tankers in pvp?
Tanks are just not very good in PvP, they become more like a low power Scrapper in addition toggle-dropping means that most tanks can be destroyed quickly by certain blaster builds. This has been pretty much clear and unchanged since the Arenas were introduced and nothing so far has been done to address it, except the reduction in Taunt effectiveness which has made Tanks even less relevant.
Gauntlet *is* being introduced with Issue 7 supposedly, but it will work in a similar way to how it works in PvE as an aggro draw.
Certain tank power sets can do well such as Ice/Energy, some will more problems than others, but it is possible to play them with some degree of enjoyment but you have to get used to the change from PvE. If you want to act as an aggro-magnet for your team you have to be able to move very fast and you should put more slots into Taunt, and perhaps also take Provoke from the Presence Pool. You're not likely to be able to take down a Scrapper with a tank but you will be able to take out a squishy given the opportunity with most of the melee power sets.
Not just blasters, fight an x/storm troller and wonder the überness of lightning storm..
And my tanks damage output is such that despite my best efforts of finding a damaging build I cant take out a defender..
EDIT: so in this respect Im not excited no matter how much theyre gonna nerf toggledropping.. It will just mean to screw my OTHER char over..
as of late iv been tempted to start a tanker, in the early levels il have leveling to keep me busy but once i hit 50 i will be looking to pvp. but tanker inherit power "gaunlet has no effect in pvp.when ever my regen came toe to toe with a tanker they were unable to really leave a dent not even gettin my hp past 50% meaning i didnt need to heal alot, so i was thinking why would you intend to use a tanker to solo in pvp?with that damage they wont be able to kill a brute and in som cases not even a scrapper as critical hits cannot b reduced with damage resistance, seeing as toggles drop so easily in pvp they may even loser to blappers or stalkers. i think gaunlet should increase a tankers damage for each for within melee range and possibly accuracy.
