I can't load Talos Island

I'm using an old pc with a GeForce 7600 card, but I've never had any problem before the release of i17.
Now I'm unable to load Talos Island. Yesterday it took me more than a hour to finally succeed in loading the zone, today I just can't enter, and my main is stuck in this sort of limbo.

I load smoothly any other zone, but when I tried to go to Talos with another toon, he got stuck too, so the problem is clearly related to the zone.

NVIDIA drivers are up to date, so I really have no idea how to solve this problem...

Which messages does it give, if you try to log the character in?
Have you tried loading into Talos on other servers.

It might well be that Talos on a specific server has a problem.

It doesn't give any message, it simply gets stuck at half the loading bar and after a couple of minutes it goes back to the login screen.

I will try to load Talos on another server, thanks for the advice.

I am getting the same thing..put in Port Oakes redside. Last night I could not laod into PO..on any server. The bar would get about halfway (taking up to 10 mins just for that) Then it would just boot me back to the logic screen, without even a message

This may sound like a stupid question, but how are you trying to load into Talos Island?

The Tram, Pocket D, Ouroboros, Base Teleporter, Peregrine Island Ferry, Striga Isles Ferry, Faultline zone gate, Dark Astoria zone gate and Skyway zone gate all put you into different areas of the map, so I'm trying to see if it's a particular location in Talos you can't get into. Obviously, the Mission Teleporter puts you into a different location than anything else as well.

Are those characters stuck still and unable to be logged in? If so, on another character file a /petition using the Stuck option, describe the problem and that you can't log in the characters showing as being in Talos Island on the Character Select screen (give their names) and they should be able to move them to a different zone, likely Atlas Park. You'll at least be able to play those characters at that point instead of them being in Limbo.

If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

I get this on Talos and Port Oakes as well sometimes. When it happens, any character that I have in these locations are unable to log in.

Is there a fix for this?

You might try some simple fixes first that have worked for me.

Delete the Coh.checksum from your CoH folder in Windows Explorer...then hit your desktop shortcut and let the files rebuild fresh. (There might be some corrupted ones.)

then:

After that, do a defrag. (also, I ALWAYS do this right after a patch/update before going into the game....for some reason, the patches/updates bork the files.) Defraggler is a great, fast and free program, and the one I like best.

then:

Verify files and log in.
These steps have solved problems similar to yours many times and are the things I always try first. Hope they help. Don't give up!

Usually when this problem shows up on a particular zone it's because there is actually a problem with that zone on the server. Any character who logs into that zone will get stuck in a state of loading and will considered to be already in game even though they aren't actually there. Many times you can actually do a search with another character and see the corrupted listed as online in that other zone.

The only real solution to this is to get online with another character and petition to have the affected character moved to another zone.
