  1. my cold/ice defender has turned into my go to character for most any situation. upon accepting a pug invite i had one teammate say "i remember you, you're the first tank, blaster, controller defender i've ever played with. this is gonna be easy." i was quite complimented. that toon is a blast on itfs, speed or kill all. (i just really like the itf also) perma sleet/ice storm combo for mobs, good st attack chain and buffs for teammates. all my favorites

    i went on a defender making frenzy a while back and have a solid selection to choose from. even joined a short lived all defender task force group that played weekly. if you havent tried an all defender tf give it a shot, it's a lot of fun at any level.

  3. I want to update this toon with a respec. I've already soloed several AV's but with the new inherent stamina I was able to ditch dreadful wail and pick up fighting to add some more survivability at the expense of my endurance. I figure if it's too painful then I can alpha slot my way out of it.

    So, anything I could tweak to improve performance?

  5. I'm interested in the survivability on that 2nd build. Looks pretty solid. I wonder how your endurance will hold up. The idea of two slotting stamina kind of freaks me out. Not to mention only having one of the procs in health. But that's just me. Also curious if the eradications in consume are just for the energy defense bonus. Anyway, I've considered making one of these myself and this is making me want to head to the character create screen

    Please keep us (us = me :P ) updated on this venture. What server do you play on?
  6. My preferred way to slot RI is with a couple enzymes and an achilles heel proc. Dem's my 2 pennies.
  7. Is there a "significant" difference between the two? Or would you say its negligible? I think fire/wp is the next combo i want to try also.

    When I asked which AT to pick regarding fire/shield I was advised to go scrapper.
  8. Ok, I made one change. I took one slot from aid self and used it to put the apoc proc into fire blast. that should help with the single target damage. Also, i now have a proc in every attack

  9. That sounds like a lot of fun. I joined up with a short lived all defender TF group that met weekly for a few weeks and it was awesome. I love endeavors like that. I would be willing to join you if you ever needed another.
  10. I am an ITF maniac. It's one of my favorite things to do. It's got huge mobs of enemies, bosses, EBs, AVs, ambushes....all the things you wanna pit your scrapper against That's a big part of the reason I think I'll switch it up.
  11. I'm actually using charged brawl on the current build. I guess I'll just leave it. And to the first poster, I do use fire blast quite often.

    I was considering grant cover but thought that One with the Shield would be a good boost to survivability in extra tough scenarios. I'm gonna have to rethink that since you say grant cover will help more. I do like that it enables me to have a spot for the kismet bonus.

  12. I'm looking for some advice/suggestions on how to wrap up this build. As you can see I left the new power choices empty. I'm over the ranged def by enough that i could free up some slots out of true grit or take one off of fire blast to help enhance any new power choices. At this point I'm leaning toward taking one with the shield and aid self and a pre-req. Seems like a pretty solid choice, what do you think? I already have all of these enh so the money is spent and now it's just a matter of arranging them.

    fyi, the order of the powers isn't a point of contention i was just too lazy to restart the build from the ground up. also i already have my tf commander accolade and do mostly lvl 50 content.

  13. I love my cold defenders for TF's and AV's. Great debuffs, great buffs. Sleet + benumb + heat loss = unhappy AV. Ice shields and arctic fog combine for a huge defense bonus for teammates. If you have maneuvers you're well into the 30%+ range. If your blast set has debuffs that's even more gravy on your biscuits (or whatever food analogy you prefer).

  16. I want to make one but I can't decide between the two. Is there a big difference between them? Are they equally capable of diving into a mob and taking it down? I have the money to spend if that's an issue (although i probably won't buy any 2 bil io's).

    Or does it not matter because they're both great? Thanks for any help in deciding
  17. just got my 72 month badge and my 1st 50 is still in his "original packaging"

    most get changed because i just slap something on to get rolling especially if i'm not sure if i'm really into the powers but once in a while i get it right on the first try and just stick with what i have.
  18. Thanks for the input/advice. I was thinking of going the leadership route but it kept me just under the soft cap. But with inherent fitness I can pick up aim and 2 pc a rectified reticle to cap (with the extra slot coming from sleet). I'm thinking that my other 2 choices will be snow storm and super speed. Btw, does anyone know of an estimated date for i19 to hit?

    This is a revised build to reflect some proposed changes based on personal preference, survivability, and suggestions found here. I put a 2 pc of gift of the ancients in glacial shield because the LotG HP bonus wasn't showing up in mids even though I couldn't figure out why. So I just took the recovery bonus.

    Back from the Future....goes great with my jigawatt toon whose bio is rooted in the back to the future movie and was my first toon and first 50.

    Time Lord...not only can I be a time lord like Doctor Who but it can also fit the time-travelling jigawatt mentioned above. Bonus!

  22. What kind of blaster is this? You mentioned burn which means it's /fire and I'm just curious about the primary (which I'm gonna guess is fire).

    And yes, having survivability on a blaster is a great feeling.
  23. OK, I have made BOTH a claws/elec and ss/fire. The claws is at 28 and the ss is at 34. I've been working on mids to get a couple builds together. I think I'm pretty close with my ss/fire. Here's where it is currently. The one thing I'm not liking is that punch isn't slotted at all. I'd like to enh a little to round out my ST attack chain better but I just can't seem to find any more slots to put there.
