  2. not to mention the katan wielder having build up..and claws wont get a tohit buff without a sucsessful hit...which is unlikely to happen with the katana or bs wielder using DA or parry

    and when they do hit with build up its gona really hurt the claw/sr...thats why i wouldnt pick claws with SR i dont think it has the survivability to get in decent damage

  3. i rekon u missed the point entirely, even if you say my facts are in accurate, which they very well could be. the point was that with claws it takes longer to deal large amounts of damage as it takes multiple attacsk to do so, do you clain to have the same rate of survival as a regen?? i merely said i feel its better with regen as the have the end and survivability to be in combat longer i dont see the "ZOMG PREJUDICE! " in that

    infact using claws with SR would give your attacks great recharge rates..but i REKON (as in my opinion is) in pvp a katana wielder would have you under alot of pressure.
  4. it think the build is pretty good, very similar to my own claw/regen build, yes take focus at level 20 and resilence at 30, do u reali need weave? the defense buff is so small from it and as a regen you dont have any of defense moves for it to stack with so everythin is stil gona hit.

    i like that u picked tough , due to with claws your will be fighting your foes a bit longer and therefore are required to take a bit more damage.

    have you thought about dropping weave and stealth and going for another pool...presense pool for example get challenge (dnt slot it) then use those for slots you had on weave for intimidate?

    the build will work well in pvp and pve i no coz its so similar to my own build
  5. My main character is a claw/regen, when i was around lev 30 i diliked my claws because i saw BS,MA and katana scrappers getting high damage hits with build up.

    now that im 50 and pvp alot, i can see the real qualities of having claws, we may lack that 2 shotting squishies capability, but we can have a very fast knockup attack and we can deal decent damage in longer battles.

    you can have 5 attacks and have a solid damaging attack chain without gaps meaning you have more powers to spare.

    i didnt pick shockwave spin or swipe in my chain. as i have the 3 most damaging attacks in the set and they usally recharge within a few seconds of using them, so why then would i use the weaker attacks.

    having a ranged attack is a benefit often over looked, i cant even begin to imagine life without it now.

    follow up is decent but i feel u cant reali get its full potential by making it perma in pvp, because if you are relying on its acc buff then u should 3 slot it with acc and tohit which means it aint gona be perma. for you other scrappers imagine fighting without your build up...or having to be able to hit your foe 1st before gettin your tohitt buff, it can be a real pain.

    in pve u can defeat most minions in 3 attacks, only downside is when you come to those +4 bosses and your seperated from your team. this is why i would only ever pick claws with regen coz it has the survivability to allow you to actually stay in a fight longer to get that prolonged damage that claws have. were as with SR you wouldnt wana be standin toe to toe with a +4 boss for that long

    in pvp jus watch out for brutes , coz we no it takes longer for claws to inflict damage...but we also no you dont wana be standin toe to toe with brutes for long periods of time. so it will require you to out think your foe rather than over power him.

  7. im a first time defender (aka n00b) and i come from a scrapper background, and i decided to make a rad/elec defender.. at the moment i find myself a little conflicted as to what is really important within the build.

    this is my planned build at the moment, please tell me what you think and what could be changed i was going for a sapper type of build that may pvp every now and then

    Fear vs Brutes

    If a brute is in battle lets say with full fury
    and someone uses a fear technique on him lets just say intimidate in the presence pool.

    is that going to reduce his fury if he does not attack or if he is unable to launch a attack while hes affected.Fear renders him unable to take action while under its influence?

    if so does the same apply to hold/stun

The build is good, but I believe you are gona be to weak offensively, with 4 melee attack powers you may have gaps in your chain(you dont wana be dependant on your long range epics moves in close quarters combat as they cause you to put your katana away). without 3 damage slots on those 4 attacks you gona find that you dont do near enough damage (have u considered about when you are fighting brutes or other regen's?).

    Granted you are a regen scraper so you have good endurance but running focussed accuracy, tactics ,assult,intergration and possibly tough all at once will still melt your end like a hot knife through butter. though i imagine you wont be using them all at once...Or atleast I would hope not

    Plus are you aware that focussed accuracy is more endurance draining than super speed. And in pvp its very likely you may have both on at the same time...seeing as people often run

    If you were depending on conserve power to help you out endurance wise, you are going to need more than 1 recharge slot in it.

    the regen powers have been slotted fine, and once you swap whirlwind for tough (im not sure you could maintain whirlwind with all those other toggles for very long)you will be very tough defense wise....

    I think your sting of wasp will need 1 recharger aswell if you are going to stick with 4 attacks

    Shockwave in pvp

    Im a claws scrapper who regulary engages in pvp, the ranged claw power "focus" is useful beyond measure. Mainly beacuse as a scrapper you lack any ranged moves until lev 41+ (unless your spines or claws) it has a good recharge, is the 2nd mmost damaging move of your set and it has a great knock up capability. what i want to know now is if "shockwave" is just as useful i have noticed that using it in PvE it has a annoying knockback effect (i duno about you guys but i really prefer knock up, means i dont have to run around like a fool) and im curious does it knockback or knockup in pvp? and whats the range on it like? i realise its not as far as "focus" and its nowhere near as damaging. the plan is to use it just as they are about to stand up after me using "focus" and hopefully "focus" will have recharged by the time they are about to stand up again.

    focus is slotted with, 2 acc, 3dmg, 1 recharge

    shockwave will be slotted with... 2 acc, 1 range, 1 end reduc (as according to hero builder it is the most end consuming of all claws techniques)

    i have choosen not to put damage as i mainly want it for the knockback/up effect if its damage potential is near that of "slashes" however i will reconsider the slotting?
  11. in PvE it is said the higher the rank of the foe the better odds of a critical hits? from my understanding that means if they are a higher level than you, you are more likely to get a critical hit. or it could mean you are more likely to get a critical hit on a boss rather than a minion?

    in PvP however how does this work? as in pvp we are the same level inside pvp zones and in arena theres never much of a level gap or atleast there shouldnt be. what i have noticed is those AT's that lack damage resistance are quite prone to be hit with a criticals. so is it the difference between the damage you do and there resistance to that damage type that causes the critical...that may explain why build up tends to increase the ratio.

    build up also increases acc by using tohitt buffs...i have noticed that wen using follow up and and focussed accuracy at the same time i seem to get a large amount of criticals. some have suggested that using defense debuffs while increase the odds of it aswell. so is it a connection between your chance to hit your foe and his defense?

    what i do notice is that while fighting SR scrappers they seem to get hit with critcals alot more after being attacked by a foe using build up.

    i find it hard to believe that criticals occur randomly without any sort of catalyst.

    tankers in pvp?

    as of late iv been tempted to start a tanker, in the early levels il have leveling to keep me busy but once i hit 50 i will be looking to pvp. but tanker inherit power "gaunlet has no effect in pvp.when ever my regen came toe to toe with a tanker they were unable to really leave a dent not even gettin my hp past 50% meaning i didnt need to heal alot, so i was thinking why would you intend to use a tanker to solo in pvp?with that damage they wont be able to kill a brute and in som cases not even a scrapper as critical hits cannot b reduced with damage resistance, seeing as toggles drop so easily in pvp they may even loser to blappers or stalkers. i think gaunlet should increase a tankers damage for each for within melee range and possibly accuracy.

The other night a load of heros and villains wer in warburg about 8 on both teams from what i could tell, i was scrapping away with my claw/regen when i som1 used tp foe on me, so i hit instant healing asap to give me a fighting chance b4, the dominator slapped a few holds on me and the brutes slapped me about a bit but didnt actually kill me...i then tried to leg it only to find that im caught in between a repel shield and a wall so im not going anywhere. they thought it wud be funny to leave me trapped their and not kill me, i actually thought it was pretty funny to, something like hostage taking. but what the dominator forget was is that claws hav ranged attack which does good damage on squishies so i use it and lucky me hasten jus happs to be on and i get 2 critical hits with it needless to say the dominator didnt survive his whole team was shocked as they thought id be completely helpless in that corner as i killed him i said"woah i actually killed 1 of ya..that will teach ya not to play with your food" i guess the villains learned their lesson because they killed me soon after....but how typical of villains..placing the hero in a trap which he later on escapes and defeats the villain. the whole experience was great fun actually and the both teams had a good laugh about it that has got to be the pvp moment that i wont be forgeting
  14. que pasa ladies and gents , i got a question about the DA seconday set?
    before asking my question keep in mind im goin for somthing a lttle more pvp effective.

    i love the whole dark aura thing and iv choosen to leave out death shroud (as im trying to reduce toggles) but iv choosen to get tough and acrobatics aswell needless to say thats alot of toggles as death shroud is the only toggle iv choosen to avoid. can i maintain all those toggles with 2 end reducs on each?(i am not goin to have combatjumping)

    if i cannot maintain them i maybe be very dependant on conserve power in the bodymastery set? which wud be a bonus because i could get focused acc aswell but i reali wana get dark mastery as my regen scrapper already has body mastery. i realise for pvp i may need focused acc alot coz with 2 end reducs on each toggle plus 3 of what ever effect it gives. i may not be able to 2 slot my attacks with 2 acc 3 dmg (im katana weilding btw)

    does anyone know how much self dmg opressive gloom does to the user?

    what are the dark mastery powers like as its been a while since iv had a lev 41+ scrapper and i cant remember?

    if u have a katana/DA scrapper how does your end hold up without conserve power? and how does it hold up with it?

    is the disorent of oppresive gloom constant or will ther b pauses in it giving them time to attack?

    how many holds will i have to stack on a basic tanker/scrapper/stalker/brute in order to break it?

    and will disorent+hold help me break it?or am i gona be ther brawling until i get lucky?

    i hav taken in to consideration
    that not all me toggles will b on while fighting dependin on the type of dmg bein done to me

    id b grateful for any advice and anwsers u guys/girls cud give

    Regen changing?

    ok ladies n gents....regen just like any other sets has strengths and weakness.

    Weaknesses
    no damage resistance

    chance of gettin 1 shotted by AV's

    its annoying when you use mog and a empath keeps tryin to heal you

    no defense buffs so most of enemy attacks will hit

    mog- is pretty useless under most circumstance as waiting to long to use it usally will get u killed and using it to soon will get u killed. it completely defeats the idea of being a regen if we dnt even regen wen its active.....i fink it shud jus give an increased regen rate and end recovery with a lil dmg resistance about equal to what a invl tank has without unyeilding and unstoppable . then u get health and end crash when its over. i think thats fair enough

    a katana/BroadSword weilder can seriously hurt you if u dont select the pool power tough (of course they must use build up)

    we dont have resistance to slow,fear or end drain..while some of the other scrapper sets do

    revive is only worth gettin if u duno what else to pick as rezing while still surrounded by the mob that kill you, with no toggles will just mean u gona die agen.

    instant heal is our only life line in pvp reali..while SR has elude invul has unstoppable and dark has a nice variety of aoe moves. though i dont
    fink dark aura moves should be resisted so easily...
    instant heal takes a gud while to recharge so your not gona be using it for alot..and it dont even last that long

    advantages

    Our sytem of defense which is regen does not require endrance to maintain (tho many other scrapper defense sets also hav automatic/non end using defenses

    instant healin..means its unlikely u gona get killed 1 on 1

    increased end recovery

    fast health recovery

    dull pain has a gud recharge....(invul has the same move)

    we can maintain a few more toggles...which could be a potential weakness to exploit if everyone knew the secrets of brawl

    a minor damage resistance 2 smashin/lethal and toxic

    summary
    all the other sets have moves which can allow them 2 tank huge mobs...do we? instant heal can oly do so much but is nowhere near up to elude or unstoppable.

    if people wernt so damage greedy and put a few rechargers and endurance reducs on their best moves they may jus have a better chance of kiilin us

    we still lose fights to blasters as they knock off alot of toggles. and tankers are much tougher than we are...its just they run out of end faster so they need to plan better before attackin a regen

    it is hard to lower our health when using istant healing...but its even harder to kill a SR when elude is on and u try taking on a invul using unstoppable and see how well u do...
    only fing to do realy is evade them or focus on defending yourself until its over.

    and this is a forum after all i dont expect everyone 2 agree.

    i also have a question for anyone who can help....will slotting the claws move follow up with damage enhancers increase the damage buff it gives?

    and will focused acc and tactics give me the perception i need to spot stalkers?

    Regen question?

    i hav a regen scrapper who has combat jumping, weave, tough and of course intergration and toped off with a little focus accuracy...this is entirely way 2 many toggles. and when i become level 44 i will respec out the combat jumping and weave, i was thinking of investing in the medicine tree so i can use aidself on top of recontstruction(would like 2 hear opinions on that idea). but im wondering if it is reali needed...my reconstrution is already 5 slotted with 3 rechargers and 2 heals .and i am goin 2 trade in my jumpin for speed as i want to use hasten. i believe combat jumpin serves almost no purpose for a regen as everything is still gona hit you. but seeing as il soon be 50 i was wondering if i should be preparing for pvp..in which case i shud take the presense pool (so i can use fear) or the manuevers pool so i can increase my damage and resist taunt placate and fear..i should also add im a claws scrapper so the extra damage of assult seems some what important to me.......HELP!

    Regen changing?

    I think regen is just as potent as the other scrapper secondary sets and not a tad more. If those people who complain about regen being over power, attempted to face a AV with a regen scrapper they would soon see scrapping is more of a "make your opponent fight your fight" sort of thing. MoG is the definition of useless in most situations. as it completely defeats the point of being a regen scrapper. at a time i tried giving me regen scrapper combat jumping and weave to prevent a chain of attacks hitting him....As many of you no doubt have guessed this failed miserably.. SR was givin a resistance to defense debuffs this can make them very hard to hit with 1 SO accuracy on a move...and almost impossible to hit with smashing or lethal if the are katana/broadsword using parry. Ladies and Gentleman of the court i urge you to see, this assult on regen scrappers is merely kicking us while we are down.
