After the buzz wore off from watching the Going Rogue trailer and now being mired in anticipatory glee, something occurred to me. Statesman and Desdemona are looking at the view screen which is displaying another city full of heroes and villains that "looks like paradise". And that other city happens to be ruled by an evil Statesman. Coincidence or a little jab at the competition?

Don't know if it was intentional, but yes it crossed my mind as well and I chuckled at it.

Be well, people of CoH.

Ya know, I thought that too. Looks more advanced than our Paragon City.

Praetoria does look more futuristic... just like Millennium City, but I highly doubt the comparison is intentional.

One would presume, due to various differences in the dimensions, that Praetoria has not had to deal with Rikti invasions and villain sabotage. When you rule with an iron fist, you can keep things as clean as you want to in your HQ. I would presume there are slums and hovels where the freedom fighters of Praetoria reside.

The trains run on time.

The slums are covered by holograms to look like luxury housing.

I did not think about it that way but I definitely think it be interpreted like that. Either way, I love that we are now analyzing the subtext of video game preview trailer. Just further proof that there is a great deal of devotion to CoH.

Praetoria did have a Rikti invasion. But the general assumption is that they fended it off much better, being ruthless and all.

Is there evidence of this? Given the scenario that lead to our Rikti invasion (I'm trying to avoid spoilers) I sincerely doubt the Rikti would have invaded - unless it was for another reason entirely...

Posting something like that, I think we're more likely to get a [censored] storm

I can't help what comes to mind with simple word pairings. Tell the TV to stop airing the one, and my friends to stop posting the other all the time. Lol.

Surely they wouldn't be callous enough to ramp up expectations for the ongoing plot then finish it in a paid expansion.

Frankly, I like the idea of having a nice, separate plot. Not everything has to be about the Coming Storm.

I'd like the Coming Storm to actually arrive.

There's a chance that Maelstrom is tied into the Coming Storm- the name has a certain link to it. Perhaps the Coming Storm is a City of Dual Pistol Blasters. Or a Battalion of Dual Pistol Blasters. :-)

If Ouroboros is to be believed, the Coming Storm is an invasion of some sort. And though we don't have all the details, it seems that it may have to do with Shivans.

Without giving out spoilers, and keeping in mind how Parallel Worlds work in the CoH universe (a much greater range of differences between worlds, and fewer 'omg they're just like us but coin flips have opposite outcomes!'), it seems to be that it would be VERY unlikely that Preatorian Earth suffered a Rikti Invasion, let alone even got the attention of the Rikti.

Considering the storylines about Praetoria and it's utopian status thanks to being ruled by Tyrant have been in the game since Issue 1, no I don't think it's a jab at the competition since the place was created under said competition's watch. I'm just wondering when the video actually takes place since the fact that there is a story arc that has Tyrant capturing Statesman and taking him to Praetoria in the game already, it'd be kinda weird for them to be acting like it's the first time they've seen the place if it is in the present.

Maybe Praetorian you-know-who asked the Praetorian /Rikti to help him defeat Tyrant? And they invaded, not to take over but to liberate Praetoria?

Just a random thought.

Praetoria probably hasn't suffered a Rikti invasion because the Rikti were an entirely separate dimension until <BIG PLOT TWIST FROM SEVERAL ISSUES AGO>. Not every dimension would see comparative acts occur - it's just that Primal Earth and Praetorian Earth appear to be dark mirrors regarding people.

I did have the thought just then that the Praetorian Nemesis could be ... Emperor Cole.

1) He usurped Tyrant in a secret coup and has been controlling the world ever since.

2) It also means what Tyrant does with Dominatrix suddenly gets less icky.

I'd say it's a fairly recent event, i.e. after his rescue from Praetoria. Statesman himself doesn't seem to express any kind of surprise about the appearance, only Desdemona does. I would assume that she's only just turned up after defecting from the Rogue Isles and States is briefing her on Tyrant and his world. Could be the situation is caused by Maelstrom leaving the blues and joining Tyrant's group, providing them with the info they need to start a large scale attack.
