I'll admit I'm tempted to create an SG based on this. That wasn't my intent at all with the origingal post. I just wanted to offer the Northern Watch story element as something Canadian heroes could use in their backstory.
Tempting though. When I finish my Basilisk arc in the MA I plan to do an arc called "The Original Six" which will pit heroes against a villain group tied to Hockey Lore. -
Given the sudden Riktification of our mods, I was thinking about things that could be added to the game to make a Rikti Booster pack. Once the team has done all five origins... before they start to loop again (or as the next 'Technology' booster...
Rikti Booster Pack with?
Costume pieces that were directly adapted from Rikti gear?
Rikti weapons modified for our use?
Rikti teleport technology power?
If they really wanted to push it, they could add a Rikti body type and make it possible to play as a Rogue Rikti. All kinds of thorny problems... would they need to limit power sets to protect Canon at least a little from the inevitable Flaming Magical Rikti of Doom?
I'd pay $10 for a pack with Rikti themed gear in it. -
To be honest I don't play much PVP in the MMO environment and when I did, it was not the open zone kind. My few positive experiences with PVP in an MMO come from some of the map control type PVP that Guild Wars has. I found Guild vs. Guild to be not my style, but I would go play the Kurzick/Luxon PVP now and then and have a genuine good time. I think that if there were multi-team Blue vs. Red large map battles I might be enticed in.

Quote:I don't know if it was a sense of entitlement really. I think people just genuinely want to see their character interpreted through the eyes of a talented artist. We love our characters and the very idea that someone with your talent *might* render them in some fresh new way is extremely exciting. From my very first post , flashrains.
But I think now is probably a good time to close this thread To avoid the sense of entitlement people seem to form .
It was a fun ride and thank you to everyone that posted screenies .
Naturally those of us who didn't make the 50 or so that were done still cling to the hope that you might find time and/or inclination to do more. With each new drawing you posted we would edge forward on our seats... "What if mine is next?" followed almost immediately by "I HOPE mine is next!!"
I guess I can't speak for anyone else, but I know that those were my thoughts throughout. I appreciated each new picture and hoped Dj would catch your artistic fancy. I never felt that YOU owed me anything.
Thanks for bringing so many characters to life. -
Quote:Yes please! I would love to see a couple more wing styles added. I always liked the look of the margonites with their blazing energy body parts.Agreed on costume changes, rather than a power to hide costume pieces. However, I would like to see more elemental-style wings. I'm thinking something like the Margonites in Guild Wars
I'd really like wings that looked like they were non-corporeal. Any of the existing ones in a see-through, manifestation of energy sort of style. Making the angel wings look like they were spectral manifestations would be pretty slick I'd say. -
Hi all. I was just editing and adding my alts onto virtueverse and looking at various tags and categories and I thought of something.
There are 39 Heros and Villains listed under the Category: Canadian
Two of my characters hail from Canada and both of them have, as part of their history, that they were trained as part of the "Northern Watch" initiative of the Canadian government. The Northern Watch was a superhero team/Gov't program in a pen and paper Superhero campaign I was in years and years ago.
It got me thinking. Thinking lead me to create a category: Northern Watch with some history about that agency and its mandate.
Why am I telling you this? Because I'd like to invite anyone with a Canadian superhero or Villain who is looking for something to flesh out their backstory, to consider adding the Northern Watch to their story.

You should also take note that there is a holiday event happening and a lot of players are in Pocket D hanging at the Chalet or doing the Baby New Year mission which you can get from there.

Quote:This. I'd love a way to find incomplete teams via their leaders and a way to merge teams. GW was great for that.Ideally I'd like to see leaders notated somehow (a star would do), along with a note about how many people are on the team they're on. That way we could cut down on mass-tells to whole teams that are already full asking if there's room. And it would just be easier if someone was on a team of 3, and you had a team of 3, if you could easily tell that and just be able to ask them if you want to merge. Plus the GW-style team merge capability wouldn't hurt either...

Quote:You may not be a DEV, but you certainly have your own renown. I was amused by the reaction of some when I wandered past you in the D tonight with Delicious Jailbait and commented on Local something like.. "Oh look, is Arbiter Fabulous, he is famous guy."Why is it that there are times when I log on with characters who I know how to tweak in ways that seem like they have things not in game, but totally available to all, that I keep having to beat down folks who clamor at me calling me a dev!
Forgive the rant, and if you think this post seems silly or pointless, guess how *I* feel.
Love,
Arbiter "I'M NOT A DEV" Fabulous
I always like it when I see someone from the boards in-game. -

You have to click on the scales on each of your own posts to see any comments associated with +/- Rep now. There is no simpler way.

Quote:I love how it looks like her face mask is drawn on with icing.Oh wow, I almost didn't even recognize Mighty Mousse there at first but she is just so cute there! I sense a new avatar in the making. And I love your condensed description. Hell, it's just about better than my own!

Yup. I was on Virtue and lost connection and now I can't get into the game at all.

Vancouver BC Canada. We had snow on the ground for a day but it's been washed away and it is very mild out there right now. Frustrating.

Quote:Even with that a few people were tempting fate with how close they were getting to the aggro range of the WL.That was when Ghost Falcon was threatening GR beta bans for anyone who atatcked the WL before he told them to
and then we got stuck underneath the Steel Canyon map.
fun times. -
I've always thought it would be cool to have a power set with power depictions that were more like some of the old school Green Lantern powers and/or D&D magic spells. By that I mean the Bigby's Hand spells (ala Vaarsuvius from OotS) and the Beam extending from the ring and making a lasso sort of stuff.
It is a flavour of power that has a neat look to it. Giant spectral hands swatting at your foe. A giant spectral fist crashing down from above. Two giant spectral hands clapping together to stun the target... that sort of thing.
The GL style thing doesn't happen in the game really. The way I picture a hold within that powerset would be a ragged beam of energy extending from the source to the target and encircling the target. Target is rooted for the duration and source has greatly reduced movement while the tether exists. -
During testing on the Test Server, we coordinated the timing of our defeats of the WL on Blue and Red side to test that function out on the first run through.
I noticed the other day that the present we got from a WL had only 2:25 or so on the clock as soon as it spawned. The one previous had over 3 minutes. I figured that meant that we would be joined by teams not from the zone we were in and sure enough there was another full team that joined up with us when we arrived. -
Definitely War Witch.
yeah. She doesn't afraid of ANYTHING! -

So far I'm 8 for 8 with LW battles. Closest call so far was 3:12 remaining when the big lug finally faceplanted. Had some really good teams and good communication between teams all around. Still have not had a second realm spawn though.
It sure seemed like Steel Canyon was the place to be last night though. 3 times in a row I left Atlas after returning from Snowatoa and while heading through Steel a Winter Lord popped. Easy Peasy. -

Your Idea <----
a new low!
As I said in the other thread. I cannot imagine an 'incentive' that is a less appealing carrot than retirement of a character you have put so much time and effort into. -
I can't imagine a less enticing carrot. Why would I ever want to lose a character I have put so much time and creative effort into? I would turn off EXP at 90% of the way through level 49 and stay there forever to avoid a forced retirement and so, I'm sure, would many others.
I dub this idea "just plain dreadful." -
Lots of fun for me tonight on Virtue. Minutes after I logged on and started my loop for gifts on Talos Island I stumbled upon the Winter Lord. Teams formed up quickly and down he went. Into the Realm and we polished the old guy off with 11 minutes left. First team member to leave messaged to let us know a WL was up in AP. So we jumped through and it looked like 4 teams were just waiting around the gift. Another fast beat down for Lord Winter ensued. I was on my emp/ene defender and just kept the buffs and heals going while I blasted away. Good times.
Switched to my katana scrapper and promptly stumbled upon another WL in Talos. Once again teams formed up quickly and we gave LW the smack down with time to spare. Made my way back to Talos opened gifts until I got my badge for winter spawns. Looking forward to doing the same on the other 8 alts. -
The free character transfer turned me into a newt!!
