    1. Invention Origin enhancements.
    2. Auction House access.
    3. Global channels.
    4. Inf cap, might be less than 1 million or so.
    5. Super Group access.
    6. ... I think there's at least one more big one...

Anyway, don't count on these things sticking around if you are only Tier 1 or Tier 2 right now. I think as long as you're careful what you "invest" your game time in, however, you should be ok. Plus it really doesn't take that much to get these back, if it becomes really important to you.

You know, I totally forget. I think we switched leaders after one trial, and I forget who was the original one.

EDIT: Thinking back on this, the league was nearly full. I assume they just re-queued after ending another trial with out advertising the fact. Some folks will do that just to get things moving quickly.
  3. Just bumping to add this:

Last night I was in DA, didn't see anyone doing anything, so I ran off to run some solo missions. As an afterthought I added myself to the LFG with "any trial."

After one mish, and not seeing any chatter in either /hc or the global channels, I got the "Press green to ready for Trial" dialog.

LFG works! Well we knew this, but I think we forget it. If nothing is going on, drop yourself in the LFG and go about your business. Since they added the ability to stay in the queue in instances, it's hugely more useful for finding Trials and other teams. You don't have to use pre-formed teams 100% of the time.
  4. Thread Necro!

Seriously, why do people do that?

After you get out of Cap Au Diable though, it can go downhill fast. In Sharkhead, I don't care for any mish involving CAGE at all. It's demeaning at level 20+ to be fighting security guards. (I feel the same way about Family blue side, btw. It's just silly to still be fighting those guys at level 20+.)

I'm hopeful that new technology might be used to enhance those missions. More in-game cut scenes and scripts. Character stories. But the main thing would be to find a villain or hero group and make them the main focus of who I'm fighting. Security guards don't cut it.

(Maybe explain why every single mob boss has telekinesis too.)

This. For villains, this a hundred fold.

Writing on legacy red-side content is way too forced. There's a mish in St. Martinal where Hardcase, a contact there, tells you to undo all the trouble you've cause after a particularly destabilizing series of missions. And you'd better do it right now because the rest of the powers in St. Mart's is teh way stronger than you!

It's a terrible end to a boring arc. I can see a designer at 4:30 in the afternoon just writing this thing as fast as possible, just to get it done. No consideration for the player's point of view, good story telling, or anything else. Fill in a box on the punch sheet that says "villain content" and move on as fast as possible.

All of the content after level 25 or so for villain side should be more like Dean's arc, and only feature "more powerful" villains (or heroes) if they are going to be used as an antagonist for a while.

Yes, it's the Tier 9. If you aren't at least Tier 3 (I think, off the top of my head) you're kinda boned. Real free players don't get quite the experience you are getting.

But since it's free, you can just make a second account and run around as a complete newbie for a while. You don't even have to download the client again, just use a different username and password.

On the slots thing: If you still have all your slots (6?) as global slots, then you never used any. Conversely, if you aren't currently on a server where you spent extra slots, I don't think you'll see the option to spend them.

Scroll around with the character selection when you first log in. There should be 12 characters if you filled up the server. If there's more, then you should have extra slots on that server to spend. You can use extra characters over 12 in the selection list to clue you in that you should have extra slots on a given server. I guess just looking for a server with more than the default number of slots would tell you too.

Hmm, it would be nice if you could get a list of servers where you have spent "server slots." It would make returning easier.

    Tanker ATO proc

Ayup, I just checked the mouse over text for superior. It does indeed say 6 per minute, which would give a 10 second recharge power a 100% proc rate. I hadn't noticed that, thanks for pointing it out.
  11. gameboy1234

    Tanker ATO proc

No, it's a "5 proc per minute" ATIO. So 60 seconds divided by 5 is 12. That gives you your 100% proc rate.

If you put the ATIO in a power with a 6 second recharge, you'd get a 50% proc rate. Putting the ATIO in something like Brawl is a bad idea, imo, because you'd have to use Brawl all the time (it would lave like a 16% proc rate) and you'd kill your DPS and, for dark, many other useful side effects.

Any power with a 12 second recharge or more will therefore have a 100% proc rate. The "proc per minute" calculation only counts base recharge, so any recharge you slot, or any global recharge, will not be counted and is therefore "more procs" for your character.

With Crowd Control at effectively 5.3 second recharge (plus arcanatime) I could barely get three procs stacked up. But getting two stacked up was pretty easy.

(The standard Tanker ATIO has a 5% resistance buff, the superior has 6.72%, iirc).
  12. gameboy1234

    Tanker ATO proc

You need a 12 second base recharge to guarantee a 100% proc rate. I'd put it in something that recharges 12-15 seconds myself, then add buckets of recharge. 10 seconds would be about 80% chance to proc.

I tested this on Beta with Crowd Control (12 second recharge) and I was very happy with the result. I'd copy your toon to beta and give it a quick test, just to make sure it's what you want.

For /Dark, I'd consider Midnight Grasp.
  13. Awesome! It was a total shot in the dark, but that's what we do when copying the Live client over to a Beta subdirectory, so I thought it might help a bad download too.

Glad you're able to play the game again!
  14. The best way to get on Trials and TF/SFs, Comix, is to be on several global channels. If I see you in game I'll try to get you some invites. You can send me a tell as @gameboy1234. You can also just make your own thread here about getting trials and you'll probably get responses from several channel operators; going directly to them is usually the best way.

The second best way to get Trials is watch broadcast in DA and the Help channel. Third best way is put yourself in the queue and hope an open league starts. Use the LFG menu at the top of your Chat window to add yourself to a queue.

    Welcome back, and good luck.
  15. Yeah, welcome back, and stuffs. You sound like you're doing great, but I wanted to point out that if you applied an extra character slot to any server, that slot should still be there. You bought it and it's yours permanently.

But you still have to unlock specific characters.

Check on the upper left of the log-in screen. It'll tell you how many slots you have remaining. I think you click "Next" with a character selected as if you were going to enter the game, and it'll will ask you to unlock that character.

You DON'T have enough slots to unlock everything. You get 12 free slots with a subscription, so there's 12 slots you won't get back, unless you subscribe. But any other slots you bought (or freebies you applied) are still available.
  16. I downloaded the patch this morning and quickly logged in for a brief time. No issues.

Delete the checksum file and re-patch?

For my situation, it's roughly two weeks in either direction from my bill date, and therefore when my anniversary should be.

I'm still betting on "when someone gets around to it."
  18. You can also see the same thing in game. Menu -> Paragon Rewards will show you basically the same thing as the old list of vet rewards.
  19. I don't know if this was ever seriously considered. I think that's probably the answer right there. "Considered briefly, dismissed as too hard and too many ways to go wrong."
  20. Hmm, speaking of alts, a lot of folks have secondary accounts. I can't think of a good way to bind two accounts together such that they share a single global storage (so that you can share goodies between all of your accounts).

Sounds like a darn dangerous thing to do, actually.

(Blue, I realize you weren't talking about alts in that way, but I wanted to get that thought out there while it was still fresh. Thanks for putting up with me.)

P.S. I don't like your sig. It's four words "Go. Hunt. Kill Skuls."
  21. I think that, even though it might make sense to a player that they should be allowed to send any number of emails to themselves, there's still a load on the server for each email sent. If I were designing this, I probably would not make an exception for "to yourself" either. Limits are limits, and apply to anybody.

This is actually an excellent suggestion imo and one I think we should bug the devs about. A Tier 3 reward (same level as "use global channels and join an SG") such as a new /gvault command would be an awesome addition to the game.
  22. I just got my reward point token too, even though my sub date is (much) closer to the beginning of the month.

My VIP points are currently running about 21 days late.

At this point, I'm guessing NC Soft's back end/billing IT department runs their "reward" scripts on whatever schedule is convenient for them, and has actually no bearing whatsoever on when your sub date is.

    Archetypes

I heard we're getting a new Citizen archetype.
  24. Hmm, no comments?

No one ran screaming from my build, telling me not to do it, so I guess it's at least acceptable.

    New ATIO proc

I'm playing around in Mids now, with a night widow build.

The new ATIO does indeed look tasty up to the 5th slot. But I'm looking at something like taking out some Sirocco's Dervish (which has 3.13% AoE Def in the 5th slot) and replacing it with ATIO, and it feels like a nerf because I loose a good amount of AoE defense.

I'm not actually testing this, so I'm not really accounting for what the Proc is worth. But it does kinda feel like a step down.

    Suggestion:

6th slot: 2.2% Res Toxic and Psi (as now), plus 2.5% Defense to AoE, Ranged, and Melee.

Purple 6th slot: 2.52% Res Toxic and Psi (as now), plus 3.13% Defense to AoE, Ranged and Melee

That would be a clear step up. Perhaps not truly needed, but no one could argue numbers then. Just an idea, and I don't know what chance this would have of actually being done.

In a unique set though, seems hard to see where this would be truly unbalancing. Hard to get unique too, not a cheapo one. OK, just my 2 inf.
