  1. The Oscars Nominations have just been announced...interesting that True Grit's been nominated for 10 Oscars. And Toy Story 3 is only the 3rd film ever to be nominated for Best Picture. (Beauty and the Beat and Up are the others)

    http://oscar.go.com/nominations
Would be nice to see Jeff Bridges win another one, and I know Toy Story 3 will win for Best Animated film. Just haven't seen enough of the others to make a prediction yet.

So what are your predictions for this year?
  2. I just came across this article...."Two Suns? Twin Stars could be visible from Earth by 2012"

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/0...?ref=fb&src=sp
Could Lucas have heard of this? Who knows.

    just my two cents.
  3. First off...Thank you Steelclaw I really needed that laugh.

Second read my signature. It says it all...

    just my two cents...
  4. The cast is starting to really get interesting...from part of the official press release.
    Quote:
The actors join the previously announced cast including Martin Freeman (TV’s “Sherlock,” “Breaking and Entering”) as Bilbo Baggins, Cate Blanchett (“Lord of The Rings” trilogy, “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button”). Ken Stott (“Charlie Wilson’s War”, TV’s “Rebus”), Sylvester McCoy (TV’s “Doctor Who”), Mikael Persbrandt (“Everlasting Moments”, “Day and Night”). Ryan Gage (“Outlaw”, TV’s “Doctors”). BTW... Ian McKellan IS coming back to play Gandalf. Somehow my post of that info never showed up here.
  5. There has been more development on The Hobbit.
    Quote:
official word (courtesy of Deadline) that Andy Serkis has signed on for The Hobbit should make fans very pleased.

More actors are expected to sign on for the two-part Peter Jackson film in the near future, including Ian McKellen, Christopher Lee and Ian Holm as Gandalf, Saruman and an older Bilbo Baggins, respectively
Now I am getting interested in this movie.

I really do not see this movie doing justice to the Stooges at all and would love to see them abort this project.
I have to agree with you on this, sounds more like they are trying to be "Politically Correct" with the characters. Are they going to be Moe Howard, Larry Howard and Curly Howard? I don't think that would work. Altogether the studio needs to abort this project before it goes any farther.

When I was a kid, I happen to remember a show here in Chicago called 'Nickelodeon'. I think it was Bob Bell, who played an old man who would bring you in the back door of an old style theater. He would run the Stooges shorts and tell the kids not to hit, slap or poke others, cause the Stooges knew how to do it so no one gets hurt. It stuck with me so much, at 5yrs old trying to figure out how they did it, I fell in love with the Stooges. It is memories like these that make me appreciate them even more today. IMO I think a movie like this will diminish memories like these for others.

    just my two cents...

Now that just might work for me. Only time will tell.

ComingSoon.net got a chance to sit down with the man who brought us Slimer to chat about his new film No Strings Attached. Sure, we talked about the film, (check back for our interview soon) but there was no way we were leaving the room without getting the scoop on whether we'd see the proton packs again.
It will be interesting to hear more about Ghostbusters 3.

There has been plenty of news, from who's read the script and who hated it to whether Venkman's son would be taking over the business. Here's what Reitman has to say.

Since it was announced, The Hobbit has spawned rumors that characters from the original three films would make an appearance despite their not appearing specifically in the original text of J.R.R. Tolkein's novel.
Deadline offered more specific details, indicating that the actors likely to return include Orlando Bloom and Elijah Wood in addition to the more obvious potential casting of Ian McKellen and Andy Serkis (whose characters both play prominent roles in the original story).
I'm not sure this is a good thing to do. I know changes are always made when adapting a book to a movie but adding characters or scenes NOT specifically written by the author? Having Ian McKellen and Andy Serkis is a must. But unless Woods is going to playing a younger version of Frodo's uncle, I can't see it. Just my opinion.

    Quote:
Less than 24 hours after Deadline suggested that Elijah Wood would be returning, ComingSoon.net has received confirmation from the actor's reps that Wood will indeed be returning and that he's confirmed to star in the film.

  10. The announcement everyone has been waiting for has finally happened. Lucas has set the release for the Star Wars sagas for September 2011. Looks like pre-orders are being taken through Amazon.com and through other as well. Not sure if I will pick them up unless they have all 3 versions, original theatrical, special edition (1997) and the 2004 edition. Then people will be able to see the difference between all 3.

    Quote:
Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment will release Star Wars in three distinct sets to meet the needs of every Star Wars fan:

    * Star Wars: The Complete Saga on Blu-ray (9-disc Set includes all six films)
    * Star Wars: Prequel Blu-ray Trilogy (3-disc set includes Episodes I-III)
    * Star Wars: Original Blu-ray Trilogy (3-disc set includes Episodes IV-VI)

Star Wars: The Complete Saga on Blu-ray will feature all six live-action Star Wars feature films utilizing the highest possible picture and audio presentation, along with three additional discs and more than 30 hours of extensive special features including never-before-seen deleted and alternate scenes, an exploration of the exclusive Star Wars archives, and much more.
OK what more did he leave out? yesh.

  11. The beautiful love interest in Forbidden Planet has passed away so 2011 is getting off to a bad start. 2 in a the same day.

    Anne you will be missed.
  12. I personally would rather see a bio-pic of their early years. Maybe what got them started in Showbiz. I will give this a chance since I'm a big fan of "Dr. Howard, Dr. Fine, and Dr. Howard."
    Quote:
Twentieth Century Fox is taking over The Three Stooges from MGM now that the latter has received approval for the pre-packaged bankruptcy. Deadline says that Fox has scheduled a March 14 start date (that's not confirmed yet) for the comedy, that will still be directed by Bobby and Peter Farrelly from a script they wrote with Mike Cerrone.

On Jan. 1 he starts scoring Chapter 4 in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, which shot months ago in Hawaii. He’ll follow that with the Sherlock Holmes sequel, a Kung Fu Panda follow-up; then he’ll work on Nolan’s new Superman chapter.
Now I happen to like soundtracks and if Hans can do the score to Sherlock Holmes 2 like the fist one I would love it.

  14. Now unless Johnny Depp and Peter DeLuise, have cameos in this film, I doubt I will see it. I think it's going to be a comedy and wouldn't be worth my time. Just not a big fan of Jonah Hill, I know others are so you just might like this one.
    Quote:
Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum are set to star in a contemporary motion picture adaptation of 21 Jump Street, it was announced today by Doug Belgrad, president of Columbia Pictures. Hill and Tatum are executive producers on the project, which will be directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller from a screenplay by Michael Bacall based on a treatment from Hill and Bacall. Neal H. Moritz will produce the film with Stephen J. Cannell, who will receive posthumous credit.
    Exe Producer too? OK

  16. My BF and I have almost all of the packs already. Was looking to pick up the Origins and maybe the party pack for half price, but since they weren't on sale we didn't get them. My BF picked up 2 copies of GR at a Best Buy store on Sunday and I ordered 1 online. Will take 1 to 2 weeks to get it which is ok since it's a Christmas present. I could have price-matched it at work. Fry's is price-matching to all competitors till Thursday, even online prices. They will check to see if it is in stock at a competitors location tho. And that goes for any games, movies, etc we carry.

Sorry I just couldn't resist the thread title....this should be interesting to see.

It was Police Squad which only had 6 episodes but I just loved it.

Just wondering when Disney got the rights and why would they want to do it. Guess they think they can do a good job of it. Only time will tell. And to get Johnny Depp playing Tonto? Okay!!

But I agree with your sentiment: why remake a movie that was only made 18 years ago? I would guess that's why Whedon is not involved.
That's the cast from the original movie not the series. I so love Paul Reubens in that film. Wish I still had the AMC Backstory on the movie too. It told of how the movie got made, then later the series.

    just my two cents....
  23. Looks like Warner Bros is rebooting the popular series into a movie..
    Quote:
Atlas Entertainment announced today it is rebooting the beloved franchise, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, with Warner Bros. Pictures. Atlas' Charles Roven and Steve Alexander will produce the feature film alongside Doug Davison and Roy Lee of Vertigo Entertainment (The Ring, How to Train Your Dragon, The Departed). Whit Anderson is writing the script.
My comment is WHY? guess it's cause I never cared for the series but loved the original movie. It was funny as hell. I don't begrudge those who love the series, more power to ya, I just couldn't get into it, that's all.
