But but, I don't want defenders....I want healers! /cries
-
I've actually found them overrated on teams. They are known for bringing the damage, and to be honest, damage is not hard to come by with all the people playing scrappers and blasters out there.
This isn't to say Fire/Kins can't offer anything else, as they can. I just find other troller primaries more useful in my experiences.
Though, I will say a well played and team friendly Fire/Kin can be great...it's just that most folks think they are some kind of heaven-sent gift to the team, when they are not. -
Sounds like some people just need a hug....

I actually would like to pose the opposite, and ask the OP: Persuade me to play DM. I cannot for the life of me get into the set.

Triumph -Pants
Protector -Pants too? -
You answered your own question in your last sentence. "..one of the most survivable sets..."
You haven't even convinced yourself it's the best, so take the doubt and test it out. -
I've used the base empowerment buff for stealth instead of dropping cash for a Stealth IO.
I had great success running Posi with a Kat/WP (which a attributed DA to keeping me alive more than WP) and also a Fire/Shield with build up early on to make FSC a killer. -
On my SS/Elec, I currently have him focused on +rech and +HP, and it works out great from what I've done. I plan on doing some tweaking with him soon, when I get around to it, possibly giving some +melee def to help, but I'm still undecided.
You mentioned recharge not being important for claws, this is not quite true for your combo. Recharge is very helpful for /Elec alone, to get Energize and Power Sink up as often as possible. Recharge is great for claws in that you can get a very powerful attack chain going, with minimal power choices...even stacking Follow Up as well.
Just a bit of ideas from a different mind. Either way, I've seen this combo tear through mobs with ease. Enjoy! -
So I've got this Elec/Invul I IO'd out last year some time, and then shelved him for no apparent reason. I'd like to use him for the high end SFs/TFs, but think he could use a little help. Here is what I'm looking at:
-High end SFs/TFs
-Maybe a Patron AoE
-Or some suggestions on how to strip him down and move the IOs to something more useful for what I want.
Thanks in advance.

With the stacking stuns...I'd almost suggest to shoot for decent ranged def instead of melee, as most foes in melee will be stunned. Just a thought, to against the atypical answers.

Quote:That stuff is great. It's a lot, but there is no better feeling the finishing one. I have been playing around with a supplement called no-explode. It really helps for those hard days of training. Like when you cant feel your legs and you thighs burn like a team wipe against Mother Mayhem. You take it 30 minutes before your workout and it floods your muscles with oxygen making you less fatigued. I typically run 5 miles every other day with the gym on off days, but this stuff just flat works. It's totally legal and the FDA says yes!
-
I really have only noticed it via Irradiate on my Rad/Fire blaster. But with the proc abilities of rad blasts, I don't think too much on the subject.
-
Tremor is worth getting as your only AoE damage next to Lightning Field. It also offers more mitigation and crowd control, which are both useful for a tank.
I've seen people take either Heavy or Stone Mallet, and not have issues missing the other.
PP is an alright power that offers another place to drop some of the good IOs, and stacks nicely with a regen-centric build. (take a look at Chromium Man's build in his thread for an example) Otherwise, I've found it skippable. -
Hey CM,
The only thing I can see that might be worth tweaking is Power Sink's slotting. Maybe swap 3 of them out for more Performance Shifters to get more recharge for the power. You'd lose the regen bonus, but gain another +HP bonus.
I know I've teamed with this guy several times, and he seems pretty stout, so I'd fathom that your build seems to work pretty well. -
Mez protection is the highest priority out of those three, easily.
-
That's great to hear! I've been off active duty for 3 years, and definitely walked the same path of comfort lol.
I hit a breaking point this weekend though, while at Drill Duty, and made the decision to go back to my roots as well. Fried chicken, coke, pizza, beer, and lots of chips filled my grocery cart this morning....jk...lots of whole foods and fruit and veggies. :P
Good luck with the training and your goal! -
I had a blast playing my Shield/WM tank to 50, and have debated rolling the same build, or at least another WM as a brute to really lay the damage down. It's probably one of the most visually satisfying attack sets in the game for me.
-
I consider the KB just another challenge to the game, to keep things interesting. It gets boring to just go from mob to mob, destroying them with no challenge. :P
But in all seriousness, like others said, only 2 powers are AoE, so its just a matter of proper timing. Does this mean you have to spend most of the fight positioning yourself instead of blasting? No, because with a little forethought you can already be where you need to be for the AoEs.
It's no different than a fire blaster or ice blaster lining up for their breath cones. Even with the rains, they have to set up the drop zone. So really, energy blasters are not all that different when it comes down to it. -
