Thanks for the corrections. I had totally forgotten about the Atlas Park Skulls. And suppose I head to Steal Canyon and the Faultline pretty quickly, so I personally am not used to seeing them past level 10 or so.

Well, that's true. Although I guess I don't have a problem with how they look, including the hair. And 1-20 goes by pretty quickly, so I'm still kinda saying don't spend *a lot* of time on it.

Hmm, just for the heck of it (and because it requires no dev resources), let's just say that the Hellions have a more rigid hierarchy that happens to (often) have a female demon summoner on top. Relationships of *any* sort outside of the gang are discouraged. She's in charge and she doesn't allow any competition, of any sort.

And the skulls have more of an attitude that says "we'll take anyone as long as they're angry and willing to cut someone." So gay, straight, or plastic blow-up dolls, it's all good as long as you want to *stab*.

You know, Lawful Evil vs. Chaotic Evil.
  3. I feel like they're gangers, they aren't really suppose to look "good." Also, they're a level 5-10 enemy, I don't want Paragon to spend a lot of time on them, nor do I think Paragon wants either.
  4. I like any of them where poor Swan gets to wear pants, but that last set is especially nice, Bru Tal.

This. While it's possible to use Fly or Hover, it's much easier not to. I have Ninja Run and turn that on when No Fly zones are called for. It retains speed and maneuverability while making it much easier to see any patches forming.

In short, attack and move. You have to stop to get the attack off -but other than that, just keep moving.
Even shorter: DFB. Yes, you want to play this exactly the same way you deal with the bubbles in the last room of the DFB: Shoot and scoot.

Use a power, then move. Do NOT queue up a new power right away. It's hard to do because we're all used to doing it, but if you can avoid doing it you'll almost eliminate any chance of getting caught in a patch. Try to eyeball it and move about the same distance as the diameter of a patch. That way you're close to the edge of a patch, usually, if one does start to form.

But these high level patches play exactly like the bubbles in a DFB, and we should all be able to do that, right?

    Shoot and scoot.
  6. Wow that sounds familiar. I'm premium now, but I bought $50 in points before I left "just in case." I also grabbed the Mecha armor, and the celestial wings. In addition, I spent $50 for goodies previously, so about $100 extra since Freedom for me as well.

I'll play a while as Premium but I'm planning on going VIP again, when new goodies from Paragon Studios and maybe a good sale say it's time for more VIP.
  7. Mine is an undersea humanoid, Atlantean type dude come to investigate the surface dwellers. There's lots of that in the comics, and the archetype is fairly generic. I'm avoiding Aquaman clones and not giving him fish powers.

Etc. Stuff like that isn't hard to figure out, although I can certainly understand having a block. I get into ruts also!
  8. I'd love to see Marauder try to be good and fit in with Paragon City, fail, go Vigilante, fail, and go full Villain (and all still bitter about not being "allowed" to be a hero).

Probably way too late to influence any i24 plotlines, and I'm not even in beta anyway, but still, I'd kinda like to see something like that.

Right, this is what the player is asking. (Or appears to be asking; I get the feeling he's already made up his mind.) It *is* gimp by design. There's no way you could do this and make it viable. You'd always be carried by your teammates.

Sure you can physically do it, but expect to be booted a lot. I've actually had a petless mastermind on my team. If I didn't already have a full and awesome team, I would have told him no. (He actually told me before hand.) As it was, I kinda tolerated it, but I don't think I'd repeat it. Worse, actually, than a "pure healer," though I find those pretty darn gimp too.

No. Petless masterminds are just a bad idea. We can't prevent you from making one, but we're telling you it's dumb. Expect to solo a lot. You asked if the concept was "worthy." No it's not. You asked if it would be a total waste. Yes it would be.

Right up there with "pure healers." You give up too much in exchange for whatever character idea you have.
  11. I kinda understand what you are trying to do, but I also want to reach through the internets and slap you too.

Just play a fiery ninja with a whip who also summons demons. Geeze, is that really hard?
  12. I didn't care much for my Beam Rifle/Time corruptor. I found it overly busy to buff, debuff, and try to shoot stuff at the same time.

I did find /Time to be very strong on my Beasts Mastermind, however. I assume Demons, Bots, Thugs, Mercenaries, etc. would be similarly strong with /Time.

What setting controls that in CoH, I don't know. Character Detail is as good as any to try, Father Xmas is pretty knowledgeable and often exactly correct about these sorts of things.

Which to me argues for making Boxing and Kick better. It's "Fighting," not "Fighting Weakly."

The powers should be better, have better damage, and damge/endurance, and therefore be "worth it" for those taking the powers. They should actually make the player better at fighting, not rather sucky at it.

This is a good idea, actually. I've heard Air Superiority called "the best attack in the game." Why not make a prerequisite that was also a good, desirable power? I think it's a fallacy to think that a prerequisite has to be "bad."

So right now Kick and Boxing seem to do about Tier 1 or 2 smashing damage. I'd like to see that upped to about Tier 4 or so, some really decent attack; yes about as much as a primary or secondary.

Boxing to me looks a bit like brawl, I'd like to see the "one-two" punch animation used. Kick can be a bit of an End hog and also cause knockdown in addition to more damage. Also, kick should not cause weapon redrawn, for all of us blade and gun bunnies out there.

I don't think this will over-power the pool, and will make folks happier with their prerequisite pick.
  17. Getting to tier 9 will get you 550 points per month, instead of 400, so there's that to figure in too. But I did a rough calculation and also came up with $300 worth of points. Or so... can't guarantee that's exact.

So... I think that's cheapest, but it's certainly not cheap. If you really love the game and plan to stay a while, it might be worth it. 24,000 points probably set you up for life.
  18. This weekend is a double XP weekend. You should be able find a team and tag along to get that last bubble or so in no time. (Double XP weekends bring a lot of folks out of the woodwork, teaming tends to be much easier.)
  19. Yup, Champion is up. Although a /search only shows 7 people on.
  20. Polite suggestions are always welcome, I'd think. It's the "this would be easy for someone else to do" posts that gets people's hackles up. How do you know it's easy?

Anyway, I might use this, though I'm not sure. I tend to buy sets one power at a time, so I track them that way (i.e., what I have slotted so far, and what I'm still bidding on the market). It might be useful in some circumstances, but the enhancement screen and the market itself seem to provide a workaround.

True, but most of the I24 content is available to everyone. So by coincidence this seems be a good time to lay low and just muck about, as I mentioned.

I'll be around leveling my Water Blast toon and hopefully a new Nature Affinity toon also.

And I got this rather hilarious email from NC Soft. Kudos on a good choice of images for the email guys.

  24. Also try joining the global channels on your server. Much much easier to spot teams forming up if you are on at least a couple of global channels.

P.S. I think I went Premium just now.
