  1. im not saying that it cant be stealthy, but between the huge blocks of armor rice that forms on you that would seem to make youa lot easier to see and the loud crackling that tends to accompany ice armor on my tank, it would be a little immersion thing that would bug me, but i still want one.
  2. id make one, i love ice characters. only problem i can think of, and this is purely thematic, is that stalker defensive sets tend to be the non bulky armors, and i can see the bulky ice block armor being a bit conceptually scratchy with stalkers, but id play one in a heartbeat.
  3. no way i hell man, usually if a find a guy playing strange and notice he hasnt got any vet badges, i try to do as much as i can to get them started. found one guy who reactivated and was playing dual blades, but nobody told him about combos...I would like to think he left our time happier for having had a talk with me. but heck yeah, throw me the newbs, without them our game dies.

Personally though, i find I enjoy my main character much more now that I have nothing to work towards with her. I can just do whatever I feel like doing in game and not care about my reward/time ratios.

[/ QUOTE ] he-he, horrible paraphrase time: "freedom's really just a word for nothing left to do"

What do you do once you have a level 50 with all purple IO sets in every power?

[/ QUOTE ]make an alt or keep playing with your new power level. got all the accolades?

EDIT: got a base? how cool does it look? could it look cooler? that gave my friends and i something to do, hit the base subforum, those nutcases have made some amazing stuff with the limited system. oh and have you made some meaningful ae content? chop-chop, i have a long weekend, and i'm expecting gaimen meets bruckheimer.
  6. If we are talking about a subjective amount of fun, then i like mowing down big groups of minions and lieuts, it just feels super to me, hell, id take a mode where they tripled the spawns and disabled the exp, just to see the bodies fly when rian gets going, or a minor forest grow when vio hits creepers, vines and roots. that would be the reward, bugger exp.

edit: and no, fighting greys doesn't count, i want to be able to die in the fight, just not likely.

I got tired of hearing it too. Most of this seems to come from people who left here bitter, or others who mindlessly jump onto a brand new bandwagon every time it starts.

It was an interesting post, however.

CO isn't ready to kill anything yet.

    I Wish [Forum]

    [ QUOTE ]
    I wish...

[/ QUOTE ]well that took all of 6 minutes. I dont really have any wishes, it would have been better thematically if i had made seraph blue an emp/archery, but i had fun playing her for the interim time between launch and issue 5, so the trade off isnt that bad. beyond that, i got nothing.

.... wait'll you meet Romulus and his Pet Nicti Recluse and his henchpeople are so many small, purring kittens compared to that Triad of Terror.

[/ QUOTE ]? really? i havent run a stf yet, because im lazy, but i have yet to see rommy not fall to a standard ground and pound. i mean, yeah his resurrection stun can be annoying, but last time even that wasn't as bad(with my 39 ice tank) so maybe it can be tough, but i must really be lucky, because my experience differed. of course, when you have 2 brutes with stacked fortitude, recovery aura and adrenaline boost, as i did one one run, you can do insane things

Maybe you should wonder WHY they're leaving bitter.
    Maybe the devs should too.

    [/ QUOTE ]

[snark] Yes, because they, like, NEVER come to the boards and SAY why they're bitter and leaving (repeatedly)! This is mysterious and unknown information! [/snark]

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well, given the OP's post and the resounding chorus of "YEAH! You tell 'em, Mr. Hypocrite!", leaving a few parting thoughts doesn't appear to be encouraged.

[/ QUOTE ]you know, i wonder some times if you read posts or just look at it through a dense filter of victimization. people arent saying dont let the developers know when a problem becomes intolerable for you, theya re saying eb constructive, and dont run out screaming about how you cant wait for the game to die(as a number of members of a specific subset of the community did in regards to warhammer) really, at what point are these simple aspects of common decency foreign to people, just because you are paying for something does not mean that basic social rules are not still in play, neither is because you are "honest" or "not sugar coating things" its just being a jerk and the worst perpetrators(which does not include you ) are the ones that the initial post was aimed at and the irritation from seeing their venomous screeds time after time after time is what galvanizes people in the way that you have noted. to summarize, parting thoughs, perfectly acceptable, parting SHOTS... what does basic common sense tell you?

Doing the Midnighter and Cimerora storylines tend to indicate, with the "lost origin," that they've started working that little snag out.

    [/ QUOTE ]

In my opinion, the mention of them in the arcs was to keep the ball in play. I don't think they really know what do to with it yet.

People have expectations on Incarnates because of the lore that I don't think the game will be able to facilitate.

If they were going to tackle them, the expansion would have been the time if they hadn't gone in the direction they have. I'm all but certain they aren't going to be in Going Rogue, because if they were they'd be hyping the heck out of that angle and there was ZERO mention of them in the survey for the expansion.

    .

[/ QUOTE ]honestly we dont exactly know when they planned on releasing the info on going rogue. thus far it seems that the emails that set it all off on monday were not intended and they have kind of had a scramble. E3 is about 2 weeks off, and I.m guessing that there is a better than average chance that rogue was supposed to be announced then, and when the full INTENDED release announcement of going rogue hits, i expect we may see a lot more surprises than just 2 powersets, a bunch of new zones, and the alignment bar. Posi's own comment own he topic was that the marketing guys are the ones who control the flow of info, and that there is more info, so they couldnt say if they wanted to. so lets remember that they are a business and give them time to get this info out as such.
  12. ok cool, i figured it looked like it, but as i said this IS an mmo forum and...ya know...
  13. [ QUOTE ]
I dream of a nerfless game, where when one set outperforms the others, instead of slightly reducing the power of that set, you simply buff EVERY OTHER SET. Then when you introduce a new set (Willpower) that turns out to be stronger, you simply buff FIFTEEN OTHER SETS. And you keep doing this until all sets are capable of soloing Hamidon, and you have to adjust the power of every single enemy in the entire game just so that they can keep up, and we end up with enemies that deal damage in the thousands with regular hits just so all the numbers balance out.

That would be way better than having to suffer "nerfs" !!!

[/ QUOTE ]i hate to have to ask this, but this is an mmo forum, so...this was intentionally ironic, right?

edit, oh and am i sick of nerfs..well, lets see, my main is a ma scrapper, a set that got buffed a bit ago, hes also a sr which got some nerfs but also got some really good io bonuses in issue 9, and the elusivity buff, so lets call that a wash, and a plant dom, who is getting a buff in the next issue apparently, but already god a very good fix back in the day when mez resistance was added to domination. so yeah, not feeling significantly nerfed here, also my keld and stalker feel a good bit more robust than on their start dates as well. in fact the devs seem to be throwing me some nice upward adjustments on my powers quite regularly, so if this is nerfing, nerf my (self-censored) and call me sally.
  14. you are thinking of going rogue's timeframe? my guess is i15 hits in early june, and rogue hits in november or october.
  15. [ QUOTE ]

The point is, we don't know. It's a bold claim to say that the game will remain stable. Moreover, it's wishful thinking. I sincerely doubt any subscriber base has foretold its own death knell. Sooner or later, this game will die; whether in a year or ten years, it will die. Do you really think any of you people will admit to the truth when the time really does come, even with direct evidence staring you in the face? My guess is: not likely.

[/ QUOTE ]heres the rub, there are real, reasonable times when people can see the end near, heck, had the email not come out a while ago hinting to what we now know is going rogue, i was getting worried for coh myself, as 08 was not exactly a banner year content wise. but the posts that phil seems to be addessing are the ones that invariably pop up when a decision is made that disagrees with a particular poster's pet activity, and they predict coh's doom just before shaking the dust from their feet and canceling their "9 accounts". the thing is that every game makes decisions that inconvenience some subset of the player population, and saying that adjusting a particular element of the game will send the population numbers plunging as people make a mass exodus to a competitor is not a rational statement, its a fit of peevishness fit for a petulant 5 year old. I talk of my leaving final fantasy 11, because specific mechanics of the game really ticked me off, but i never did the banshee wail of the mildly inconvenienced customer, because its silly and childish, if stuff is bad, go and find something good, but leave with dignity.
  16. [ QUOTE ]

Edit: Whoa, M_B... that search tip in your sig is a life-changer. I never knew that.

[/ QUOTE ]I didnt know that either, that will help a lot. as for phil, yeah, i agree with most of that.
  17. im more interested in the alignment bar than actually switching sides. Partially because vills do have access to different content than heroes, and i'd like to preserve that, but also because of how many of my redsiders are written, they may be good, but distrust of the paragon inhabitants or self imposed exile prevents them fromfully turning, but its better this way because i still will have access to vill stuff even though i dont care for playing villains in any game i play(such as morrowind, kotor, fallout, and the like.) I will probably have to create soem new characters just to turn because right now it wouldnt make sense to do so..though i would really like to see the exemplary hero/vill thing, making rian more than good, or terra(my night widow) more than evil, that could be intriguing.

So, is this the Coming Storm?

[/ QUOTE ]I dont think so. In the positron interviews that were posted a bit ago, he said the coming storm was a long way off. and we know from the last kheldian in oro that the coming storm involved some kind of invaders who used ships powered by significantly inconvenienced kheldians, which, while possibly tyrant doesn't seem to be his technological m.o.

We're sitting in a meeting and our Development Director said "We've contracted some Type R programmers".

I had never heard this term before, so I jotted it down on my notepad, so I could inquire about it later.

Just then our Lead Engineer asks "What is Type R?"

Our Dev Director looked stumped. "What do you mean?"

"You said 'Type R Programmers'" said the Lead Engineer.

"No, I said 'High Powered'." said the Dev Director.

"No you didn't. You said 'Type R.' See I wrote it down." I said, and showed him my notepad that said "Type R?".

So now, everything high powered and awesome in the office is "Type R".

I am now on a crusade to get it used outside our offices. I should add it to urban dictionary or something.

[/ QUOTE ]so...have you ever played r-type? its a fun shooter, lots of big enemy bosses and over the top weapons.
  20. eh, r-type is more a pattern shooter than a twitch shooter anyhow.

I really wish we had open world content in CoX.

the zones are richly detailed for us to ignore as we head to our door mission.

[/ QUOTE ]only if you choose to. you know what i love doing villside? going to the haunted fort and catching pirates in those ghost traps. Having interesting zone specific events(which MUST be raid coded) is quite a lot of fun, and doesnt distract from the flow of the game proper, it just gives you more options to how you want to play the game. In all these years since it came out, i have not ignored a fire alarm in steel while solo, making stuff like that would improve the superhero feel of the game significantly.
  22. a number of water based sets, a blast,a buff set,a control, an assault, a defensive set, and a melee set, though apparently water is a bugger to render, so ill keep faking it with energy blast.
  23. cool, i work nightshift, so i can make it.
