New pc and base edit lag

I've recently upgraded to a new pc to take advantage of the Ultra settings and I must say they are very impressive. So after touring the game and seeing everything for the 1st time again I went back to my unfinished base renovation.... or so I thought.

I know the rooms I'm working on have alot of things in them so I'm used to a little lag, but the lag on my new pc is so bad it's not worth even trying. Even the rooms that have only a few items in them are lagging. I never had this problem with my old pc which would only run CoH at the minimum settings.

I must admit I'm completely stumped as to what is causing my problem any help would be appreciated.

Interesting, just out of curiosity was this a custom build cause there's no manufacturer or model. Also, are you using onboard graphics? A few more questions to ask are: Latest drivers? Latest DirectX? Latest update for Win XP?

It seems odd to me that DxDiag is reporting DirectX 9 instead of 10, I maybe wrong but I thought 10 and 11 could both be used in XP. Again I could be wrong about that but DirectX 10 came out while XP was still preferred over Vista for compatibility reasons IIRC.

One last thought too, if you're using UltraMode why do your settings seem so low? Sorry for so many questions but trying to get all the ones that I can think of out of the way that I can think of.

Yes my pc is a custom build. A friend of mine set it up so I could join them in star craft, which I have'nt played yet with all the new stuff happening in CoH.

That's right I'm sorry. Where I heard that was a post on techspot about an installer that makes dx10 possible on XP. However, after further reading I wouldn't suggest using it because many users report many applications crashing and the like. So I'm not entirely sure what benefit you get from using UM on an XP machine. If someone else has experience with this I'd like to know myself.

I'll give this thread a bump to see if you can get a little bit more help and also suggest upgrading your OS to at least Vista. I know a lot of people say that Vista sucks but I've had nothing but good luck with it even during beta. So it's a thought but if you're skeptical about going to Vista then give Win 7 a try, looks similar, better features and more user friendly.
