    Latter I did an LGTF with all 50s and now I'm the #1 whipping boy, everything goes for me ... one cast and POOF, i'm either dead out right, stunned until dead or sleeping until dead.
    The drones in LGTF can see thru invis. If you are speeding LGTF, there is no choice but to bring lucks, sturdies and breakfrees. Another temp power that will come in handy is the Kinetic Dampner. If you belong to a SG, and your base has buffing stations, buff yourself before joining a TF.
    Other folks have given you great advice, and I'll suggest a rather unusual one. Pop a luck or two and try to stand within the taunt aura of the tank/brute. For a stoner, it is obvious with mudpots on. You would stand in the area of the mudpots. The idea is to 'hide' your threat within the taunt aura.
  2. You'll be expected to wade into the mob of course, so keep lucks and oranges stocked. Know your limits tho. If you see 2 mobs close together, ask a teammate with range to pull around the corner. A dead brute is useless for holding agro. If you're doing solo at x8, the following temp powers can help:
    - Stun grenade
    - Kinetic dampner
    - Recovery serum
    - Revolver or plasmatic taser: for pulls

    I suggest going after the debuffers and mezzers first. If you're running a lot of toggles, make sure to slot your stamina. Lvl 25 common IO end mods will last you till level 50. Check the market for cheap common IOs:
    Enhancements->Crafted->Other. I suggest slotting at lvl 22 for the lvl 25 common IOs or lvl 27 for the lvl 30 IOs. Common IO have better or comparable values to SOs and won't need to be replaced as you level.
    Assuming you're a villain, and you unlock your epic at level 40, you can respec out the lvl 25 & 30 IOs if you want to.
    If you have a bit of patience, frankenslotting is a very good way to slot your powers.

    Hope this helps.

    Sometimes, I solo with my brute and I can get shard drops in the following, listed by order of drop rate: (Diff is +1x8)
    - Liberate TV mission - 1 every other mob
    - Sis Arlia's or the General's missions in Cimerora - 1 every 2 mobs. Note: if you want to farm Sis Arlia's don't complete her missions.
    - Tips - 1 or 2 per mission, kill most
    - Papers - 1 or 2 per mission, kill most

    Anything above +1 doesn't really increase drop rate. It is more related to how fast you can kill lv 50 Lts and bosses. A higher difficulty means you will take longer to kill.

    But IMHO, speed ITF is the best shard rate per 30 mins of play. You get shards + 1 nictus component at the end.

    Hope this helps!

    PS: I signed up for this game because I like teams. I didn't sign up for that other superhero game because I could solo its content myself and I'd rather play with my friends.

  5. Have you seen Mr. E-man's notes on MoBSF? If not, here's the link.
    As you can see in the thread, his outline works pretty well.

    Not sure if you already do this, so I'll just make the suggestion.
    Do you have dual core? If so start COH with renderthread 1. This splits the work between 2 CPUs and it does help. Before I did this, the temperature for my 1st core was 70 C while the other 3 cores were 40 C. After COH started with renderthread 1, core 1 and 2 were 50 C and the rest were 40 C.
    Do you have any programs that monitor temperature? If not, get speedfan. Check your CPU and GPU temps to make sure your fans are cooling properly. 75 C and above, you may want to clean your heatsink and fans or replace them.

    All I can offer is this:
    - figure out which powers have a long cast time. If you are in a middle of casting it and blue goo is in your area, chances are, you will get zapped.
    - avoid immobilizing BM. If she's stuck in an area, the melee will have to stay with her. Allow her to follow taunting brutes.
    - have a brute taunt BM so you know where she will go next. The team can decide whether to go clockwise or counterclockwise on the map. Melees hit and run.
    - Immob the swords, but don't kill the last sword so another mob of swords don't respawn.
    - if you go down, hosp right away. However, the Hosp in the BM zone has no nurse. Stock up on insp in email and your tray.

    Sorry, I missed this one, and good luck on the next run!

    I once asked one of these stuck up types why they quit. It's because they don't want to waste their time. They cut their losses and try for another team that will can do it to their expectations and time limit. I once teamed with someone who will only do speed LGTF for 40 mins. If it goes over that limit, he quits.

  10. My bad, it seems like I picked a bad time, Friday night, for this.
    I'm cancelling this run. I won't be able to schedule this on Saturday or Sunday since I'll be out of town. I'll prolly try again on another weekend.
    Thanks for all the replies!

    So true. I usually don't use these, but are certainly nice to have.
    Fallout and vengeance are great too, but are teammate dependent. If the teammates do have them, then feel free to remind the power holder(s) to hit it before rezzing.

    They may not know. With Going Rogue, a lot of new players have just leveled up their 50s and are getting into SFs. If I'm leading, I will ask who hasn't done the SF. Then I will say:
    This SF will take about X hrs and Y minutes. If you can't stay that long, please free your spot for someone who can, because this is a strikeforce and the team is locked. The leader can't invite anyone to take your place if you leave after the strikeforce starts.

    On several occassions, people thought it was just a regular team, and left without a fuss. If people still leave without a good reason, I'll put a note on their global. Strike 2 earns them an ignore.

    Without that power, the final fight can be extremely prolonged, and could be impossible or nearly impossible for teams with low damage and/or minimal debuffing.
    For BSF, if the team loses the the MM or defender that is supposed to get the anti-phase power, I'll ask all the debuffers if they think they can overcome Reich's regen. If the answer is no, we reform. It is possible to overcome Reich's regen with enough debuff and damage. I think at the very minimum, 2 rads, 1 kin and 2 high dmg toons (either melee or blasters). However, this approach can take a looooong time because people will either get tired or frustrated from the constant ambushes and faceplants.
  13. I did a BSF last night and the MM kept dying, so it was slow going whittling down Reich's HP. Because of this, I'd like to make the following suggestions to squishies. I have these and have only died once on my squishy in the BSF.
    1) Keep wakies and break frees in email. If you must die, die away from the main mob.
    2) If the ski chalet is still open, buy 10 CCs and exchange them for the Renewal of Light power at the Elf. It won't heal you fully, so hit greens and def toggles asap.
    3) Craft Etheral shift. It'll give you a 30 sec breather to heal, buff.
    4) Craft Kinetic Dampner. It's limited to 30 mins of extra defense, so don't keep it on all the time and use it under fire.
    5) Smoke flash. This will reduce mob perception
    6) Envenomed Dagger. Not a defensive power, but useful for its -regen.
    7) Stun grenade. Um... stuns. It won't stun Reich, but it'll work on Lts and minions.
    8) If you have some time before the BSF starts and your base has empowerment stations, buff yourself. These buffs will last 1 hr.
    * +perception
    * increased recovery
    * increased attack rate
    * knockback protection (10 points).
    * various resist buffs

    Note on Temp Power recipes: check the salvage requirements. There are usually 3 recipes for a given Power, each requiring different salvage. Some recipes require rare salvage like Chronal Skip, so buy the recipe that uses cheap salvage.

    Hope this helps!
  14. I didn't design my PC specifically for COH, but more for chugging data in Photoshop and Xilinx. It does run COH, Champions and Titan Quest and other graphics intensive games.
    An excel file of the parts is in Megaupload. It cost around $900 to build. The ASUS motherboard isn't in the list since it replaced the crappy Gigabyte motherboard.
    Hope this helps!

    Now I'm wondering... if folks used to do this on SOs, how come a lvl 50 SS/shield brute with a set of purples (as evident in all those Ultimate bonuses in the info window) and alpha slotted T2 still can't survive 3 heroes in LRSF? This was the lead brute in the LRSF that my MM was in, and after 5 team wipes in Atlas, we had to call it quits.
    If it is possible to do it with SOs, how come a multi-billion, T2 alpha slotted brute can't hold agro?

    Before even i18 came out, me and my friends would sometimes do 3-4 back to back speed ITFs in one night. The fun part is trying to beat the previous finish time. Folks switch toons as necessary.
    My friends are also addicted to Hamis, so I usually do 1 LRSF a day with them. I tend to stay away from LGTFs and Barracuda tho and will only do them if my friends or VG want to.
    Repetition is mind-numbing? I think mileage varies from player to player.

    Hmm... Good point. So now I wonder, is it the leader's job to coach said unprepared players? If so, how would one give instructions without sounding like a total drill sargent? There are some egos out there and it's usually too late when:
    Leader: Turn on rooted. It'll help.
    Stoner: I don't have it. Is it good?
    Leader: ..... Yah. Just pop 4 purples and 2 oranges.
    Stoner: I'm out of insp.

    ^^^ This. Some leaders don't know how to put a team together. I've seen one where the main melee toons weren't slotted well enough (obvious from their lack of bonuses in the info window.) There was a case where the leader picked a lv 49 mind dom with SO slotting to sleep the heroes. Utter fail.
    In one RSF team, we had a fire/fire brute who faceplanted more than the squishies. When we got to the Vindicator base, 2 team wipes and only managed to kill Mal. I suggested that we reform so that my dom friend can get his Stoner to help out and that everyone should send tell to the leader for reinvite. We reformed, but the brutes didn't send tell. With a bit of snooping, I found out that the brutes relogged on different toons.
    Also, because of the WST, a lot of unprepared toons just want to join in hopes that the rest of the team will carry them.
  22. Villain, lv 30+:
    - Darrin Wade's tip
    - A long line of Spirits: the screen looks like it's been covered with a white film. So hard to see.

    Villain, lv 50:
    - Attack Portal corp. Too much Rularuu and many ambushes.

    What's done is done. Best I can do is let Taz know when I see her and go from there. She has kicked alts of those who have been with DK far longer than you. The alts that are kicked will be reinvited when the owner eventually logs them.
    Several people have suggested alternative VGs. Feel free to try them out. I tried out about 5-6 different VGs on Freedom and eventually stuck with DK because of the crew.

Judging from those who dealt in the lv 30s market before, like Eva and friends, and my own browsing thru the lv 30s IOs, the rate of return is much less in the lvl 30s compared to lvl 50s. Folks simply don't spend as much there.

    Sorry, if you were not in Dark Kingdom Damned, you will be kicked out of the other DK VGs in the coalition if your toon is inactive for more than 2 weeks. This rule is explained in the Message of the day for the VG that you are in. Any unplayed toons should be moved to Dark Kingdom Damned which doesn't have an inactivity policy.
    BTW, this isn't just you. This rule applies to any toon, even those belonging to the VG leads. For example, if a leader is going away for a while, ie, overseas business trip for 3 months, and forgets to move his toons to Damned, all his toons will be kicked within 2 weeks. When he comes back, his toons can be reinvited.
    If you are concerned about losing rank, don't be. New members to 1 rank below the leader have almost the same permissions and access to storage in the base. Ie, unless you are the highest or next highest rank, you don't get any new priviledges when you go up in rank.
    Also, a lot of top 20 VGs have similar kick policies. So if you were in one of these VGs instead of Dark Kingdom, you will get kicked as well.
    For your toons on Freedom, I suggest Venu Sovereignty or Shadow Souls which have a much more relaxed activity policy.
