    'priest' collar?

for rian i use spiked collar and a dress shirt. the spikes are visable only form very close.
  4. pain, drudgery, restricted gameplay, recurring fees, and a broken series of priorities in the gaming community.

(and yes, i know im playing an mmo, only by virtue of coh's quality do i stay, i dislike the genre immensely)

Just FYI, some more changes coming to the Ninja Run animations in the near future:
    • Going to look at the deformation in the spine during some of the jump moves. Looks especially odd on some of the female models because of how the geometry is built/weighted
    • Dual Pistols/Claws will be getting a more appropriate set of animations (namely the ready stance and runs)
    • "Shotgun" mode will be getting a more appropriate set of animations.
    • Shield combat mode (without a weapon) will be getting a more appropriate set of animations.

Jay and Cheryl are also looking into various issues with costume pieces.
grat, glad you are doing this. usually i assume that the packs are kind of sold "As-is" hate to add a beg, but would there be a way to seperate the fur from magic boleros? the wing really works for a mermaid character i have, but that fur just breaks theme, could i beg that into possible improvements?

    i like your style.

as for characters that are disturbing in a non-aesthetic sense, not many, a story trope i tend to flog is the hero that has lived through great difficulty, but has created for themselves a source of hope, usually family, religious faith, attachment to a greater cause or just general stubbornness and rise above it, most of my villains have this story too. charlie in a box is disturbing in a sense that he is a tiny doll that uses what appears to be children's games to capture villains, but is actually a ancient primordial entity that has existed long before humans. but he is also a kind figure who dosent harm the villains that he fights, and really exists to protect children. he also looks like a clown, so he may freak out positron.

well, my guesses are that given that jay really hasnt put out many new sets( the new female art person did the issue 15 stuff) is that gr is going to be about on par with cov for new costume bits. similarly i'm expecting the lack of much official storyline content to have gone into gr as well. finally i'm hoping for some other animator to do some more stuff, he has made a favorable start.

here's the deal, the devs really are in a situation where they can't do right. If the booster packs were less than impressive, as many felt the science pack was, then they get roasted for ripping us off, also if the powers are useless, as the booster 4 was originally believed to be with that stealth power, then they get nailed for the booster being a waste of time. But if the booster is really good, like the magic and martial arts packs, then they are ripping us off by withholding the good stuff from free release. They cannot win really.

agreed, though really i'd let em buy the badges too, i dont care if others get to play with my toys, so long as i have 'em too. I do like being able to have a hint that if someone is struggling and has no badges, that i can politely offer assistance, though id imagine some may be less accommodating.

(and for the record, at my 63 month badge myself. so the toy are mine already)

Would it be okay to have a pool of Vet rewards to pick from at each step? Say a Power Tier that includes all of the Vet Powers, a Costume Tier that includes all of the costume bits, etc.

Then, whenever a costume or power is offered as a Vet Reward, one can CHOOSE which of the powers or costumes or whatever they want. That way, they would have the same number of rewards that they qualify for, and the same range of rewards (they wouldn't have all of the good Vet Rewards by 15 months...) but would still not have to wait as long if the only thing they really want is say, the Boxing Outfit.
also an acceptable compromise, a token system is how i usually put it. have costume tokens happen at a certain level, a power token at another. maybe someone really wants samurai armor but dosent give a hang about trenchcoats, no argument with me. plus, this would free up the ability to add more costume pieces to the vet rewards without putting them in the realm of "are you kidding me" for newer players.

    'Mood' Emotes?

ok, its time we maybe refocus on why these packs are viewed as OPTIONAL. according tot he official version, the packs were extra work for very specific themes that wouldnt fit the majority of users, but to cover the extra expense on the art teams part, they were for cost. Check your cynicism at the door, but this has been fairly consistant, not all science heroes are mad scientists, nor are all magical heroes witches or guys in freaky voodoo suits, nor are all techies cyborgs, and based on our current info, not all mutants are beastly but each of these offers a degree of expansion in an angle of the origins not sufficiently addressed by current stuff. now we could make witches, ninja, mad scientists and cyborgs before these boosters, but they are extra options that expand a theme, not summations of an origin's thematic breadth in comics.

so was the pack not your theme, well that unfortunately happens, and would happen no matter what theme they picked, had it been military, spies, or strippers( though maybe they are tech) but it did make a number of users quite happy, and hey, im betting going rogue will have a lot of stuff, so patience

as for the topic at hand, well, moods are tricky things, i dont recall the faces in matrix, but in the other games i played that had mood stances, star wars galaxies and champions, faces changed with moods, it looks more natural that way. Problem with coh is that faces are static, smilin' face smiles if you are dancing in pocket d, or being shot by a punk. so while it would be cool if doable, there may be a disconnect by having a depressed posture and the "enzyte bob" smile face.
  10. a serious issue with this happened on either the magic or science pack where the store was acting slowly and was ambiguous as to wether an account processed or not, and some people clicked twice and bought 2 packs. now with care this can be avoided, but adding a quick check and a confirm wouldn't hurt.

you really want to avoid presumptuous statements like this. This community is generally not huge on pvp, and tends to have some strong reactions against it, so shoehorning pvp into the areas where people who do not want to deal with it is a very bad idea.

ok so how do you see it working, adding contacts for both sides in every zone, full story arcs? you do realize this is adding a significant amount of content planning needed and balancing, so this is a large addition of content for a very small community, content that will present more focused and appropriate content from being added. so i have to say that this would not really be something appropriate for this game.

I would; however, like to see more flat textures added on a regular basis. More complex mods can remain the perview of the booster packs.
one bit of perspective we need here is that there were relatively few issues that added a large number of costume bits. issue 4 added the stuff from the korean launch, so that was kind of significant, cov was a paid expansion, so we really cant count the influx from then. Some of us got a lot brought in during the vet rewards days from issue 8, but not all of us, and issue 10 had the stealth, exproto and vanguard stuff, we also had that extra release of bits when we got enforcer and jester, and finally, issue 13 had a large number of civilian and cop themed costume sets. beyond that id be hard pressed to recall an issue where we got more than 2 or 3 costume sets.

so do the packs point to a throttling of the costume bits, or has it just pushed more stuff being added and funded with a seperate revenue stream? Looking at how costume pieces have been released, im not convinced that there really has been a slowdown. I am expecting going rogue to contain a volume of costume pieces on par with city of villains. Again, not free, but in line with past precedent.

either way it looks cool as all hell
kind of column a and b really. it is a unslottable power, like self destruct, or the vet weapons, it is not part of any pool, and is active at level 4. it ads the funky animation, a bit more speed than sprint, and a good bit of vertical height on jumps. for instance, i was able to jump from the water to street level easily in indep port, so i suspect super speeders will appreciate the added vertical, particularly in grandeville, though they will have to switch them because ninja detoggles actual travel powers.

    Ninja Run

according to babs, he was some other animator, so i think some other animator(i call him some, because we are tight like that) did a great job, particularly integrating the sword and shield holding into the pose.

  16. well, not to wet blanket this,s ince i still love animation/power customization, but in the "everybody is kung-fu fighting" thread, apparently ninja run was done by one of the other animators, so lets hear it for the other animator, good job some other animator.

and bill types faster..i wanted to make sure my phrasing was right.
  17. contextually, he really likes ninja run, new emotes and the costume switches from the martial arts pack.
  18. between the ninja run and power/animation sutomization(also the insane pistols animations for the gr presser), babs has at least had the appearance of mvp this year, wouldnt ya say? obviously there are others that work with him, and i have to toss respect to them as well, but to follow the source of this years excitement for me, its been babs more often than not. he did weapon customization too, right? because the swords were quite specifically the ones i have asked for in another thread, so he has made me very content this year.

i do like the costumes quite a lot though, i can now have a character join the temple of four winds, cant i?

agreed, also wished they worked with pants, the shin-guards remind me of the padding you wear when sparring in tae kwon do, but we wear them barefoot, so for that it would have been nice. of course, i have yet to see a booster get more options after release(would love a shoulder fur-less bolero) but this would be something that would work for me. reiterating how much i like the rest. this was pretty much an "issue" for me, it has so much that i like.
  20. additional bit of conspiritorial pondering. one thing people, including myself, pointed out in threads related to other mmos(and no, not just that one) is that we liked some of the more stylish running and flipping animations. poof, here we go, plus i'm marking out that the Chinese swords i bugged for in the "unselectable weapons" thread were almost all put in (no 9-ring broadsword, but I would be insane to complain) I can say without hesitation that this pack is the absolute best one of the current 4.

    The forgotten

well, as fror the combos at least, i was always under the impression that they were the "secondary effect" for dual blades. whereas katana and bs had -def and spines had -speed and martial arts had..well something of a hodge podge, dual blades were given combos to make them feel distinct. Now as a personal thing, i'd have liked to see combos become a part of the game, maybe something scrappers had exclusively to help differentiate them from brutes who fulfilled a similar function but had the extra mechanic of fury, and also would work with the theme of scrappers being refined fighters, who may not hit as hard at once like the assassination specialist, the stalkers, but have the expertise to apply the science of a beatdown in a protracted engagement. but them again i suspect i'd have some dual blade talkers, brutes and tanks who would disagree strongly with me ont hat topic, including two of my own, so not pushing it.

    Your 1 thing?

really boatloads of costume pieces, im beginning to hit the wall for concepts and need some new pieces to work with.

    Another MMO?

I m putting a third on guid wars. level cap is only 20, travel is fast, the quests are instanced so no fear of being jumped by a kill stealer, teaming is easy, the art is amazing, and no monthly fees. trilogy has all 3 major expanions in one, if you enjoy it enough, there is the expansion, but it didnt really grab me much. in my opinion, nightfall is the best, its african/middle eastern themed, so its somewhat unusual, the new classes are impressive and solo friendly, and the art is stronger than factions or prophecies.
  24. could be a reference for those who get them, coh is pretty much stuffed with a crowbar with them
