someone lke myself looks for some help in getting into PvP. It's mighty funny that the only person that has offered casual players any kind of constructive advice is the one that resigned from the committee. MIGHTY INTERESTING IF YOU ASK ME.

I still have not passed judgement on the committee but if this is how requests are going to be treated I do not have high hopes for anything constructive coming of it.

The info's in the thread, and a few others - I made a call for communication, and they've started providing it. If you're too lazy to read what's been provided, that's your own issue.

But the gist of it is, they're planning a big event, with lots of PvP fun for everyone.

If this is the attitude of the committee members then it is clear that this PVP committee will be as useful as most committees. [In other words all talk and no action] As I said I will reserve my judgement until such time as they do something to be judged on.

Time will tell if the PVP EVENT will be fun for everyone or not.

In the meantime I will attend an upcoming unsponsored event in the hopes of learning how to get into PvP in CoH in a way that is fun.

Firstly, Ex is a she, not a he.

Secondly, please scroll back through and read the two posts Ex made. You can deem from them what the committee is trying to do.

    [/ QUOTE ]

My apologies to Ex for getting HER gender wrong, not that gender has any importance in this matter.

2: I don' t always have time to go through 7 pages of a thread to find the valid information.

Since I am eating at my desk today i found a few minutes to read it.

I see no need for a committee to run events since people have been running events just fine without one.

I'll reserve my judgement of this committee until I see what it is going to do, especially regarding those of us who have avoided CoX PvP.
  11. FYI: I have not read every posting in this topic.

It has been my experience with committees [from a work stance] is that they get very little done, because they quickly lose focus on their purpose. I personally have no idea what the intended purpose of the PvPec was or is. By the sound of what I am reading here it is not doing what was expected.

    removed 2 paragraphs

Ex-L PLEASE explan the pruprose of this committee to me. No I don't want to hear an explanation from the committee chair or any member of the committee [remember I have little use for committees], I want to hear from Ex-L since I believe he was the one that brought the committee about.

My apologies to anyone who thinks I am being rude.

    Drops II

I personally don't have a problem with the story arc linking for some recipes....suer it would be nice if my soon to be lvl 50 could go back and get some of those rewards, but since I'm not a min/maxer I highly doubt that I am going to feel gimped.

Since I have done all of 1 trial and NO TF's, becuase most of them take too long. Some of us don't more than 3 hours at a time to spend sitting at our computer playing, and In my case I can only spend that much time one night a week. This makes it darn near impossible to do most of the TF's because most people play more often than that. I should find that more of an issue, but it isn't again because I don't find I need the best of the best enhancements to not feel gimped.

I certainly won't complain if there is another way found for me to access those recipes but I'm not going to ask for one to be created either. I will continue to enjoy playing. There are plenty of other powersets to try and of course Kheldians once i get to 50.

    See you in Paragon.
  13. Police scanner Warehouse missions all [yes I said all] have invisible items the block your way at times. I ahve seen this on both my low level toons and my lvl 49 toon. I should have bugged it and will the next time it happens, but I fear it will go the way of the freakshow mission map with the unmappable area that has yet to be fixed in over a year.

RE:CAPES, while I have a caped costume I seldom wear it in missions because I find the cape movement annoying while fighting. I have never crashed while wearing my cape, and in fact the last time I crashed was during the holiday event and it was not cape related.
  14. I guess this'll go the way of the other crossover events for me, in other words I won't get far with it. There never seem to be any villains that want to team.
  15. Amazing none of the devs played CounterStrike thought I'm not sure many people think of that one...
  16. I do believe though rare you can find a Santa Hat by opening presents, but it is a rare find.
  17. I am sure that there has been a problem with taunt effects for some time.

I just wonder how I managed to get so many kudos for my tanking when Invincibility wasn't working well and I didn't have Taunt. [I now have taunt and it has proven invaluable on smaller teams and in AV fights].
  18. I recently made a new toon on the Champion server called Juptonian and used the Alien head [he is from Jupiter after all] and a Hood. The problem is that on top of the hood you can see his head in two spots.

Not a big deal really but I thought I should mention it.

    Another possible base for inclusion:

    The Minimum Teleport Base:

Oversight Room (50,000) + Starter Combo Power and Control Unit (25,000)
    Teleport Room [2x2] (150,000) + 2 Teleporters (30,000) + 4 Teleport Beacons (40,000)

You will have to use a worktable in the oversight room and sell it when you're done making the teleporters, but this gives you a base with 4 teleport destinations for the low, low price of 295,000 prestige.

Not bad for right out of the box...

    [/ QUOTE ]

This does not include storage units or empowerment station correct?

    Team Invince

I think you have proven one thing based on what you and other team members have said.

Running through CoH with the "perfect" team will become tedious and boring.

Since many people who have 50's say it is boring after the second or 3rd time thru I guess I'd prefer the way I am getting thru the game. A lot of Soloing and most of my grouping in the supposedly dreaded PUG's, the other grouping with my 2 SG mates.
  21. As others have said it is a great guide. (I knew what you were talking about when you used the term "Natural Concept")

I would like to know your opinion on taking Hasten. It seems to me that for certain things like AR/Katana/Martial Arts/Mace, and others that it is quite possible to become faster through sheer repetition.

Here's a couple of other "heroes" that fit as well:
[I realize you couldn't possibly mention them all, I can't even remember all of them myself]

    The Shadow
    Green Hornet

    Great guide IMO...YMMV

    11) The Gauntlet buff icon is a placebo; there is no real power behind it. The effects of Gauntlet are built into each power.

    [/ QUOTE ]

This is not meant to create another problem, but as a tanker I have to say this.

If this is the case, then Tankers don't really posess an inherent power like other AT's do, and the fact that Brutes have taunt built into their attacks and have Fury is just a slap in the face for Tanks. IMHO.

    No I'm not asking for them to give Tanks anything that will "unbalance" the system. {thought I haven't figured out where they see any balance.}

Just had to put in my $.02 influence..
  23. So the small SG I belong to which has just under 400K should be able to build base 1 and still have prestige left for rent payments.....

Thank you for a very useful guide.

Here's another thought to chew on. What party, Republican or Democrat, seems to be infringing on our freedoms more? While it may seem the ones coming from the right are more numerous, we actually get more restrictions from the left. The ones coming from the right tend to be more about national security while the ones from the left tend to be more domestic issues. One example that is affecting just the gaming comminity is that we got bills going through Congress that will make games such as CoH or other violent games be unable to be sold. There's a restriction on our freedoms right there. Just look around the country and you'll see plenty of our freedoms being restricted on the basis of "equality" for all. As for brainwashing tools for different sides of the government, what do you think the liberal media has done?

    [/ QUOTE ]

I am commenting solely on "bills going through Congress that will make games such as CoH or other violent games be unable to be sold."

These bills exist solely on the misguided belief of "extremists" [probably not the word I should use] in America that believe violent video games are the cause of the increased violence among the youth of America. I have been playing "violent" video games for many, many years [I'll be 47 this year] and I personally have no use for guns, and the only violence I use is to defend myself. If video games were the root cause of the violence amongst today's youth then I would expect more people my age to be similarly violent. The facts do not bear out the reasoning behind these bills.

I believe the real problem with today's youth is lack of parental supervision. I know for a fact that there a children out there whose parents have no idea where they are, and truthfully do not care as long as they are not bothering them. A large part of their environment is therefore missing, and thus a great deal of moral values are missing. It's for America's parents to take responsibility for the actions of their children. What part violent video games plays in this can be controlled them, since common sense should tell most people that a game is not real life.

    ***DONS FLAME PROOF SUIT***

    [/ QUOTE ]

why the flame proof suit? parents are the things that should be watching what their kids are doing, not the government. the majority of these bills based off of the possibility they might cause kids to shoot others just takes away accountability and responsibility from the person who did the deed. if some kid shoots up others and people blame it on the games he played, how did he get the game in the first place? most likely because his parents bought it and didn't pay attention to what was going in their kid's head.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I donned the suit because I have had this discussion with other people and been blasted for my opinion that parents need to take more responsibility for the way their children act.
[those discussion were not on this board, they were face to face. It was such fun.]
