    ^^ This for me. Also, some of the newer tips have you beating up heroes. Mwahahaha!
    The simple and clean map layout of the Isles also appeals to me. And I love getting jet packs at level 1.

    Eep!
    I hope you're feeling better.
    I'll come with Voltez Y.
    If folks are up to it, I can run a quick Silver Mantis SF after. Lv 20+.
  3. I'll try to come to Monster Stomping, but I'm in Pacific time.
    As soon as I get home, I'll hop over to Monster Isle.
  4. I slot at lvl 25. Depending on what I can find, the IO lvs that I use are between 19-28. For powers that I get at lvl 30 and higher, I slot with lvl 20-40 IOs to keep cost down. The higher the IO, the more it cost to craft. Also, there's a transition at a certain level where the IO needs a rare salvage to craft. For example:
    Scirocco's Dervish: Accuracy/Damage
    Lv 25 - need Heads Up Display which costs about 10000 inf
    Lv 26 - need Impervium which costs about 2.5 - 3 million inf

    If you craft a set of Sciro @ Lv 26+, the rare salvage cost is 3 mil x 6 = 18 mil.
    Assuming a rare salvage cost of 50000 for Lv 25 Sciro, cost is 50000 x 6 = 300000.

    Sadly, due to the monkey farms, lv 20-40 recipes and salvage are short in supply because AE drops tickets, not recipe or salvage. So there's not enough folks at level 20-40 putting up their recipe and salvage drops for sale.

    An alternative to sets is common IOs. In some cases, it's actually cheaper to buy them from the market than to make it yourself. I think the commons are listed under Crafted->Other. Slot lvl 25 or 30 ones and you should be good to go! Good luck!
  5. If you're redside, come on over this Sat 12/11 for lowbie Strikeforces.
    At lv 33, you should be able to do them all except for Ice Mistral, which is a min lvl of 35.
  6. weekdays 8 pm-midnite pacific time
    sun 12/12 6 pm-midnite
  7. I used my elec/elec and elec/shield for lowbie sfs (lv 40 and below). In general, my elec/shield performs better. But you should be able to do +0x8. My elec/elec was only lv 46 when he did the 3rd respec, and he was able to deal with a Malta mob by himself. In addition to Tough and Weave, I have combat jumping and Darkest Night.
    However, as a comparison, my frankenslotted elec/shield that didn't have tough or weave was able to handle +1x8 at lvl 46.
  8. I'll come. Will either bring a brute or a corr as needed.

    Yes, the TV's defeat Radio mission would be a good farm for you. As long as you don't kill the Radio, you can reset it.
    If you want to farm TV's liberate mission, try to join someone who has it. A lot of folks have that one.
    Folks have also gotten purple drops in paper missions and tips.

    It depends how much the pvp io will sell for. Organica did a test with 30 merit rolls. She made 2,299,269,539 or 76,642,318 per merit.
    76,642,318 * 35 merits = 2,682,481,129.

    This means that it is better to save for the pvp IO instead of rolling recipes if the pvp IO sells for more than 2.7 bill.

    What about LotG7.5s? Atm, they are selling at a hi of 250 mil, or 225 mil after market fees.
    225 mil / 2 merits = 112.5 mil/merit
    112.5 mil * 35 merits = 3.937 bill

    What if LotG7.5s dropped to 200 mil?
    180 mil / 2 merits = 90 mil/merit
    90 * 35 merits = 3.15 bill

    If a toon needs money quicker, then selling LotG7.5s is a good alternative. The toon can be built incrementally every 2-3 days by selling LotG7.5s instead of waiting 1-2 months to build up enough merits.
  11. Hi All,

    For the past 2 weeks, I postponed doing strikeforces since folks are working on Incarnate. Things seem to be getting less crazy, so I'm planning to run strikeforces this Saturday, 12/11.

    The first one, Renault's, will start at approximately 9 am pacific time or 12 pm eastern time. I am starting with Renault since completing the SF grants you a temp power which can be used in later SFs.

    There will be a 5-10 minute break in between SFs. Budget around 1 hr for each SF. For trials, budget around 30 mins to 1 hr.

    Please let me know which SF you would like to join in since only 7 other spots are available. My toon, Voltez Y, will be forming the teams.

    Start times listed are approximate. As always, I will announce the start time of the strikeforce in coalition chat at least 5-10 mins before I run it.

    SF Lineup:

    Temple of the Waters SF:
    Level Range: 25-30
    Start time: 9 AM PST
    Meet at Operative Renault who is near the Arbiter in the small Arachnos base in Shark.

    The Beast Beneath the Mountain SF:
    Level Range: 15-20
    Start time: 10 AM PST

    Pirates of the Sky SF:
    Level Range: 20-25
    Start time: 11 AM PST

    The Crystal of Seraphina SF:
    Level Range: 35-40
    Start time: 12 noon PST

    Upon request:
    1st Respec Trial:
    Level Range: 24-33

    2nd Respec Trial:
    Level Range: 34-43

    3rd Respec Trial:
    Level Range: 44-50

    Some useful Temp pwrs:
    1) Kinetic Dampener - toggle, 30 mins of use, increase def/res. Useful for trials.
    2) Hand grenade
    3) Stun grenade
    4) Plasmatic taser
    5) Envenomed dagger - great for debuffing AVs
    6) Recovery serum

    Most bases have empowerment stations that can buff for 1 hr with some inf and salvage.
  12. Hi All,

    I'm new to building stoners, so am hoping for some feedback on the build below. I plan to use this to tank RSF and on other lvl 50 SFs as well.

    Thanks in advance!

    Agreed. For me, defense is a higher priority than recharge. I'd rather be able to stand there and survive rather than get 1-2 shotted.
    5 lotg7.5s is 10 a-merits (or 1 bil at current market rates) which is much more attainable than 1 purple IO at 30 a-merits (or 200 mil-1 bil in the market).

    I just unlocked Incarnate, so I ended up wondering how a non-purpled but Incarnate slotted build stacks up against purpled builds. Of course, it would be nice to have both, but not without a significant investment in inf.

  15. I'm just curious... has anyone looked at the performance difference of Incarnate toons vs non-Incarnate toons but with Purple IOs. Specifically:
    * Incarnate+SO slotted vs non-Incarnate Purpled toons
    * Incarnate+set slotted (no purples) vs non-Incarnate Purpled toons

    Basically, can a toon get similar or better performance as a boosted Incarnate without having to slot purple IOs?

    Minimum performance criteria, off the top of my head:
    - speed ITF, no deaths
    - Nemesis TV liberate, diff +1x8, no deaths
    - Rikti raid, no deaths
    - STF or LRSF, no deaths

    ^^ This and it's also a good way to get XP, prestige and Vanguard merits. If you are lvl 35+, you can exchange Vanguard merits for more salvage slots, costume parts and temp powers.

    My only complaint is that it interrupts defeat missions in SFs since npc foes disappear in the zone during invasions.

    It is also possible to get purple recipe drops by destroying bombs and killing bosses.

    Lost game =/

    After you get your game back, I suggest burning it onto a DVD or saving to an external hard drive. If you somehow lose it again, uninstall anything leftover and run the installer. It will create a City of Heroes folder, but the folder won't actually have the game yet until you run the updater. To fool the updater, copy the folders from your backup into the new City of Heroes folder. Run the updater. The updater should verify what's in the folder and download/update as needed. This should prevent another 3gb download and will save time.

    With the respecs going on, you may have difficulty buying lv 50 set IOs. Also, lvl 50 IOs cost a lot more to craft but with just a teeny benefit. For example:
    Crushing Impact Acc/Dmg
    According the table:
    lvl 49 craft cost = 233,580 inf, enhance acc/dmg = 26.2%/26.2%
    lv 50 craft cost = 490,400 inf, enhance acc/dmg = 26.5%/26.5%

    Say you have a base melee power of 100 pts.
    with lvl 49 crushing imp: 100 -> 126.2
    with lvl 50 crushing imp: 100 -> 126.5

    whoopee... you increased your damage by 0.3 pts.

    What if you had a power that had 1000 pts?
    with lvl 49 crushing imp: 1000 -> 1262
    with lvl 50 crushing imp: 1000 -> 1265

    yay! a 3 pt improvement from lvl 49!

    Let's look at Crushing Impact lv 30: 21.8%/21.8%, craft @ 43,700 inf
    with lvl 30 crushing imp: 100 -> 121.8
    with lvl 50 crushing imp: 100 -> 126.5

    Oh the horror!!! It's 4.7 pts less compared to a lvl 50!

    In summary, you don't have to slot lvl 50 IOs. Even if you have to slot lvl 30s, the performance difference isn't that much.

    If you want to see what your build would be like with lower level IOs, you can change the IO lvl in Mids. In the options menu, look for enhancement level default (or something like that). Change it from 50 to 30 or whatever level you want. I usually open 2 windows for Mids, one at lvl 30 and the other at lvl 50 so that I can view totals, active sets, etc.

  20. You could try running in windowed mode and show your taskbar to be always on top. That way, you can click on the other programs running in your taskbar in order to switch to it.
    If you have Ultramode on, maybe turn it off and lower the quality settings.
    This is a longshot, but check if you have any macro keys programs. Make sure that Alt and tab aren't mapped to start some background process.
  21. I have a Mu guardian and that thing saved me several times during AV fights:
    - Goddess Hequat
    - Lord Recluse

    I also use Power Surge which I activate when I tank Statesman in all Dom RSFs. PS will drain your end, so I keep Domination handy when it wears off.
  22. I was on a cave mission and was following the stoner when one of my teammates asked for SB. The cave was multi-level, with me and the stoner on the bottom floor, surrounded by a mob. The team mate was somewhere else in the cave. Here's how it went.

    [SB Whiner] Hey, i asked for SB.
    [Me] Hold on, I'm down here.
    [SB Whiner] if i don't get SB ill die
    < stoner and I still attacking mob >

    [SB Whiner] thanks so much for no SB

    As for speed ITFs, my other kin friend said this:
    If he needs my buffs, there's something wrong with his build. He has no business doing speed ITF.
