Lord of Winter Realm is Co-Op

I didn't realize this until last night. I came across a Winter Lord in P.I. We defeated him, but the most we could cobble together was 1 full team and 1 partial team, including several people that hadn't tried the event before. I warned them that we were unlikely to succeed with so few people. But then, first thing I saw upon zoning in? Robots following a Master Mind. Turns out, we zoned in with at least two villain teams... more than enough firepower to finish off tubby.

I'm assuming this only happens when teams from the same server enter the realm at the same time... so it must not be very common?

I haven't seen it (yet) myself, but from talking to people who've done testing, your conclusion is basically correct. I suspect that only one Lord Winter's Realm exists at a time on any server (though there can be multiple instances of the same Lord Winter's Realm), with a new one being generated if the last one has closed, so every box leads to the same one.

During testing on the Test Server, we coordinated the timing of our defeats of the WL on Blue and Red side to test that function out on the first run through.

I noticed the other day that the present we got from a WL had only 2:25 or so on the clock as soon as it spawned. The one previous had over 3 minutes. I figured that meant that we would be joined by teams not from the zone we were in and sure enough there was another full team that joined up with us when we arrived.

Oh yea have had villains/heroes on every event I've been on,best one was on my mace/stone brute with a stone/mace tanker next to me and my wife's kin corr keepin us buffed.Poor Lord Winter didn't know which taunt to follow.

Happens all the time when I'm playing. LW's realm is pretty much the smallest zone in the entire game and, yes, it's co-op.

All three of the attempts I've made -- two with my Fire/Rad Controller unsuccessful, one with my Ill/Kin Controller successful -- were just heroes. I expect things will get more entertaining come the weekends. The two fails were just flat-out not enough damage; we couldn't get Lord of Winter down far enough to trigger even the first spawn of the Winter Guardians. Now that I have a successful run under my belt, though, I'll be better able to plan for repeating it with other characters.

I noticed the first event I ran when they were doin the live test that we didn't have that many villains and came close to failing.Yesterday,the team I was on was nothing but blasters and scrappers,the team that went with us seemed troller/defender heavy and we weren't doin bad,but,whenever the villain teams hit LW it seemed he and the guardian just died way quicker.

Of course with any GM/AV/etc debuffs and damage win the day or at least it seems.GL on your event runs hope you get them shiny badges and merits.

Yeah the first one I was on, I noticed that even though we were villains, there was a tank and several others. I didn't realize the bit with the countdown, that makes sense that if another group pings it within that time frame, they'll all be joined up.

Definitely a good solution to the logistic issues that the DA faced. Funnel all interested parties from either side into a single instance.

And since most of my characters have the coop zone dialogue box on perma-hide, it took me a while as well to notice this.

Now that people mention it, someone had said we'd get five minutes on the timer, but I remember it starting at about 4:40. I didn't think too much about it at the time.

Even with that a few people were tempting fate with how close they were getting to the aggro range of the WL.

and then we got stuck underneath the Steel Canyon map.

I think the lowest I've seen was around 2 minutes, pretty close margin.
