The slotting I see most often is 5 pieces of Scrioco's Dervish ( All but the proc) and a common recharge IO.
That gets you 89.5% damage enchnace and 84.31 recharge after ED and nets you the AOE def bonus that you were likely wanting on your way to the softcap anyway. -
I am aware of one new trial in i20.5 so thats 3 E merits a day. The reward for an open league is one extra Astal merit and I also don't know if that is every run or capped at 1 per trial.

Quote:Recharge buff and debuffs in the past worked on pets.Well, i never asked for a DEV reply before or had to ask a question. Thanks for the tip.
And i know they run faster, but i was more curious about the attack rates. If it works on players, why not pets? At this point in the game with -res, alpha attack rates boosts, alpha end reductions for /dark, and lore pets, i'm sure SB'd pets isn't going to hurt anything. Or am i wrong? Will SB pets attacks be more Uber than Incarnate powers?
This was taken out to keep pets getting locked into only using one quick recharging attack constantly.
I seem to recall that the Earth and Ice troller pets starting using more of their powers due to this and the Ninja MM pets no longer got locked into just spamming throwing star.
Of course now days the pets just run into melee range all the time but thats another issue -
Quote:Can you define heap inf?Its a pretty dreadful set for survival unless you can heap a lot of inf on and layer defenses.
For some spending 500mil on a toon is a heap of Inf being laid out
For others spending 5-8 billion is just another alt in a long line of others that cost the same price. -
/ELA is a fine set.
With tough your sitting at around 58% to S/L. Your capped to energy damage. You can easily be at 40% resist to psi and getting to 50 isn't hard. You can ignore end drains and slows don't make much of a dent into your recharge.
By using Power Sink as a proactive tool to end drain spawns and lightning field to keep the end drained you greatly increase your survivability in large spawns.
I have always found that /Ela tends to shine in things like the LRSF, Apex, Tin Mage or the new trials where there is a large amount of Energy and Psi damage.
Of course the set is much better on IO's than just SO's but then what set isn't? -
Quote:Welcome back to the game!Hello everyone,
I used to play this game a few years ago, just returning, created a toon, and on my very first (real) mission, the darn thing won't complete. I saved the hostages, but....the game doesn't recognise that I did.
Now what do I do so that I can continue?
(It's hard to start as a newbie again, have pity!)
Thanks,
TLeigh
Which mission is it?
Does the mission goal change from "Free person x" to "Lead out person x" once you freed them?
You can auto complete a mission every 3 days. Just call/go to the contact that gave you the mission and use the "complete this misison" option.
If you have already used this option and don't wish to wait 3 more days or the misison in question does not allow for auto completion you can use the /petition command to file an in game petition and wait for a GM to come assist you with your problem.
I usually attempt to go back and reset the mission I am having trouble with one time and redo it before I give up and wait for a GM.
Hope your issues is solved quickly and I really hope you enjoy being back in the game -
Quote:Do you only play on one server? Are all your characters on every server gone?Mine is scarier. When I tried to log into the game ten minutes ago, ALL my characters were gone. I had my unapplied extra slots available, but no alts, just "create characters" empty slots. Should I start screaming in agony?
Is it possible that you made a toon on Freedom for last nights badge event. Delete the toon after the event and didn't log back in until today? That would put Freedom at the top of the server list and if you had no other toons on that server the select screen would be empty. This would be the most benign answer to your issue.
I can also envision the situation where a GF that doesn't like you spending so much time on a game has gone through and deleted all your toons but I'd rather not think about something like that happeing -
Quote:This does beg the question if these vouchers are going to count against our gleemail limit. For example, if you unlock the Frost Path Aura, you can unlock it on all the characters you choose.
You purchase the item from a vendor and you get something that is delivered via the gleemail interface called a Certificate, and it looks just like a gleemail but is labeled "Certificate". The item is attached, and you can claim it on as many characters as you wish. The Certificate doesn't expire, unlike other mails. You can delete the Certificate on any character after you claim it and not before, but the certificate will still show up for other characters, even characters you create after you have made the purchase.
The auras you purchase via Incarnate Merits are available to be applied to a character even if you haven't unlocked general auras on that character yet, much like the auras from Booster Packs, even if you are level 1.
There are also items called Vouchers that work in a similar way, but they can be used only once by any one character on your account. Vouchers use the same interface, but once they are claimed on one character, they are no longer available to any other character. One example is that for 10 Astral Merits you can buy a Voucher that will let you unlock capes or auras early on any one character. Log into the character to claim the voucher. (Current prices are Beta, as a reminder.)
(Just to be sure, I went on our internal server and tested all of this to be sure before posting since I knew I wouldn't hear the end of it if I was inaccurate!!)
With enough account wide certificates I can envision a scenario where you may need to go in and claim pending gleemails before creating a new toon to create space for the Certificate gleemails to poplulate in your inbox.
If they are going to count against the limit then a bump up in size of the inbox might be inorder. -
Quote:If I had to hazard a guess I would say right around the same time that MM pet AI got borked and things started rushing off into melee range whether or not they had a melee attack. My 50 PB had been in semi-retirement for a while and it was only in the last couple of weeks that i started playing her again. One of the first things i noticed was that Photon Seekers have become very aggressive now. As in if there's an enemy attacking me or within about 40' or so when i launch them they usually streak towards the enemy and detonate so quickly i barely have time to see them. Previously (last year?) when i released them they'd usually wander around near me for a while going "derp derp derp" unless i was within 10' or so of an enemy. Even when they headed towards an enemy after following me around for a few seconds it would usually be a dash toawrds the enemy with a pause for a second or two as if they were asking themselves, "Do I really want to do this?"
Since i'd only been playing lower level PBs for a while i have no idea when this buff happened. Does anyone else know?
Noticed the same type of thing on my /Traps toons with seeker drones for at least 9 months maybe longer. -
Quote:I personally like rotate between farming purples on Harvey Maylors demon mission and running ambush farms in AE.i am about to start trying to farm purples with my brute. He is a Dark/Fire/Mu. He is pretty I/O'd out, and a solid build if not perfect. He is of course slightly squishy, but I farmed him from 25-50 solo in +3/x8, then +4/x8 fire farms. he also runs fine in the trials. Of course, insp mgt, click powers, and smart play keep him alive. and pheonix isa nice oops button.
I was wondering if anyone knew a good place to farm purps for brutes. also, are any places better for this kind of brute. Finally, would any particular incarnate powers help loads/
thx
Farming purples can be fun. The little rush when the Purple text goes across the screen is nice. It is also tempered by the times you go to check what that recipe was and it is a sleep or confuse set.
As Ultrawatt said you can make very very nice returns in farming tickets in AE. No real need to run them at +4 as once your able to cap tickets in a single run there is no reason to up the difficulty.
The most important factor is finding something that you enjoy farming or you will never be able to stick to it. -
That is a bit of a misleading answer.
Purple Sets can drop off any baddie that is able to drop a level 50 IO. SO 47 minions, 46 Lt's and 45 bosses.
So yes any character that is involved with a team killing bad guys that fit the requirements is able to get a puruple drop but that do not drop at every level. -

Fire/Traps is just a fun fun toon. You get good ST damage, great AOE damage, mez protection on a squishie and all the -res and -regen you could ever ask for.
Nothing wrong with Sonic/Traps especially for big game targets solo but if your going that route then roll it as a defender and get the most out of the -res AT mods that they get -
Quote:Thanks to all of you for your helpful replies. I tried the lambda-Trial again as a bane spider and it was a complete failure again. Mostly because our teams were a bit uncoordinated and we lacked decent buffs. (We had one controller, the rests were Scrappers,Brutes and me)
As a Bane Spider I also died about 15 times. It seems I have to softcap my Spider before I set foot into this hellhole again.
I'll try Crabbing once more with a Stealth-Proc in my travel powers, maybe this will help.
So far I didn't make a MIDS build for my Bane Spider but I am currently sitting at 46% ranged DEF, 37% CC-Def, 35%AoE-DEF and similar values for the typed defenses.
I run Maneuvers and CJ in addition to my other defense powers.
What Values should I aim for?
I plan on respeccing him, as soon as I can afford to softcap all of his defenses. But until then it seems I have to roll with the punches.
Even a PUG with no buffs should have little trouble as long as the group is sticking to a plan. Whether that be all rushing the same crate or splitting into 2 or 3 groups. As long as your not stuck trying to solo the things by yourself your going to be ok.
Having to solo a +3 crate with the lowish ST damage a Crab outputs minus their pets would be a painful experience.
As to reaching the softcap solving your problems remember that baddies in the trials have a much higher base tohit which shifts the cap to something like 59% Which is a lot harder to reach than 45%.
I like to build for 45% and know I'm good for normal content. In trials I almost never end up with less than 3 team members running maneuvers which keeps me within a small purple of the higher cap for end game content -
I am one of those people that buy it nao over bidding and waiting or buying recipes and then crafting at much lower cost.
Part of the reason is much the same as others have stated: Being lazy in game.
The bigger reason is that I have to budget every dollar to get by in real life. In a game where I can max out my personal cash reserves in a week without trying I want no part of being frugal and planning out a inf flow budget.
Nothing wrong with folks that love to horde up inf or play the market just not my cup of tea. Just keep the over priced crafted IO's coming so that I can buy them when I want them please -
Quote:Did you take a stealth power? In game the power would show the value for out of combat stealth until attacked. That can be a few percentage points difference.I finished my build for my dark/fire brute. (Except for the Glad 3% proc...) had to strip a blaster for the purps, sigh. Still, good times, the brute is great.
One question though, his actual Def in game is a couple percent higher than Mids said it would be. I have i19 mids, did something change in i20? Has anyone else noticed this discrepancy?
Did you take combat jumping and have it turned on in game but not turned on in mids? That can be about 2.5% right there.
Do you have Mids set up to automatically slot the lowest possible level for a set and generic IO's? That over several powers can end up being a percent or two.
Where were you in game when you checked your numbers? Standing at WW's you might have been next to someone with one slotted maneuvers running or something of that nature.
What Hyperstrike already said is very true. The rounding can be off in mids but it is 99 times out of 100 close enough for any use most of us are going to put it to -

Quote:It is different now. Fiery Embrace now basically flips a switch for 20 seconds that lets a 100% proc effect embedded in all your attacks fire off.I think the buff on this was changed a while back. Red Tomax has it as "DMG(Fire) +100% for 30s [Ignores Enhancements & Buffs], DMG(Smashing) +80% for 10s [Ignores Enhancements & Buffs]" Is that current, or is it different now?
Since this is a proc effect and not plus damage it allows you to get around the damage cap.
The amount of damage done by the procs created by Fiery Embrace hit for about 45% of the current damage of the power used. Meaning that they increase with Fury, buildup, follow up and other damage buffs. -
Quote:That is totally my mistake. I certainly have enough cold/ defs to know better. Thanks for fixing that for meAny amount of KB that exceeds protection (usually 0) is either knockdown or knockback. I forget the exact number as well, but paragonwiki has it listed "between 0.7437 and 0.8174, and is most likely 0.75".
You certainly do not need to exceed 0.64 - Sleet, Freezing Rain, and Blizzard are prime examples of this as they only do 0.1 KB, which is nice because it means that things which are susceptible to KB (lower-level mobs, Clockwork, etc.) don't get flung out of the area like they could with Ice Slick (0.5 KB). -
I prefer /soul. Gloom is just to good to pass up from a DPA standpoint and Dark Oblit while not having as much over all damage as Fireball and Ball Lightning is all upfront damage instead of having to wait on the DOT's to tick off.
/Soul also leaves you open to pick up Darkest Night which is a very nice debuff to toss on hard targets. -
Quote:Thinking it is .64 or greater to do KD and above a certain point it becomes KB I want to say .75Well, then. I know where I can play my energy^2 blaster on a team and not be offensive. In fact, BAF is pretty much a no-kb environment.
What's a normal minion / lieutenant / boss's resistance?
KB is also affected by the purple patch so against plus 4's that have no innate KB resistance it would be mag 1.5625 to induce KB -
I usually find that the last 12.5% isn't worth the cost I give up in other areas to cram it in.
With Ice/Cold your got sleet every spawn which really mitigates damage with the KD and scatter.
Thats on top of your slows lowering the rate of return fire and 1-3 holds depending on what you have chosen to take out problem mobs before they can bother you -
This is untrue. Only the Tin Mage and Apex TF's have Emperor Cole's non incarnate debuff power in them.

Quote:What are you doing at level 25?dont really want to start a big debate about this, I have been convinced that a lvl 50 SS/FA brute i the way to go, but what about one locked at 25?
Are we talking level locked at 25 or level 50 that is going to run some mission or set of missions at level 25 with powers through level 30 and the potential for purple/pvp sets to be in use? -
Nice that Heroes get a chance for double rewards this week.
Maybe it's just me but I'm thinking that they probably should have taken 5 more seconds after coming up with their solution and said "Now is there anyway this will tick off a largish chunk of our player base?"
Might want to add a 2nd redside tf that can be run for a doubled up reward also
