BUG
cce # ccEnergyMorph is still not working. The other cce's are. -
Please tell the Devs who will be doing the answering not to waste their time answering questions that are readily available and found in official announcement and FAQs like:
Will we be able to switch sides?
Are there new emotes?
Do I need a computer to play the game?

Let them ask in Player Questions and we can handle those. -
Quote:Or... he does it because even though he hates it, but he doesn't hate it that much to quit over it.Can we please put a halt to the "Jay hates Furries" crap?
If he really had a problem making certain costume pieces, he wouldn't be employed very long.
Castle didn't like proliferation, but he makes it happen because it's not worth it to quit over it.
Posi hates clowns, but... oh wait, he's still getting his way on this one. We'll have to talk to War Witch...

What we should all get over is stop calling it 'furries' unless someone is ERPing that way in the game.
Animal pieces is animal pieces. If anyone calls it 'furries' again, I'm going to start reporting them as trolls to the Mods regardless of whether they're pro- or anti- 'furry.' It's a loaded and inflammatory term and shouldn't be used any more. Even in jest. And yes, we all know who I'm referring to. But from this moment on, I'll be making a stink about it with the Mods if it's used again referring to an animalistic costume pieces. -
Check out this thread, Common Solutions & Posting Guidelines
Then post the results of these two programs:
- CoH Helper - it will show us basic computer settings and your CoH configuration.
- HijackThis - it will show us what's running on your computer concurrently with CoH. Click on "Do a system Scan and save a logfile." It will automatically open up Notepad and put the info there. Make sure Wordwrap is off in Notepad (Format > Wordwrap unchecked) before you cut and paste here.

Quote:Your graphics driver is out of date.
Video Device Name: ATI Radeon HD 4800 Series
Manufacturer / Chip: ATI Technologies Inc. / ATI Radeon Graphics Processor (0x9442)
Video Memory: 512.0 MB
Driver Version: 6.14.0010.6983
Driver Date: 7/14/2009 10:27:52 PM
Also, you have **a lot** of background junk running on your computer. When you start up your computer the following programs also start:
- Peggle Games
- MS Messenger
- Java updater
- Both(!) Corel and Microsoft productivity software
- Acrobat 'helper' program
- Windows Live
- Real software 'helper'
- Nero software 'helper'
- bunch of Logitech, pointer, display, scanner, bluetooth, graphics 'helper' processes you probably don't use and don't need (the actual installed drivers or MS default drivers usually run them just fine and don't appear in the start-up registry)
- Quicktime 'helper'
- Steam 'helper'
Also, something odd: it seems you have AVG and Norton and Zone Alarm all running and yet a HijackThis analyzer I used said you didn't have any active anti-virus scanner running.
Your saving grace is your quad core. While CoH uses two thread, your other two threads are running all these other processes. On older machines, this would make the game stutter. On your computer, it's probably only a small hit to FPS, but a dangerous way to tempt fate: someday one of these background processes is going to conflict with CoH software-wise.
It's usually wise to strip all these programs out for a gaming rig. It's also usually wise to get rid of them anyway. Do you remember which ones asked your permission to install themselves in your start-up registries? Probably none. That makes them malware, or at least intrusiveware. A well-behaved program starts when you call for it; and when you close it, removes itself completely. It doesn't secretly set itself up to start each time you run your computer.

When Ultra Mode shadows were introduced in Closed Beta, the shadows actually did track the sun from horizon to horizon. Given a 20 minute 'day', this made the shadows of the tall building move ridiculously fast, especially near dawn and dusk (*much* faster than they do now). Also, there were no UM Shadows for nighttime (by design).
And so, we asked that the shadows be slowed down and that there be nighttime UM shadows.
I made the suggestion that -- since the nighttime shadows would move even faster with only a 10 minute 'night' -- the nighttime shadows be divorced from the position of the moon. IOW, let the moon zip across the sky however it currently is going, but have shadows that track a virtual moon that was only going from 60 degrees over the horizon east to 60 degrees over the horizon west. Or, just give us a static moon-shadowscape. The Devs gave us the former.
They solved the problem with the fast moving daylight shadows by have a virtual sun that started 30 degrees over the horizon to 30 degrees over the opposite horizon. If you track the position of the sun and the shadows, you'll see that as the sun sets below the 30 degree mark, the shadows stop following it and simply start to fade out. And that reduced the speed of the daylight shadows, taking 60 degrees worth of movement out of the 180 degree track of the sun. -

Yes, the game changes. We've had a revamp of the game engine to make it look better. The devs tried real hard to keep older hardware and minimal settings working, but everyone needed to update their graphics drivers. It happens with all games that you play for years. Even console games will require a new console every 3-4 years to play the next installment of the game.
But also computers change. As you add and remove programs and visit websites, your hard drive and software registry becomes more and more a mess. After several years, it's not uncommon to see a computer pick up over 30 processes that are starting at start-up (most users aren't even aware of it).
So, that's two reasons why what worked a year ago isn't working now. You presume everything should just be the same and that is a very, very, very wrong presumption.
If you want help, post the results of those two programs linked above.
If you don't want help, don't complain. You're not helping at all if you're not willing to answer questions and post those logs. For all we know, you could have a computer virus that's the problem. And if we don't know that one way or the other, your complaint is useless as a data point for the devs or other players. -
They're not there for everyone. For some toons they're unlocked on Test, for others, they're not. No one knows why.

Subjective:
That skin texture of the Organic Armor is too smooth and shiny. I expect that when there are gnarly branches growing on a creature that it does not grow on smooth and shiny leather skin. I would think that the skin should have a rough texture.
The luminescent parts of both costumes should glow brighter.
And there should be more bits that glow on the Organic Armor costume. -
The Sound FX for Rapid Boil and Energy Morph don't play while Fly is on (they *do* for Dimension Shift... that's OK).

Quote:Thanks, that really helps to have this info!Thank you all for the feedback regarding this promotion. I would like to answer some of the more commonly asked questions.
Many of your questions are answered in the Going Rogue FAQ. As for some of the others:- As with most of our physical boxed products, the retail (boxed) version of the City of Heroes Going Rogue Complete Collection is stackable once, even if you have already bought or prepurchased the separate Going Rogue Expansion or the digital version of the Complete Collection.
- Thus, if you prepurchased Going Rogue, and you also buy the Complete Collection at GameStop, you can enjoy the benefits from both purchases.
- The five enhancements will not be purchasable separately when Going Rogue is launched. They will be exclusive to GameStop at launch.
- The five enhancements will be provided via a code that is printed on your receipt when you receive your Complete Collection retail box from GameStop.
- The digital version of the Complete Collection will be available from NCsoft for our US and EU customers on launch day.
- The Complete Collection Item Pack will also be available for our prepurchase customers on launch day.
Now... if you can get someone from Production to answer this question, we'll be golden:
The Loyalty Program announcement promised that pre-ORDERS will get an automatic buy-in into the Closed Beta (third tier).
1. Does that still exist and does that pertain to those who pre-ORDERED through GameStop and other retailers? And if yes, by what mechanism do they get into Closed Beta?
2. Does that apply to those who pre-PURCHASED, too? -
Way before City Traveler Vet Reward comes along, we get access to the three Vet Attack Powers. Those three powers means that there really is no need from me to take Hasten at low levels anymore, since those three attacks create an attack chain at low levels.
So... it's SuperSpeed first chance I can. It gives Stealth. Additionally, getting everywhere fast is my preference. My older alts provide the Stealth IO at first opportunity for full invisibility. And I like having SuperSpeed on during combat (I slot it with EndRedux).
SuperSpeed is augmented by picking up Temp Fly (from numerous sources, now) and having the GvE Jump Jet.
So, basically, I get SuperSpeed, and the virtual equivalents of SuperJump and Fly from early on. Skipping Hasten until mid-20s and having SS as the only powerpool movement power means that every build can afford to have Stamina by Level 20; which is nice since I take Hurdle along the way increasing SS's mobility. Once I have Stamina, then I can afford Hasten End-wise. -
There needed to be a 'body blow' and a wryyyyy.

Quote:For some strange reason, the dummies are programmed to spawn like NPCs... sometimes they're there, sometimes they're not. That caught me by surprise, but I logged in today after having been away from the game for a few days, and I find the War Zone dummies just aren't... There. I kind of need them in order to do a little mock-up clip, and they're gone.
Aside from those dummies, is there any other place in the (hero-side) game where I can find things I can attack, but that won't die, hurt me or run away?
Rezoning often makes them spawn. -
Yeah, I mean for it to be 8 v. 8. But to give the clones a chance to fully spawn and buff up before all 8 of you engage them.
-
Quote:Or, try this. Have just the team leader in the mission and spawn the last group and run out.We can always try it again with buffer enemies and debuffed enemies
Let them buff up like you do and then go in to engage them. See if that evens the playing field. -

Well, the important thing is that I hope you all had fun!

I'd like to here from any MMs who've soloed the Mako Patron Arc with the all those KB'ing spouts.

SLI is enabled but unsupported for CoH. Those using it have said they've gained 7-10 fps (which, on top of frame rates of 30, is significant). However, I thought Nvidia SLI required both GPUs to be the same, no?
ATI Crossfire definitely allows the two GPUs to be different models, but Crossfire is not available at all for CoH... yet. -
I am Clockwork P45-35, your new red name for salvage.

Quote:I'm pretty sure Protean told *War Witch* "Requiem sends his regards" for a completely different reason.Wait wait wait... Protean, the in-game character, was working with the mysterious stranger who has been sending the Ouroboros letters and who directed him to Praetoria in the villain arc. Protean, the red name, says "Requiem sends his regards," and there is reason to believe Requiem might be the one sending the letters given the context of the letter in the Fall of the 5th Column Ouro TF, the only one that's actually the same for both sides.
