That highly depends on what you come across. Do I use it often? Not at all. Do I enjoy having SS when it is needed? Absolutely.

Even if two areas gave the exact same xp, unless they are identical in every way, one is 'best' and therefore used. It would come down to distance traveled, ease of use, enemy resistances.........something would differentiate two things and therefore one would be deemed best and that one would be the only one used.

This game is no different than any other in that regard.

Again, this is a player created problem. No dev, in any game, has ever solved this problem unless any two options were literally the exact same, which is either redundant or impossible, depending on what it is we're comparing.

One can argue 'alternative' vs 'equivalent' until they are blue in the face, but the "rule of best" states that no two options in such game are ever actually equivalent unless they are indeed the same option. To actually be different options, one would have to differ from the other in some aspect, and therefore one would be deemed 'best' and used to the near exclusion of the other.

If anything, this game needs another ED. The only thing from those days that is holding this game back in any way, shape, or form is the aggro cap and AOE limits.

And, amazingly, as easy as this game has become people still whine about those things.

What has ruined the game are the players. Too lazy, too much crying, and full of agendas, greed and stupidity. If you can't fly through it at x8 solo, then it isn't a toon worth playing. The entire industry is plagued by these "if it ain't best, don't bother" folks. If you want to blame someone, blame them.

The devs aren't without their faults (they really need to do a better job recognizing exploit potential before something is published, for example) but they sure do try hard. And they have a magnificent ability to put up with unappreciative brats. For their part, over the years, they have managed to keep an old game not only ticking but in many respects still innovative. With the right people, it is still a good game.

Pretty naive stances (Very, very few things could be said to have absolutely no negative impact. Such absolutes rarely exist). Something like the leveling changes has had a dramatic and often negative impact on the game as a whole in the sense that nearly everything in this game, from items to enemies is relative to what level you are. People who can't see past their noses (gimme gimme gimme) don't realize the harm such a thing has caused. They don't see the big picture well enough to realize the overlapping consequences of any decision in such a game. They just move from one whine to another, and often from one game to another. As such, these people should rarely be taken seriously.

MMOs are about time. If you don't take the time to get something, it decreases in value (because it is no longer rare enough) and it decreases the time value in gaining it. Both are bad for MMOs, which above all else are time sinks, and where the value of any given item is most notably in how hard it is to acquire (particularly in a game like this where any particular 'item' is only fractionally beneficial, and many of them are nothing more than novelty). You don't even see many people in vanguard costumes, but you'll certainly hear about it when those people think they've missed out on something (even if they won't actually use it, such as badges).

Most of this thread is nothing but whining (in general) and poor assumptions (to prove the whining). Time after time someone has asked why the full set costs what they do in response to a heavy, and yet has anyone asked why such a limited one off pet costs 250 merits by itself? Why? To advance agendas, of course (Which is why it is conveniently listed as the set, rather than specific purchases. Maybe children fall for such tricks. Or politicians, they're essentially children, anyhow). We'll likely (or probably have) see a thread in the future asking why the heavy costs 250 merits due to its limited nature. It'll no doubt be argued with the assumption that you can only use it once, but a single costume piece is unlocked forever.

Then it isn't an actual suggestion.

It has been said time and time again, if you want to get actual dev attention then you really have to put in the work to get into the pecking order. Even certain devs have projects that they can't get the appropriate time on from the needed areas, so if you want to actually be taken seriously, you don't waste their time in this forum without putting forth some very serious effort in a suggestion that is well researched and well thought out.

Postitron's, Numinia's, etc., - there is just nothing for sale until you get to 50. Maybe it's the deluge after AE, but there is a severe lack of them right now.
It's been heading that way sharply ever since merits were introduced. And every time they increase leveling speed it just makes the matter worse. When you combine the current fast leveling speed with those sets dropping at max level, you wind up with a situation where no one is at the low to mid levels long enough to get enough merits to keep supply up. Some things, like the +stealth IOs pre-25, are basically extinct.

It has been this way for a while, and we get at least a few threads per week on it. Try searching next time.

Yes. I know on Virtue we never have less than 2 instances of PI now. The ability to farm solo has made the game a farmer's paradise. A lot of the posts you see about people not finding teams isn't so much that the game doesn't have a population anymore, it is largely (though not exclusively) a product of people no longer needing to team.

You'll actually see this fairly regularly in the various Archetype boards. People are specifically citing their builds as vs. AV, exclusively teaming, or for farming. The trivial nature of the content of this game has created such extremes. I've even seen the less mature players suggest that any build that can't farm (per their defintion) is therefore gimp.

The game is already very easy. The fact yourself and others think it is a grind is why so many have just gone to farming. People are more about the loot and doing something trivial than actually enjoying the game for what it is. A Scrapper in the mid 30's should be a cakewalk for standard content, even with straight IOs.

It won't change until changes are made to merits, specifically. I don't see the recent changes to the game, such as leveling speed, difficulty sliders, etcetera, being changed any time soon. The best you could hope for would be that the merit system were changed not to pump everything out at max level. Still, that would only impact those invention sets that are in those pools. It would do nothing to address the fact that simply fewer toons at any given time are playing in the low to mid levels these days. The game has become very much loot oriented and the difference between rewards at mid to high levels is simply staggering in the post AE economy.
  10. I love the work you do, Devs, but one of these days you'll figure out that there is no difference between "Can the players exploit this" and "The players are going to exploit this".

If there is even a glimmer in your mind that something is exploitable, it will be. The need to fix these issues after the fact only irritates players.

This one wasn't thought out, in the slightest. It won't happen. It can't happen. Nothing is more constructive than shooting down a bad idea at the onset. Some ideas are just not feasible, and this is one of them.

  14. Who says knockback is poor mitigation?

((BTW, I like the responses I've seen so far. Knockback is but one mitigational tool, but its particular properties really changes the responses here (particularly the benefit of potential knockback when held.......mezzes aren't quite the same threat level for Energy Blasters as they are even for other knockback equipped Blasters). If we were talking stuns or holds, I can see these responses changing. Whether any of those things has a chance for effect or "guaranteed" effect also has a potential to change how you deal with the situation. And, of course something short of mitigation, such as Fire/Fire, really changes these responses.))

Sounds like a giant pain in the neck for the devs for little or no benefit for the players. You already see the inherent problem there yourself: which buffs would count? You couldn't even limit it to ST vs PBAOE. It would have to be on a power by power basis, and even for the people that turn down certain buffs they only do it for a tiny few (meaning, of course, that any attempt to generalize it would resort in the user either disabling the feature or being prone to in combat menu choices). There are a lot of buffs in this game and the vast majority of the time every character wants nearly all of them. There are situations, of course, when a certain character in a certain situation doesn't want one, but that varies a great deal.

You'd trade one annoyance that happens a fraction of the time for an annoyance that comes up much more often. If you really think about it a moment you can see the trouble here. It's really no different than most issues in this game of this sort..........player communication is by far the most appealing option to resolve issues. You can't simply have the devs attempt to solve all of your problems, because inevitably everything they do has the potential to create a new problem.

This would be no different, and I'm sure these kinds of reasons are why this oft proposed idea has never seen the surface.

And your role in making sure it all works is? This is a two way street, and that is often forgotten by the folks that don't dig the knockback. The biggest problem melee users have with knockback is they don't often work with it. Most maps have some form of structure. Go to that structure, rather than just engaging mobs in the middle of the room....particularly if you have any means of a taunt aura to bring them with you. Then everyone is happy.

I play all sorts of toons, and I don't have these problems. Play smart. Communicate with your fellow players. Have fun. It's as simple as that.

Oppressive Gloom's health drain is pretty minimal, and really a non-issue. The problem with using it is more a case of what you will stack it with. The Ninjas have some stun on their own, and Dark has howling twilight on a relatively long timer. Fearsome Stare already takes care of the alpha, though.

I like Oppressive Gloom a lot when you can stack it with something like Thunderclap, but for a set like Dark that has no other real need to be in melee like that, it isn't as easy to recommend.

    Carrion Creepers

They do follow you, but because the way the power generates vines, you do get more of an impact by casting them than if they produce on their own. Therefore, I favor a high recharge with them, loaded with some accuracy and some procs.

You can't even take the time to name an actual poster in this complaint. Please do us all a favor and refrain from posting in this particular forum. You clearly are not capable of doing even the amount of work necessary to complain correctly, much less enough to make an actual suggestion.

This is the suggestions forum, not the complaint department.
