Random Interzone missions
I like the idea, but they need to make sure that u dont enter one when on a tf/sf and maybe have a yes/no option cos somepeople might not like this.

wouldn't work the way you think. /unsigned.
OT:
I would be against train mission. But I would be for changing/adding to Radio/Paper missions.
Basically, instead of picking ones out and following the x missions then bank pattern, the idea would be thus;
Any zone your level or lower. For now, call them 'Occurences'.
Pop-ups like the Contact Introduction windows. Allow for them to be toggled on or off in the Mission window.
Example of 'Occurence' in Atlas Park for a level 10.
"While walking, you catch sight of a small gang of Trolls, hurrying away. Trolls usually hang around in Skyway or the Hollows. Something must be up if they're in Atlas...
Investigate? Y/N"
Example of 'Occurence' in Atlas Park for a level 50.
"Another normal day...until you spot something slip away into a back alley. Was that a Malta agent? What the heck are those goons doing here? Someone better check that out, and fast...
Investigate? Y/N"
Example of Yes answer for lvl 10 popup;
"You tail the Trolls until they split up. Before they go, you overhear one say to the others; "Meet at big warehouse in X. No be late! Boss no like late..." Right. Time to pay this 'Boss' of theirs a visit!"
Example of No answer for lvl 10;
"Ahh, nevermind. The Trolls are so stupid they probably took the wrong tunnel. Besides, Atlas is well protected; it won't be long before the hopped up junkies are watching the pretty colours in a PPD cell."
Example of Yes answer for lvl 50 popup;
"You watch, until another appears in the alley. It passes over a package, and you hear whispered words; "Get that back to base. I'll follow on foot. Whatever you do, don't lose it!" The new package carrier nods, before teleporting away. Still, at least the other goon is still here. Time to tail him, and find out what Malta want that's so important..."
Example of No answer for lvl 50;
"You pause, giving yourself a moment to think. Was that really a Malta agent...or are you chasing shadows now? Admit it, you've been working pretty hard recently. And Atlas is the most secure zone in the city. Maybe it's time to go grab a break, rather than working yourself so hard you start seeing things."
This way you can both choose to have the missions at all or not, and accept ones that you fancy and ignore others you dont. It'd mix up the flow a bit, and add that special 'unexpected element' for a dull day if you were looking for one.
GG, I would tell you that "I am killing you with my mind", but I couldn't find an emoticon to properly express my sentiment.

Techbot Alpha,
I like your idea too.
I woudn't mind if mine were a toggled option in settings too.

Is basically what you are saying. Nice to see constructive critiscism alive and well. |

Villains are those who dedicate their lives to causing mayhem. Villians are people from the planet Villia!
As a rule, I don't want to be forced into missions I didn't ask for. And I don't think I'm in the minority.
At the very least I know there's a substantial portion of the player base that can't stand not being warned beforehand that a contact's mission is a timed one ("Well, I was going to log off and get the kids to bed, but that timer's going to keep running, and I don't want to fail the mission..."). There are others who get irritated to no end when their plans are put on hold by a zone event like a rikti invasion -- I once had the rikti invade Atlas during that seemingly-endless series of zone-specific mob hunts near the end of the Numina TF; we had to find Hellions (I think), and they had to be in Atlas Park. So with an invasion in progress, there was nothing for us to do but drop everything and deal with the rikti, even though none of us wanted to do it and most of us had the related badges and accolades already. We came away sort of resenting the whole invasion structure, something that should seem cool and heroic.
Things like that may be more "realistic" in theory but they're not more fun in practice. The fact is, when I get on the train, it's because I'm trying to get somewhere. Maybe to the mission I actually want to do. Maybe to the nearest trainer so I can grab that awesome new power I've waited days or weeks to get. Maybe to the day job location where I want to park the character before I log off and go to bed so I can wake up on time for work in the morning.
FUN FACT: That burst of light when you level up is actually the effectiveness escaping from your enhancements all at once.
sorry about the shortness of my post tech, but you know some of my posts are short. mainly when i have just a few mins to post. as an option to be turned on/off, ok i can maybe go along with that. but not as a random occurance when using the train as it could be a kill all mission and you have a timed mission from a contact that you were trying to do.

Theres no crime against suggestions. There is for being stupid, like 'zomg why we no have vehicles?!' threads

/signed for Techbot's idea.
I like techs Idea more. It fits into the superhero idea of spotting crime happening and going to investigate.
For the OP idea I can see to many flaws. example Hero X has a timed mission he/she gets onto train to go to another zone and get a Train random mission event. Due to that He/She fails the Timed mission.
I see that my idea has some flaws, but I think that having the missions be optional, and having an active timed mission making you ineligible to get a random mission might make it more fun.
Also I see these as very short missions. One large area or 3-4 really small rooms. These missions shouldn't take more than 10 minutes in my mind.
Would be fun to see more Lvl 50 toons taking the train again.

My idea is to have a random chance of entering a mission every time you use a train.
The load screen would look normal, but when you get there you have been dumped into a mission. |
No.

techbot:
great idea! but when would it be that the contact window comes up? right when you enter a zone? How do you sight a gang of trolls from through a wall, down twenty or more feet, and most likely from more than 50 yards away? if you can, you either have batman level deduction, spiderman level instinct, or Superman level eyeballs. and not everyone is a pinnacle of senses.

Either that, or just have a random roll, say every 30-45 minutes? If the roll resulted in a Mission=Yes, then have the popup box. I know it wouldn't be perfect, but then again there are many times in game already when things dont make sense. I mean, how the hell can my character have been contacted by Deadalus/'Sister' Ghost Widow when I've never been to Cimerora yet?

This could turn into a massive inconvenience for various players. What if I'm just heading over to Crotoa to drop off costume salvage at level 20 so I have a third slot to add a cape to? Let's get really stupid and say that on the trip to Crotoa I get pushed off into an instance fighting in Steel Canyon, get to Crotoa, then get caught coming back to Steel by a second instance in Skyway!
My 2 minute excursion to get my costume slot set up just turned into a half-hour or more of frustration (based on AT) before I could do what I set out to do!
Randomizing mission generation is a bad idea. Even making it an On-Off switch isn't that great. Now... Putting a "pseudo Contact" next to a door in the Train Station who you can get missions from to go to specific zones and fight enemies? I'd be fine with that.

Others said the same thing I will: do NOT dump me into a mission without warning, and especially not if I'm hitting the tram.
If I'm hitting the tram, it's because I'm going somewhere. Anything that interferes with that is only irritating.
I like the idea of random, unexpected mission opportunities, but ONLY if it's MY choice whether I enter them.
My idea is to have a random chance of entering a mission every time you use a train.
The load screen would look normal, but when you get there you have been dumped into a mission.
Some suggested missions:
-Your train is being held up.
-The train has crashed and you are in between zones, just outside the train is the ruins of an old theme park.
-The train has been transported to another dimension and is floating above a floating island full of beasties.
-The train is embedded in the sand beach, somehow transported back in time and is now being attacked by Romans.
The active mission is temporarily overwritten while in this mission. When on a team, each member has a chance of getting the random mission, but the team will not get two at the same time. Once one member gets a random mission the rest are ineligible. If one of the team members is already in an instanced mission then none of the rest of the team are eligible to get a random train mission.
Once the first member of a team gets a random train mission a pop-up alerts the rest of the team that the member needs help and they can all jump on any train to join them.
New badges can be implemented for these missions. New "Cowboy" themed villains can be created using the dual pistols power and used exclusively in these missions.
That's the basics of my idea. What do you think?
