I really do not see this movie doing justice to the Stooges at all and would love to see them abort this project.
I have to agree with you on this, sounds more like they are trying to be "Politically Correct" with the characters. Are they going to be Moe Howard, Larry Howard and Curly Howard? I don't think that would work. Altogether the studio needs to abort this project before it goes any farther.

When I was a kid, I happen to remember a show here in Chicago called 'Nickelodeon'. I think it was Bob Bell, who played an old man who would bring you in the back door of an old style theater. He would run the Stooges shorts and tell the kids not to hit, slap or poke others, cause the Stooges knew how to do it so no one gets hurt. It stuck with me so much, at 5yrs old trying to figure out how they did it, I fell in love with the Stooges. It is memories like these that make me appreciate them even more today. IMO I think a movie like this will diminish memories like these for others.

just my two cents...

No DOOM today, DOOM tomorrow. There's always a DOOM tomorrow.

One can only imagine how the Stooge's estate must feel. Oh sure, C3 Productions which was created by the Stooges and pretty much owns the Stooges I'm sure gave this project a green light. Still, I would hope that if they have any reservations about the plot or casting or about the thing in general that they would exercise some control if possible.

Still, here's hoping the big red button labeled "abort" gets pressed for this project.

I want to call this movie a pile of manure but that would be insulting to manure. Manure can be used as fertilizer.

Clicking on the linked image above will take you off the City of Heroes site. However, the guides will be linked back here.

Positron: "There are no bugs [in City of Heroes], just varying degrees of features."

It is, and it was.

I'm going to preface what I say by stating that I don't really enjoy the Three Stooges. I've seen a couple of their movies, and just didn't find them funny or enjoyable (I have liked some Marx Bros., though).

That said, this part baffles me. "After various misadventures, the trio splits up and the third act starts with them alone — and finding that all the slapping, eye-gouging, and head-bonking isn't a useful way of dealing with the outside world."

Why would you want to see a Three Stooges movie that isn't the Three Stooges? They live in a world where you can do stuff like that (their movies have never, ever been realistic). I'm not going to go to the Three Stooges for life lessons or how to deal with the outside world: I'm going to go there because I want to hear some nyuk nyuks and guys hitting each other and doing some physical comedy. Hollywood is always making iffy remakes, but this one is particularly asinine.

I wouldn't say altered so much as glossed over, particularly in regards to the Ted Healy days. They did skip the fact that after Curly replaced Shemp that they went back to work for Ted for a bit before finally getting sick of his drunken stupidity as well as being cheated of money and THEN they went to Columbia.

Shemp returning due to Curly's stroke was correct, Curly not recovering was correct, Shemp's sudden death was correct, the Joe Besser part was definitely glossed over and made to look like they never made any with Joe Besser at all which isn't true. They adjusted the act so that Larry took more of the slapstick abuse and Joe didn't as it wasn't quite his thing. Joe also left amicably due to his wife being ill, he wasn't just tossed by the studio and replaced by DeRita.

But TV time constraints will cause such things.

Well if you think what has been revealed so far is bad (and it is), here is some more: I saw a quick clip of an interview with the Farleys and how they are keeping the slapstick but trying to be original while at the same time making it reminiscent of the olg gags that they Stooges pulled. One thing they said is that the Stooges will apparently be hiding in a nursery for some reason and the infants in there are basically in need of new diapers at the moment and every now and then the Stooges will get spritzed by the infants in what is supposed to be a nod/homage/tribute to the clam chowder schtick when the clam would emerge and spray Curly..........................

OH THE FAIL IS GOING TO BE EPIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would rather see George Lucas use CGI to bring the originals back to life as it were and use same and new gags and schticks with a modern plot then what the Farley brothers are planning, that is how bad I feel this movie is going to tank.

Attention all Stooge fans: I shall be supplying torches and pitchforks should you need them......
