I have a fire/cold corr I'm considering giving the io treatment to. Is this combo good? Great? This is the build I've come up with so far. How does it look?

I think you've got a really great build here. The only thing that comes to mind that I would change is putting in an Apocalypse proc into Fire Blast, which I'm guessing should be within your budget and is really worth the price. You can easily take out the end red in Benumb for it.

Fire/Cold is my favorite combo out there, its really powerful.

The build is overcapped on 1.12% hp bonuses per the rule of 5.

Benumb doesnt need endredux
Sleet could work with less slots
A good way to slot ice shield, glacial shield, and weave is 1 lotg 7.5, and 5 red fortunes each.
Consider slotting a Centriole HO in blaze.
Consider putting a Kismet proc in CJ

To answer the OP question "good or great?" I give an enthusiastic, Tony the Tiger-like "GRRRRRREAT!" I'm currently leveling one up (47 now) and for the most part used a basic IO build. However I'm going to certainly upgrade this toon to sets post i19 and use it for high end team events.

I shamelessly used the OP build as a template since I liked what he had too.

The changes I made were to accommodate some preferences of mine
- Include Fire Breath.
- Take Leadership over Fighting. Yes, Maneuvers provides less Def than Weave, but I like the team buffs, since it is intended for team play.
- Switch to SS instead of SJ to allow full pve invis
- Slotting Brawl with Kin Crash is not a preference, but a good boost to s/l def and without the Fighting pool, I no longer had a melee mule.

Other notes - I'll be respeccing post i19 but decided to leave the effects of bonuses from heath + stamina so the full picture of bonuses was clear. Once those are inherent, I'll pick Frostwork, Vengeance and Aim (which may get a 2nd slot for 2 Rectified Reticles). I may throw an Apocolypse in Blaze and a Ragnarok into Fire Breath (5 pieces each) but that would skew the build for comparison purposes.

So Chief, I'm not saying my build is better or for you to consider mine, but rather mine accomplishes my personal goals of team buffs (leadership) and a seamless AOE attack chain.

Thanks for the input/advice. I was thinking of going the leadership route but it kept me just under the soft cap. But with inherent fitness I can pick up aim and 2 pc a rectified reticle to cap (with the extra slot coming from sleet). I'm thinking that my other 2 choices will be snow storm and super speed. Btw, does anyone know of an estimated date for i19 to hit?

This is a revised build to reflect some proposed changes based on personal preference, survivability, and suggestions found here. I put a 2 pc of gift of the ancients in glacial shield because the LotG HP bonus wasn't showing up in mids even though I couldn't figure out why. So I just took the recovery bonus.

Anyway, here's another build to peruse.

i broke the rule of 5 with decimation in blaze (6.25) recharge, so i need to slot it another way. I was thinking 4 devastation and 2 damage/range HO??? how would you guys slot it

I crashed a cadillac through the gates of hell and returned with a fistfull of dollars.

Regarding slotting attacks ... I slotted two of my single targets as 3x Devastation, 2x Thunderstrike, netting the 2.25% HP bonus.

So I finished respec'ing my I10 - I12 Fire/Cold build ... this was once my favorite (and infact my only-played) character for a year or so. The build was good in the "I solo on Invincible!" world, but pales in a "My brute solo's +2/x8 without breaking a sweat!" world.

So anyway, final build has soft-capped S/L defense, +80% recharge without Hasten and Corruptor HP cap (that one wasn't easy). Many thanks to DSorrow for his Cold/Sonic build, which informed a few of my choices and to Silas for his many comments here and there. OMG the new respec is just plain beastly. Beastly!

As an aside, can't believe how much cheaper purples were six issues ago!

I am a bad person. I have mids on my home computer not at work. I have an Excel version, but when I post that sort of thing it peeves some folks. The keys to me:

- 3-Slotting Devastation in two attacks. 2 x 2.25% = 4.5%

- 3-Slotting Numina's in Health. 1.88%

- 2-Slotting Touch of Lady Grey in Infridgidate and Sleet. 2 x 1.50% = 3.0%

- 3-Slotting Perf Shifter and 2-Slotting Efficacy Adaptor in Stamina and Heat Loss. 2 x 3.0% = 6%

- 3-slotting regen tissue in Health. 1.5%

- Kinetic Combat in boxing. 1.5%

- 3-Slotting Shield Wall in Weave (+ LOTG +Rech). 2.25%

- 3-Slotting Karma in Combat Jumping. 1.5%

- apocalypse set in Blaze. 3%

- 3-slotted LOTG in Ice Shield, Glacial Shield and Artic Fog. 3 x 1.13% = 3.39%

- 3-Slotted Serendipity in maneuvers and Scorpion shield. 2x .75% = 1.5%

That takes you to +30% HP. Add in accolades and you're at 1,606HP

Need to save this post. Planing to respec my fire/cold when I19 come, so I need some ideas.

"Easiest way to turn defeat into a victory is to put on the enemy's uniform"
"Better strategic retreat than dishonorable defeat"

I'm as well planning on rolling a Fire/Cold when I19 hits and this is the build I've come up with:

-Softcap to S/L/E
-66,7% global recharge + hasten
- I didn't care for the HP cap as some of you have.
I left out fitness for I19 but left 3 slots for it... will also put a miracle in health.

Suggestions or ideas? Thanks.

I'm not sure you'll ever use or need Focused Accuracy and Aim. If you're taking them for the set bonuses, then by all means go for it, but Sleet debuffs defense so ridiculously well, that I literally never used either Focused Accuracy and Aim once I had Sleet well slotted for recharge.

I need to import your build to look at it, but at first blush S/L defense looks to be way over the soft-cap (but that could be an artifact of your E soft-cap goal, which is a worthwhile goal IMO).

Have you considered how you'll be playing your Fire/Cold? I've found that in combat with decent groups, I usually have time to drop Sleet, RoF and Fireball. Blaze on a boss. The major build goal that I had was max uptime with those four powers - I recommend an extra recharge IO in RoF and Fireball specifically as the Posi Blast set just doesn't have enough (I'd recommend a purple set but the Ragnarok set is just ridiculous).

Your build should do well. It wouldn't work for me personally as the build takes and heavily slots a number of powers that I don't use in practice (Aim, Focused Accuracy, Frostworks) but that's more a matter of taste than anything else.

Specific recommendations, YMMV:

- More recharge in the AoEs , RoF in particular.

- Taking the disruptor bot and slotting with Expedient Reinforcement is nice for set bonuses (6.25% recharge) and the pet is actually useful, particularly after you've buffed it up.

- I personally would slot Heat Loss a little differently (3x Performance Shifter, 2x Efficacy adaptor) as that saves a slot and gives 3% HP, but you may need the 5% recharge bonus more.

- For your shields - any reason you went with the HOs? I probably would slot something with a set bonus if possible (3x of the set of LOTG in Glacial, a 3x of Serendipity in Ice) but then again that's likely my HP bias talking again.

- If you're spending on HOs, then Infridgidate is a power that can benefit with a Cyto (I think) instead of common acc.

- I personally liked having access to Flares ... lower levels pre-Sleet are very tricky. You have access to great AoEs, but not enough mitigation or damage buffing to really use them well. I found myself (as a lowbie, and when I exemp) using single target attacks quite a bit (scourging for a brute is a big one) and avoiding AoEs. Taking Flares in place of something else (Foc. Accuracy?) would let you 6-slot Thunderstrike for 3.75% Energy defense and avoid a lot of other slottings you've done elsewhere for the energy defense set bonuses.

- Another item to consider as you apparently have some cash to burn (a Miracle, 5 LOTGs ...) - taking the patron immobilize and slotting with the purple set is nice and not as expensive as the other purples (the purple proc for a hold is sweet too).

Good luck, enjoy your fire/cold! After 35 its the most fun in the game IMO

Here is a Fire/cold i built with the help of this thread and Rad Avenger. Right now this build is very expensive but you could replace some of the purple sets and PvP set for lesser enhancements and strive for them in the future. You will lose the hit point cap and some recharge. I used the Spiritual Alpha slot to make Heat Loss as close to perma as possible.

Some things i am still on the fence on -

The slotting of Sleet? Should i proc it out completely or keep it as a hybrid of bonuses and procs with a decent recharge value.

Inferno - With all these toggles i hate having to retoggle them after i Nuke, but it just doesnt seem right to skip it having close to perma heatloss and having the ability to beat the recovery crash. I could easily replace this with Fire Breath and a set of Posi blast.

Alpha Slot - Musculature could be a better fit for this build, haven't had a chance to try it out.

Well, HELLO THERE, big spender!

And hello there +30% HP, soft capped S/L defense and high global recharge. Oh heck yeah! I like where your head's at!

You're actually quite close to my build on live, with a couple of differences:

- I have the single target attacks six slotted. Flares is 3x Devastation, 3x Decimation; Fire Blast 3x Devastation, 3x Glad Javelin; Blaze 5x Apoc, 1 Glad Jav proc. The Glad Jav procs and decimation build up proc are useful when soloing Pylons, but otherwise are, uh, probably not worth it. (but hey what else am I spending my billions on?)

- I took the slots out of boxing and bought myself a +3% def PvP IO for tough. Still gets me to the 45% def S/L target.

- I took the pet instead of Inferno, but that's just a personal preference issue.

Oh and re: Sleet. I would swap the Posi Acc/Dam for a recharge IO. Good stuff man!

Just thought I'd chime in and add one more vote to the awesomeness of a Fire/Cold corruptor. My first 50 Villain was my Fire/Cold corruptor. Three years later, she is still one of my most favorite toons to play. She brings so much to any given team. Damage, buffs, and debuffs all in one toon. My Fire/Cold is capable of soloing Giant Monsters (Not all of them, mind you...Adamastor and Kraken are ***** with their AoE attacks, and Lusca is...well, Lusca) plus pretty much any AV that's not Malaise.
I also have a friend with a Fire/Cold corruptor that is also capable of all that, in fact he was the one who aspired me to try soling GMs/AVs with my Fire/Cold. When we both team together the team will be almost definitely a slaughter machine.

So, in other words. Fire/Cold = win. Regardless of what type of build you went for. My build has 33% Ranged defence and about 50% S/L resist and enough recharge that with the Spiritual Alpha boost my Benumb and HeatLoss are Perma and Sleet is up every 14 seconds (which means it's perma..what with the rain-debuff bug and whatnot). My friend opted for a capped S/L build with less recharge than I have on my toon. But both toons can achieve high levels of performance.
What I'm trying to say is, there is no one way to build a Fire/Cold corr -- there are a lot of ways to achieve a wonderful toon in it.

P.S: For Sleet, I just have a Regular Recharge IO, Touch of Lady Grey: End/Rech and Undermined Defences: Rech/End. Heatloss I have Efficacy Adaptor: Rech/End, Rech/Acc/End and Performance Shifter: Rech/End, Rech/Acc/End. Infrigidate I have two Acc/End IOs from slow sets.

I keep Aim on my corr. I like to use it before I hit Benumb because even with Sleet and Infrigidate sometimes it misses on GMs or Higher level AVs. I usually go Aim -> Blaze -> Benumb -> Blaze

Someone used a mass-rez on this thread.

On a more related note, Fire/Cold rocks everyone's socks.

When it comes to Fire/Cold, mass rezzes aren't just OK, they're mandatory!

An Wanted - I am leaning your way on Aim, particularly for the lvl 54 content. Will post up a build tonight for feedback on integrating it

this is my proposed build for a fire/cold. After playing my fire/storm and IOing it to deity status, this one will be just as good and it provides team buffs too. It is also not that expensive at all.

Hahaha That was me that gave this thread a wakie. I had it saved for a later date when i was ready to dive into my fire/cold. I might add aim too, i have it on all my other corruptors, and with Judgememt coming out, i might kiss Inferno's toggle dropping a$$ goodbye. I would use it before i hit Heatloss or benumb. That build is good for the money you put in Ice ember but it doesnt come close to the numbers we have invested in the other builds. Hit point cap, 70-80% recharge and capped S/L doesnt come cheap ;-) but fire/cold doesnt have to be min/maxed to be awesome, thats for sure.

I crashed a cadillac through the gates of hell and returned with a fistfull of dollars.

My point was simple. You dont have to invest the entire farm to have a good build. I rarely slot anything with purples due to cost. I dont PVP. Therefore I slot what I can get from merits or the market. And to the casual player, which this build is geared towards, it fits that role.

Also, I run this as a duo that is identical...

Point taken, you wrote you io'ed your fire storm to "deity status" and this fire/cold would be just as good. Me and you just have different views on what "IO'ing to deity status" is. lol
