Quote:That's right I'm sorry. Where I heard that was a post on techspot about an installer that makes dx10 possible on XP. However, after further reading I wouldn't suggest using it because many users report many applications crashing and the like. So I'm not entirely sure what benefit you get from using UM on an XP machine. If someone else has experience with this I'd like to know myself.
As someone that is running XP all UM options work just fine.Remember CoH for 3d is not using dx but Open GL.

Another Thunderbird user here.
I've had no problems with it in the last 5 or 6 years. -
Thanks for doing that Mrs ?
Also you managed to get my least bad side -
I also use the free Avast. I changed over when AVG introduced version 9.

I completed the heroes epic today and that is not showing as completed.

Try this from the tech forums
Quote:Also, from time to time, hackers will mess with the domain name tables and cause havoc with your internet connections. To fix this, take the following steps in Windows XP
* Go to your Start menu and type cmd (without the quotes) in the Run box to start the command prompt.
* Type ipconfig /flushdns (again, no quotes) at the prompt and press return.
* Close the window.
Under Vista:
* Go to your Start menu and type cmd (without quotes) in the search box. Cmd.exe should be found.
* Right click on Cmd.Exe and select Run as Administrator. Enter your admin password when prompted.
* Type ipconfig /flushdns (again, no quotes) at the prompt and press return.
* Close the window. -
Quote:Thanks for the tips guys. I'm almost positive the problem is the graphics card overheating. The laptop is over a year old so I don't know why it took so long for this to show up. Not sure what to do except maybe try to fix the original rig I bought the laptop to replace.
I don't know the first thing about overclocking, etc.
It could be because you now have a years worth of dust in the laptop -
One point I'd make is there is never a correct time to buy. There is always new stuff coming soon or prices will drop soon
I would say if you are ready to start then start. If you wait for the "best" time you will never build one -
Damn I really must read my post before hitting submit. My excuse is the forums keep logging me out so I try to post between log outs
Er I meant 1Mb -
I have to add that I can upgrade to a faster speed but I would lose 50% of my data transfer allowance, yes I do use a lot, the last few months on my PC I've used over 60Gigs a month
You have to add in my wife's PC use and any other PC I put on my connection
The ISP I'm with Zen.co.uk are great in 8 years with them I've had no connection for one day and one week slow connection.
But as I'm about to be out of work I may have to change to a cheaper option. -
As yet there is no way we players on EU servers can play on NA or NA players on EU, well not without taking out a sub. to the opposite servers
We live in hope that a full server list merge will happen. -
Seems to be a strange problem.
Reading the chat on Defiant yesterday people with more then one PC were reporting problems on some but not others.
I had some minor problems, took two or three attempts, getting on last night but my wife didn't. -
Another smug beggar here
No major issues for me either. Some mapservers, which after doing a tracert came down to a bad node between me and the servers in Germany (I'm a EU player). Since the server move to NA these seem to have stopped.
I use a self built PC
CPU Q6600
Graphics GTX275
Memory 2 gigs
XPpro SP3
Asus Motherboard
My wife also has no problems
Another self build
CPU AMD Phenom2 quad core
Grapics GTX260 (factory overclock)
Memory 2 gigs
XPpro sp3
Asus Motherboard
We are connected on 1Gb broadband. -
I'm based in England (Norfolk).
We ran a all Fender Itf last night. For the first time almost since the Itf started we ran all the way up lag hill. I found that frame rate was between 15 to 25 most of the time but now again dropped to single figures. In the past I would have had a slide show all the way frame rate 1 to 10 if I was lucky.
So for me a thumbs up
But a Turkish member of the team was having problems with map servers and DCs -

So far and I have to admit it's only one nights play. I have had less lag then before.
This could change but so far it's good. -
So far for me the new servers seem as smooth as a snakes inner thigh

I can only speak for myself.
But I would keep all my alts (35) that are on Defiant on Defiant.
I would roll some alts on the NA servers. I would like to try the Drunk Server (mainly 'cause by 10pm on the weekend I'm drunk)
-
I also have no problem with getting teams. So much so that my solo projects are taking a back seat at the moment.
But I also think that it can be hard for newer players.
Most of us who have little problem with teaming have been playing a while and have several global friends and are know on the server (thinking about it I wonder how I can still get teams) Newer players don't have this network.

Quote:This has to be a firstI'm shocked, stunned and surprised. And also at a loss for words. I don't know what to say really... It's all in a good way though. Thanks Avatea and others responsible for this.
I'm another who's hopeful that it's the beginning of a server list merge.
The lion is happy
