Quote:Yes but it doesn't need to be the same group every time. And if it is to be the group why the hell should we pay the same money for this game that you do when we get less for it.You answered your own question in that sentence, before you even finished asking it. Assuming that SOMEONE has to be disadvantaged (and someone most surely does), then they try to make it the smallest number of people possible.
Quote:Now, while it is reasonable to ask why they can't spread the pain around, we return to the simple fact that the work has to be done during U.S. business hours since that's where the company is located. Can they pay someone extra to do the work during 'off' hours? Sure, for an emergency. Will they pay that on a regular basis? No. It's nothing personal and 'fairness' isn't a consideration. It's a money decision.
And anyway we're not even asking them to pay for overtime for this. Shifting the time around during the standard eight hour day would be plenty. Surely not a big ask? -
Quote:Sorry but there is major flaw in that argument. We may be a smaller segment of their customer base but we are paying the exact same as you for this game so why should we have less consideration?Yeah, that sucks.
But they have to do it SOMETIME. No matter when they decide to do their maintenance they're going to be inconveniencing SOMEONE.
It simply makes the most sense to time it so it inconveniences the fewest people possible.
NCSoft are happy to take money from people in different time zones shouldn't that also mean they could use some of that extra income to do work out of hours so that we aren't the ones constantly being kicked off? And even if they didn't do it out of hours theres a six hour block during the workday that this work could be moved around in without paying any overtime. Either that or charge us less for the incovenience of it always being us that gets shafted.
I know you yanks think we are just winging but consider this. In the last three weeks 70% of the times my mates and I have tried to play we've been kicked off for a shutdown. There would be a meltdown if that happened to the main playerbase. Yet some of you have the temerity to come into these threads about it saying "thats the way it is deal with it". Our $15 a month gives us a right to voice our concerns to NCSoft just as yours does you. -
Quote:All decent points Lemur. Which unfortunately don't mean a hell of a lot when for us down under 4 out of the last 5 times we've tried to play the server has shutdown right in the middle of our prime playing time.At least one maintenance was cleanup from DXP. Another was probably "normal" maintenance. This one is seemingly the most recent patch coming from Test Server.
Truthfully though, people ought to think about it a bit before they get huffy and complain. The devs have clearly been in the process of ramping things up and implementing fixes since the Anniversary event/stress test in May.
They seem to be working hard to finally fix several long standing issues/complaints. Lag Valley on the ITF is gone. Last night I was on a 24man BAF that had less slowdown and lag than I have ever seen. Basically, for all the times people begged them to take a serious look at this stuff, they're finally doing it. I for one say bring it on.
And as usual when this complaint comes up, I'd like to note that even if it were daily, this game ends up with less downtime than any other MMO I've seen, including the big bad 800lb gorilla.
When you also count the fact that for two of my mates and myself rearranged our lives to play together on the initial DXP weekend to find it suddenly moved to dates none of us could play at all it makes all the reasonable excuses under the sun very ineffective. -
Yes thats normal. You are always charged influence whenever you make changes to your costumes in the tailor. You can of course use one of your tailor tokens instead.

I can't speak for Masterminds as thats one set I'm not all that familiar with but with many of the other AT's three slotting stamina will not fix all possible endurance problems. It will certainly help but for most power sets it will not stop you having to keep an eye on your endurance. Oh and it is rarely worth while slotting anything with four slots of any one kind. With diminishing returns the fourth slot will get you one or two percent extra at best.

Dammit to hell. I transferred two characters last week. Which I had been putting off for weeks in the hope they would do this again. One blasted week off.

Quote:Naive comments like this drive me wild. Not everyone wants to spend their entire time playing the game waiting for bids in WW to go off. When we get to the point where we want to set out our characters we may have over a hundred or so recipes to make enhancements to fill all our slots. And each one of those recipes may require 4 or 5 salvage purchases. Now as we only have a limited amount of slots to use in WW imagine how long it would take us to make all those recipes if we forced ourselves to wait for every piece of blasted salvage that way. People who play the game only a few hours each week don't want to spend half that time checking WW and putting in their next 20 bids. Not the mention the weeks or months it will take to set out a toon that way.Does it make any sense at all to blame others for greed, when the only one that controls how much you pay for something is you?
Marketeers make their billions by screwing over the casual player. And worse they even have the nerve the blame their victims for being impatient. The comeback "you don't have to pay these prices" does not absolve you from setting them so high in the first place.
The seller sets the price. Simple as that. He may not get any buyers but he still sets it. He may then reduce it till he gets buyers but he is still setting the price. If the buyer was then items would be selling for a lot less than they seem to end up being traded for. -
It certainly used to be. Since Going Rogue though the number of Aussies playing on Justice has dropped dramatically. It's gotten to the point that a mate and I have taken advantage of the half price period and transferred our two main toons from there to Freedom.

Thanks for that StarGeek. It looks like we've just been really unlucky.
-
As the subject says. Over the last several weeks a friend and I have been extensively playing our level 50 toons and for the most part doing tip missions and the drops have been abyssmal. Most importantly though niether of us has had a single purple recipe drop. I know it's random but prior to this at the rate we were playing we had at least one drop per month between us.
Have we just been unlucky or don't they occur in tip missions? -
Yes I realised it was there too.
It just like less of an inconvenience because you could almost double click the button on the screen prior to it to start the game. I'd still like to know why we have it forced on us though.

Quote:This ^^^^^^Now if I can just get rid of the agreement having to be done every time I would be really happy.
Why the hell do we have to agree to the terms and conditions EVERY time we play? You only need to agree to them once for crying out loud. It should not ask you again unless they have changed.
No other game or program I have ever played/used has forced you to agree to them every single time. There can't be any legal reason for this or they would all do it. -
This pack is of no interest to me.... however for the first time in a while it looks like it contains value for money. I'm sure a lot of people will get a lot of milage out of it.

Ahh thanks Honbrid. I latched on to the wrong end of the stick.
Thanks for all the info guys. It's been very usefull. -
This confuses me. Since it takes more than 24 hours to get the second merit doesn't that mean that the first is invalid? Also wouldn't it have been nice for a message to pop up saying I only have XX hours to spend said merit? How else would I know about it?
-
Thank you very much Humility. Much appreciated.
-
I've spent ages searching but I have found no good definitive page on the subject so I have a couple of questions to fill in the gaps in my knowledge on the subject.
A friend and I did the ten tip missions plus the alignment one and while I got a villain merit he got 50 normal ones. Is this a random thing or did he do something wrong?
Also where do you go to redeem them? I tried the normal merit vendor but could not see a method of using it. Or do you need to have at least two to be able to?
Thanks in advance. -
I don't suppose you could make it available without having to register with the site? It's a superb addon but it's a bit annoying having to go through a registration process for a site that I will rarely visit. Not a massive inconvenience I know but it adds yet another registration to keep track of and even more emails to fill my inbox.

I don't think I have ever seen so much effort to rationalise a morally ambiguous act. By their own admission marketers end up stinking rich. Which means people are paying more than they need to without you. That 600 million per day doesn' come out of thin air it comes from the virtual pockets of other players.
Okay so you add a little stability to the price ranges. This stability obviously comes at a great cost to the rest of us or else how could you make so much money doing it?
You guys have fun playing the market and this is a game so go for it. But for crying out loud stop trying to sell us on the fact you're the good guys. The cold hard facts are for every hundred million you make out of the markets is a hundred million the rest of us had to pay more than we really had to. -
Not even close to being true. On average I spend around the 300 mill mark to apply full sets to most powers. I will always buy recipes rather than crafted when available but it is certainly doable with that amount of money.
Now this of course doesn't mean you can't spend billions setting out a character but you certainly fill up a toon with decent sets for under 400M. No purples obviously or the odd really expensive unique but enough to make most toons able to waltz through missions. -
-
That happens if the store is down at the time you tried to create a new character. Any slot beyond the first twelve is linked to the online store and if it is down it makes any currently unused ones unavailable. Once it comes back online you will be able to access them again.

Despite what you might think don't expect the dark heal to be of much use. The first time I rolled my demon I tried Dark but the demons are so spread out and move so fast trying to get one within the Dark heals very poor radius is very difficult.

Thats a point MB I'd almost forgot about those. Add to his list red arrows showing up during the "final objective" phase for enemies that don't exist. Resulting in time spent looking for something that isn't there.
Also is there some rule as to when they appear at the end of missions? It seems to only happen in about 20-25% of missions.
