Have you tried starting in Safe Mode, and then slowly turning the settings up?

You need to give information about your system.
Like OS, graphic card, driver version.

And as stated elsewhere:

• If you're using ATI cards, be sure to disable Hotkey Poller
• If you're using MS Essentials, be sure to allow CoH

Which messages does it give, if you try to log the character in?
Have you tried loading into Talos on other servers.

It might well be that Talos on a specific server has a problem.

Looks like an issue with your graphic card.
Make sure your drivers are updated to the newest available.

If that doesn't work, you'll need to give more information about your system.
Could be the information provided by CoH Helper.

As stated in the OP, the I17 version of CoH gives a 'false positive' at least for AVG.
So my advice is check that your antivirus isn't blocking CoH.

Try monitor your internet connection in CoH using /netgraph 1.

It is supposed to be 'nice a green lawn'. If not, see if there patterns that might help troubleshooting.

Also, if playing on the US servers, try both those east and west and see if there are any difference.

Does it give out any information why it crashes, like an error code?

I have just successfully created a DS choosing Kalinda as starting contact.

Have you tried different servers, or/and have you tried different costumes?
It might be that a server or a particular costume item is bugged.

Did you copy it to Test after you have logged onto Live, and there seen you had gained the freespec?

If you by any chance are using AVG antivirus, check that CoH isn't blocked by that.

I have seen different odd behaviours in relation to 'show last'.
To me it looks like that there still are some issues that they need to fix.

It is a new feature.

It should show up, if you must find several glowies and you just need the last.

It will also show where the last enemies are, when you are just lacking a few.

I haven't heard of such a problem before, and would assume that it is something in your end.

Have you checked that none of your keys on the keyboard are hanging.
And if not, have you tried to quit and re-logging.

It has been suggested before.
I think the main reason is security, so if you leave the computer then none can come to the computer and e.g. delete a character.

By the way, suggestions are supposed to be in the suggestion area further down under 'For fun'.

Check your 'Hide' options in the recipe window, and make sure that nothing is marked.

I am pretty certain that it is related to that you only have one skin layer.

And that skin layer is reserved to have something covering the female breasts, as they mustn't be bare breasted. So you would need to be able to combine a required top with a tattoo or another pattern.
When using the tight option they can put any layer on top, and, as Master-Blade said, making a tiger or cheetah that way is for sure a possibility.

As for the option to have female tattoos or other patterns - I would like too.

I would suggest deleting coh.checksum in your CoH directory. When running the Updater it should build a new, and check if all your files are ok.

It's hard to say if it's really indicative.
I would suggest you did try to do a little log, to see if there show up any patterns.

Like logging date, time, server, playtime and number of mapservers.

Time of day might be relevant if your internet service provider uses different connection points during the day.

One thing you can try - not as a solution, but as part of troubleshooting.

You're playing on Virtue, which is a West Coast server. You could try one of the East coast servers, and see if that is the same.
East Coast servers: Freedom, Infinity, Liberty, Pinnacle, Triumph and Liberty.

I can't see any obvious problems in your setup.

Your graphic settings are at max. Have you tried lowering them some and see if that changes anything?

Regarding your internet connection. Is that shared, i.e. could there be others that effect the bandwidth you get?

Welcome - and a few questions.

Are there any pattern in when you mapserver: can it happen after 5 minutes, or is it after an hour; is it when you are loading a zone; can you physically hear if your computer is working like harddisk spinning?
Have you checked that your page file is large enough, and that your harddisk isn't defragged?

But as Grim Heaper said, be sure to include those reports.

Regarding servers. When getting the server list, the one on top is the one you has been on last time. The rest are ranked based on actual server load, with the busiest at the bottom.

Beside this forum, you might also want to look at the Paragon Wiki, as it has lots of good information.

I don't see any obvious problems.

But your graphic settings are rather high for that computer.
Have you tried lowering them and see if it still crashes?
