  1. I can't say I miss the old tutorial. The long slow jogs down the street were painfully tedious after the first several dozen repetitions (from the old days when it was unskippable). It had a lot of information, more than new players were likely to absorb. I couldn't be bothered with the badge after the first few times.

The new tutorial is light on information, and it's so fast-paced and noisy and frenetic that I doubt if people learn what little is taught. I think the new one is very fun and cool the first few times, but the knowledge gap does seem problematic.
  2. I wouldn't have picked a coyote personally, but I think it looks awesome. Right now I'm saving up for the staff powerset when it comes out, but I think I'll buy the coyote travel power when the beast mastermind set comes out, and maybe I'll even break down and buy the german shepard then.
  3. I've already missed it, but CONGRATS, Sister Flame!

As he left the Doghouse of Justice, Max made sure he had his cape/bath towel and trusty Bone of Liberty. Max had overheard the two-leggeds talking, and it sounded like there was something juicy buried in Dark Astoria, just waiting for a super dog to dig it up! When he arrived, Max ran around in circles, yapping with excitement at all of the wonderful new smells, especially... BONE!
Following his nose, Max soon found two large bones, which a strange man was using to pound on a big drum.

Yes, and that will work perfectly as long as you sell it. If you list something but remove it from the market without selling it, then your listing fee will not be refunded.

I feel you're pain (I've played a /regen scrapper since the days when a /regen scrapper could tank Hami, solo) but I have to say, looking at this from the dev's point of view for a moment, they never wanted a single character to be able to do any of those things you listed. You can be proud of having achieved those things, and you can cherish the memories of having done them. But if your character went from being able to do all *that* ... to being average, because they corrected a very old mistake with one enhancement, then I can see why they made the change.

I really have to agree with this. The incomplete bits really bug me. The lack of sleek tights for gloves is crazy. Other people have pointed out some of the other gaps. I don't remember where all the problems are, but it bothers me every time I run into them in the costume creator.
  11. Hover.

For melee characters, fighting the witches in Croatoa can be pretty annoying. They're hard to herd too. In general, anything with huge resists and pitiful damage is annoying. The fights take forever and you're not in any danger.
  12. Is it still the default setting to ignore tells across faction lines? Heroes don't see villain tells and vice versa?
  13. For me it ended even more abruptly because I hit level 30 while I was there. Suddenly no one would talk to me. Maybe I'll pop into Ouroborous and see if I can finish the zone from there.

    Hours in Game

You can also see this effect if you try for one of the time challenges on a TF. It counts not only the time you spend logged in, but all the real world time as well. So when JakHammer's SG does a TF over multiple playing sessions (I do that a lot too) they'll find it impossible to meet the challenge to complete the TF within a time limit. When the TF is over, it will show your total completion time. It will probably be in the hundreds of hours, even if you only spent four or five hours of in-game time on it.

Other than that, all you have to do is not pay.
Emails expire. Market items won't any more.

    Hours in Game

Maybe if you're in a task force it counts the hours when you're logged out? And I think AE missions count as task forces for that purpose.

Yeah, as much as I've enjoyed the market mini-game, I've never felt that it belonged in a superhero game. Looting corpses just isn't heroic. It's not even properly villainous. Dr. Doom wouldn't sink to going through Reed Richard's pockets looking for something he could sell for a profit. The mechanics are ok, but the window dressing never seemed suitable. But then, I'm not delighted with the AE window dressing either. A virtual world thingy, sure. Holodeck, danger room, no problem. But being sucked into a computer created by an archvillain? You have no choice but to ignore that silly storyline every time you use the AE.
  18. I just have to say that, personally, this all falls into the category of stuff I don't care about and wouldn't notice if they changed.

To me, that seems like marketing suicide. Yeah, I know you don't want to be greedy or be accused of being greedy, but, please, moves like this hurt my brain. A lot.

Just be aware that if at some meeting in the future someone pipes up, "The players didn't seem to like the Flying Carpet," just remember to say, "Well, that's because we were undercut by the competition. And the competition is us."
Yeah, that seemed odd to me as well. I think I actually prefer the flying carpet over the rocket board by just a tiny bit, but I prefer the 450p price over the 600p price by rather a lot. Well, by 25% anyhow. I was not willing to buy the rocket board for 600, but I might have bought the carpet for 600... but not if this is my only chance to get the rocket board for 450.

It creates an odd dynamic. But I can totally imagine some meeting a few months from now where someone says, "The magic carpet didn't sell as well as the rocket board, so let's focus on technology instead of magic for the next few issues."

A monopoly implies that one person controls all the means of production. That's not possible in this game. Everyone is producing more salvage all of the time. I suppose one person could buy up everything, but it seems more likely that a whole bunch of people just happened to be buying similar things at a similar time. Supply and demand are both in constant fluctuation. That randomness is enough to cause spikes and crashes without having to blame malicious players.

Anyhow, placing a reasonable bid and waiting 24 hours can work wonders. Whether it's random or deliberate, high prices tend to pass quickly if they aren't supported by the fundamentals of supply and demand.
  21. I'm not wild about the AH, but I don't have any major complaints about it. It gets the job done, and I've gotten a lot of enjoyment from it. Seems to me that most of the real anger directed against the market is based on assumptions regarding the motivations of other players. I don't waste my time worrying about that. There's no way to know, and I can't think of a reason to care.

The last 5 isn't quite as easy to manipulate as some people seem to think. Try to manipulate the last five prices of the PvP +Def IO. Can't be done. Or an item that trades constantly, like alchemical gold. You can change it, sure, but try to make your changes stick for a full hour. I don't think you can. And it's much easier to change the price up than to change it down. And every forced change will cost you something.

There are plenty of ways the market could be changed. Some would be improvements. Some might turn out to matter less than you'd hope. Overall I'd say it's good enough, and not worth the effort of trying to improve. (Though I do miss the old horizontal layout, and I think there is still a bug with activating a mouse-click activity while dragging items).
  22. And now it's a race. If I get my monthly allotment of points while the sale is still on, I'll probably get the rocket board. If the sale ends before the points come in, I'll just save them and wait for the Staff set.
  23. I rescued baby new year a time or two and defeated the winter lady a few times. Those are fun and easy to get into. I bought a few things with candy canes, and opened a few presents.

I haven't defeated the Winter Lord yet. I spent some time in the team-up teleporter queue one evening, but despite a listed wait time of 5 minutes no event ever started. I gave up after an hour or so, once I was done with the ski slopes and other non-instanced activities.

I suppose I could try harder, using global channels and so on, but it's not like I've never defeated him before. I was hoping the team-up teleporter would be a quick and easy way to get into the event, and that turned out not to be the case.

And if one of those isn't a crime, the other certainly is.
  25. Sometimes I team and sometimes I don't, so I'm on and off hide and my LFG flag changes from day to day. If I'm in the mood to solo and I get an invite, I generally reply with a quick "No thank you", then go into hide and set the LFG flag to decline all invites. I've never had a problem. Sometimes I'll get a tell back saying, "ok, have fun" or something like that, but never a complaint or a problem.
