If your mission isn't showing a way-point, it's either a hunt (Defeat 10 Hellions) or the door is in another zone.
Be specific. What zone are you in? Give us the text of your mission.
Use the train (Shows as T on your map) to get to different zones. -
When you open your "Missions" window, what difficulty rating is showing?
-
Would paying for a name change ($10, I think) slide around the Friends list? Not fair to make you pay for others annoying you, but it might solve the problem.
Similar with a server transfer.
Also, keep chat logs of harassing behavior, as they are useful when you /petition.
A /ignore or /gignore (global ignore) will pretty much prevent them from contacting you, but will not remove them from you from their friend's list. -
No snark, just curiosity... what's wrong with the real black market in CoV?
-
For ease of travel in the Shadow Shard, there is a jet pack vendor.
It also works outside the Shadow Shard. -
Agreed on "OMG NEED A LEVEL 50!"
I've been here four years, and I heartily concur that this game starts at level 1 (or Level 0, if you consider the costume creator).
Ask your questions here, browse www.paragonwiki.com or ask in the help channel, /hc.
/hc How do I get a cape?
There are many things for a level 45-50 to do, and many long-range, long-time-investment ways to make your level 50 better, and more in the works, according to our Official Game People. This should answer the question of "end-game" that seems to come up so often.
The sidekick/lackey and exemplar/malefactor systems allow people of very different level to team up and be appropriately rewarded. It's a great feature which other MMOs should steal right now.
Level Pacts allow two characters (Level 5 or below) to sync up their xp gains so they are always the same level. Great for consistant teams with a friend or spouse or SO.
I would also suggest joining server channels, like Teams, Task Forces, or Badges, or Forums, to build yourself into the community.
A good supergroup (one that doesn't treat you like a indentured servant) can also introduce you to a lot of neat people. Of course, at level 10, you can start your own!
The Mission Architect allows players to create their own story arcs and put them out for others to play. There are well-written, challenging stories out there. Unfortunately, as human nature goes, there are also blatant farming missions designed with high reward/low risk.
The danger of an AE farm for a new players is that they emerge (after several repetitive boring grinds facing the same wimpy enemies on the same wide-open map) with several new levels and powers, but no experience in applying them to a variety of challenging opponents. -
Mutants and Masterminds is also a Pen-and-Paper superhero RPG, and it has limitations on how many ranks of a power you can take, and how bonuses stack.
However, as the GM, you still have to pay attention to players who build, within the rules, characters who are exploitative.
"No, you cannot be Insubstantial (but still able to affect the material world) and constantly Concealed, and have a Force Field, and be Invisible, and have a capped Defense." -
Everything is easy. Until it becomes your job.
-
Supergroup storage bins can be used to transfer influence, in a round-about fashion.
-
Justice or Infinity seem to be the most populated, after Freedom and Virtue.
As for how to find global channels, I'll leave that to someone else. Can't quite remember how to do it. -
This game exists in a modern world with F1 and football. So, your character talking about the game last night is acceptable. Just because you shoot laser beams out of your eyes and fly and defeat enemies by drawing on negative forces, doesn't mean you can't have cable.
As previously stated, Virtue is the unofficial role-playing server, although there is an RP presence on all of them. There are no rules enforcing IC/OOC in any Virtue chat channels, so it's more of a supergroup or team convention. There are folks on Virtue who do not RP. That's allowed too. -
We don't know.
If you ask Official Game People, they won't say. -
Strange. Take us throught the steps you do to try to UPGRADE your existing account with the CoV Collector's Edition.
Or, was it created with the CoV Collector's Edition? If so, you can't add another CoVCE code to that account. -
Flight at level 14 will be a revalation to you.
Don't say "WHEEEEEEE!" too loudly. The neighbours will complain. -
Other than straight up travel powers....
Supergroups can build bases, which include teleporter rooms, which allow quicker access to most heroside zones. You can join a supergroup if you have a full account, and start one at level 10. Bases are not small efforts, so read up a bit if this interests you.
The Pocket D Nightclub can act as as shortcut between King's Row, Faultline, Founders Falls, and Talos Island.
The Vanguard Portal can be a shortcut between Atlas, Peregrine, and Founders (I think). Level 35+ only.
The Ouroboros Portal (level 25+, and other requirements) can be a shortcut between Atlas, Talos, Independence Port, Peregrine Island, and Founders. Strangely, the Ouro Portal can also get you to "Board Train" missions... Do the Menders have some deal with Paragon City Transport?
You can purchase a one-shot teleporter to Wentworths, from Wentworths. 10K influence I think.
If you have money to spend... The Good vs. Evil Edition includes a 30min recharging teleporter to Pocket D (see above) and a jump pack, which massively amplifies your jumps. Good for capping your flight speed, or getting over vertical obstacles with Superspeed, or Superjumping really, really high.
The Mac Edition (which works fine on PCs too!) includes a 2hr recharge Mission teleporter. If the mission is selected, and includes a "door" or instance, then it will teleport you right there, across zones!
Any Edition can be used to UPGRADE your existing account, which will add the goodies to all characters, existing or to be created, and one month to your playtime. Each edition can only be used once on an account though.
Various Day Jobs can also accumulate travel abilities, including Wentworths teleporters, base teleporters, and jet packs. -
Wall of Death will be hosting the Lord Recluse Task Force.
This will be happening Sunday July 5th, on Victory Server, Level 45+, starting 4pm Eastern, 2pm Mountain.
1) Wall of Death (Zombie/DM Mastermind)
2) Maslow (Pets/AOE/Tactics Crab Spider)
3) ????
Yes, you want to get into the SHOE-y Goodness! Post here if you want in! Or send a tell to @burner24 -
The MINIMUM level to participate on the Imperious Task Force is level 35.
The enemies in the task force set themselves on highest level team member.
So, you may gather a level 35-37 team to do it, and the enemies will be based on level 37.
Whereas if any member is level 50, then all the enemies will be based off level 50.
The Imperious Task Force is pretty popular, as mixed hero-villain teams can participate, those level 35-49 can get xp on it, and it tends to be a near continuous slugfest. -
When you first click your "Find" button, it only shows people in your zone.
It does not show people in missions in your zone.
It does not show people in other zones.
But it can, if you select the right criteria in the search window. -
Use the help channel for questions.
/hc Where is the Detective in King's Row? -
To exemplar, the only requirement is that the pair must be at least 3 levels apart.
To sidekick, the the higher level person must be at least level 10, and the pair must be at least 3 levels apart. -
The filter is there. It doesn't remove that section of EULA.
I'm pretty sure the game doesn't have a giant "chat-swear-detector" running in the background. GMs only get out the nasty tools when they receive a petition. -
Since you're level 5, I suggest you head to King's Row, and talk to the Detective on your contact list in King's Row. He'll give you a police scanner.
The police scanner shows on your contact list, and gives you infinite randomly generated missions if you are in a level appropriate zone (King's Row 5-10, Steel Canyon/Skyway 10-20, Talos/Independence Port 20-30... etc)
Complete 3 police scanner missions in King's Row before you hit level 10 (there is an option to turn off xp, just in case...) and you'll get a Safeguard mission. Complete the Safeguard mission for 2hr jet pack!
Wheeeeee!
