mastermind build/ set up for my wife
I would suggest she play a Robots/FF mastermind if her heart is set on a mastermind. I would not suggest a mastermind for the out of the box experience of a new player, perhaps a blaster or corruptor.
Triumphant Defenders Forever
Psylenz FF/Psi, ArticQuark Storm/Rad, Symon BarSisyphus Bots/psn, Max VanSydow Thugs/Dk, Cyclone Symon Bots/stm, Blue Loki Ice/Cd, Widow 46526
HelinCarnate:OMG it is so terrible. I have the option to take 3 more powers but no additional slots. Boo F'ing hoo.
Bots, thugs, or necro
/Traps, /FF or /Dark for secondary.
Any combination therein will be decently powerful and easy to learn. Masterminds are simple as long as you give her a set of pet macros, which will make her handling of any set much, much easier.
I have Attack, follow, goto defensive, set all pets to passive with no positional command (hit defensive follow or goto then passive to make the pets stay where you want them) and set all pets to aggressive with no positional command (for hunting strays in a defeat all)
I've got defensive goto and defensive follow set to Q and E, and those two macros get me through 90% of encounters. Defensive follow will clear your pets aggro list and return them to you and defensive goto will send them somewhere without clearing aggro list, allowing you to move them with no breaks in attacks. I've actually become so habitual about hitting E to return my bots to defensive follow when running around a mission that I do it alot on other characters.

Traps has some interesting features for an expert, but it's a bit finicky to use, and we're talking about a newbie here. That leaves Bots/FF and Bots/Dark. I've heard good things about Bots/Dark from other people, but I myself have more experience is with Bots/FF. That is the combo I can personally guarantee gives a smooth, easy ride from level 1 all the way up to level 50.
thanks for the help.
You might want to consider Mercs/Pain Domination.
The mercs are quite tough and they prefer ranged so they hang around the MM getting heals. Pain Domination will be a bit less tedious than having to re-apply two bubbles to six pets every four minutes.
When you get some spare inf you can set the pets up with the achillies heel resistance debuff proc and the lady grey negative damage procs to give them a bit of a damage boost.
I do agree with the above poster on the intricacies of traps, however Bots/Traps is pretty smooth with just the FFG and the protector bots bubbles.
I would definately go with Robotics as the primary, those little bots are tough, and prefer to stay at range. They also provide some nice defence to each other and the MM.
Pair that with either Force Fields or Traps for extra layers of defence. FF is easier, but Traps is more powerful.
Pain Domination and Dark Miasma are alternatives, PD is more healing, Dark is more debuffing, but the PBAoE heals work well with the robots that like to stay close.
British by act of union, English by grace of God, Northern by pure good fortune!
hey guys and girls, my wife will be joining me to play this game soon, she is NOT nor has she been a player of MMORPG's so it's going to be a bumpy learning experience for her, I explained to her the 5 different AT's you can play and she expressed interest in a MM, I was wondering if you guys would have any tips for a first time player of this game, as far as set up power sets etc, that she can read up on and maybe pick from. she'll be teaming with me most of the time so it should be fun, I can play most any AT in the game so she'll have either a brute to tank for her, or a corrupter to heal/buff/rez her.
thanks for any and all help. |
If she is set on MM, I strongly Recommend Bots or Thugs as her primary and Traps or Dark Miasma as her secondary. These are very beginner friendly secondaries and primaries, excellent right out of the box.
Not only is Bots functional and the most novice friendly MM primary..it is the most aestheticly pleasing as well! Traps has really fun animations too and is highly functional, as his Dark Miasma.
