  1. I think you missed the part where the devs said that the POINT of limited salvage storage options was to make sure people used the markets rather than just hoard absolutely everything.

    This is unlikely to happen.
  2. The only possible downside I see to this is how much work it might turn out to be to code. /signed.

From what I saw of the game during my trial period, I get the distinct sense of someone deliberately repeating things that turned out not to work in practice in CoX in order to prove he'd been right the first time.

That line of thought /rarely/ ends well.

Unless of course they'd want to play something other than a fire/kin controller, a /smoke grenade blaster, or a perma-MoG or perma-Elude scrapper.

Most of those powers were adjusted for a REASON.

No, they wouldn't, because Villains didn't exist at launch and CoV was only added around Issue 6.

Also, the level cap would be at 40, there'd be no PVP, no Icon, no Eden, no Hydra trial, no respec trial, no Peregrine Island, no Portal Corp, no revamped Faultline, no zillion other things that have made the game so much better since launch.

Good god, that's one of the worst "professionally" designed sites I've seen in weeks.
  8. Other MMs can choose their pets' colors? Since when?

    Female Minions

A bigger problem with this idea is that right now there's no way to determine /what/ kind of model each minion you summon gets.

It's most visible with Thugs, where the basic punk henchmen have several different possible skin colors, hairstyles and faces, which can get bloody irritating if you've actually attached names to each of them, and I'd rather not suddenly have to explain RPwise how come Jimmy and Dave both fill out those sports bras so well...

That said, I'd /love/ it if we had the ability or option to specify the minion model we summon somehow.

There wouldn't /be/ any Brutes in "pre-ED" issues. Villains didn't exist before Issue 6.

    New Mids' Update

Thanks for the update, but I've run into a bug:
When you select the Swap Ammo power it immediately refuses to let you place /any/ new slots into /any/ power.

Also, if you first select a different power, add a slot to it, then deselect the power and select Swap Ammo instead, the slots remain.

A lot of what I saw in my brief trial of CO very much gave me the impression he's trying what I generally call "to prove he was right the first time" -- IE, he's doing the exact same things that didn't work out because if he can make them work /this/ time he'll be vindicated and can blame the fact that they didn't work the first time on the people who called him off of it.

... But IIRC, at or around launch day they had to slap certain defensive powers with the nerf hammer so hard people's ears are still ringing...

As I recall, they really, REALLY wanted to give people some reason to 'upgrade' to Vista since the consensus was that XP pretty much had everything casual users and most gamers needed from their OS.

Of course, Vista turning out to be a major crock didn't help their case, and they burned a /lot/ of credit trying to force it on people.

In CoH, that happens a lot of the time in newer content, except without the "everyone freezes in place" bit. Try the final mission of the Faultline arc, for an excellent example.

The devs have the tech for cutscenes, and do sometimes add them in... But the problem with cutscenes is that they get old pretty fast.

... You /have/ been around long enough to see the Devs working hard to smooth out the leveling curve, right?

What you're proposing is making your extra ten levels one big grindfest by making it take ages to get to the next level. This isn't WoW, kindly refrain from trying to make it so.

If you'd bothered to search the boards, you might have noticed that raising the level cap comes up every so often. It's a bad idea every single time, and it's a bad idea now, and always for the same core reason:

"Okay, assume this goes through and you get to level 60. Then what?"

Raise the level cap again? Add even more "over the top" powers that will have to be balanced against everything else in the game including the already 'over the top' powers gained in 50-60?

Going that route's an endless treadmill, and forces the devs to devote more and more resources to the artificial 'endgame', leaving less and less for the lower levels.

Instead, the devs are trying to come up with things to do that allow people at the level cap to grow their characters without just raising the bar - and hopefully without excluding everyone who isn't at the cap just yet.

You say "integrated within the game proper" but I hear "effectively forced PVP" and if you think PVP as is is "impopular", it'll look like an open-armed embrace compared to the response to any suggestion that PvP should be crammed down everyone's throats so we'll learn to like it or leave...

Thank you for condescendingly and summarily dismissing the every single good point the opponents of this idea have made, not just in this thread but in every single thread regarding this topic that's come up on a regular basis.

Also, thank you for implying that the devs would have to be short-sighted or stupid not to implement this; after all, when has being polite ever gotten anyone anywhere?
  22. This is called '/duel' and the commron response is HELL NO.

If you really want to fight someone, that's what the arena is for. If someone's being irritating, /ignore works wonders.
  23. There's also the point that nowadays you can turn off your XP gain altogether, if it's really that much of a worry...
