Brand New
Not sure how long you've been gone, but just so you know, you now also have City of Heroes now (in case you didn't know)

Yeah i saw that it was a package so im looking forward to creating a hero. Played a few MMOs but got tired of them pretty fast and after preordering Champions i figured i would get back into the swing of things with this one. Been reading through the forums to get a better understanding of it all. will be on a majority of the weekend getting familiar with the game.
Well if you have an old account and know the login and NC account information you can upgrade with a new box product code and still have your old toons (unless you've already made a new one, which ... well, it's new anyway!)

Hello to all. Im new played CoV long ago. But never got into it much. Recently moved back to TX and since my copy of Cois instorage i decided to purchase a new one. All information is appreciated and as soon as updates are finished hope to see and meet some friends in game.

Welcome back, and forget everything you thought you knew about the game .
So much has changed (in good ways) that you'll trip yourself up less if you assume this is an entirely new product.
So what would be the best server to jump on if i need ingame help. Since i will be treating this as a new product (Human_Being).
Any of them should be fine, honestly. Well, cept maybe Freedom, but it depends.
I think there's been rather confusing changes to the 'Help' channel, but that should generally be the right place.
Since nobody else has pointed to it yet: check out the ParagonWiki. It contains a LOT of helpful information that I would definitely advise reading over.
But welcome back!

/hc How do I get a cape?
Also, the trainers have now been equipped to answer a lot of questions.
If it's not too late, I'd try to dig up your old account information and upgrade it with your new box code. Characters are not erased after any time, so they still exist.

Freedom has the largest raw population (it also has me if you're playing Villain Side ). But just about any server will offer you supportive people to answer your questions. The game is just as congenial as when you left it; that much hasn't changed.
You can also converse in the server's HELP channel by typing: /hc <message>

The help channel is server-wide, but not cross-server. There are cross-server 'global' chat channels, but help isn't one of them. So when you ask a question on help, it only hits folks on the server you're currently connected to.
Do note you may need to fiddle with your chat window settings/tabs a little to make sure the help channel is displayed. I'm not sure where the help channel is displayed by default.
The most populated server is Freedom. Virtue is a close second. Thus, you're more likely to get a response there. I think Virtue's more helpful than Freedom, but I'm biased because I play on Virtue. =) Honestly you should be fine asking on Freedom.
Infinity is reputed to be the third biggest server, but if that's true it's still quite a bit behind Freedom and Virtue. Justice is supposed to be close to Infinity.

Ok I made a tank on virtue last night. server seemed pretty empty. Got to lvl 5 then went to sleep (gotta be up early for work). But now its the weekend and i plan to grind like crazy. Is it better to team to lvl or should I just solo to get my lvl up. If anyone has time tonight could they help me lvl a bit and give some advice. Also I was in atlas and couldnt figure how to get to galaxy. noob i know sorry guys.
A few things:
Virtue is one of the larger servers. I am not sure where you were looking for people there, but there should have been plenty of people around.
Teaming generally nets you more XP per unit time. This is mainly due to the ability of a team to go through content faster.
To get from Atlas to Galaxy, go to the train station (identified on your map as a "T' icon), go through the larger, main doors, and click on the train. It will bring up a list of zones that you can get to from there.

<QR>If you chose to go to Atlas Park, there's been an Atlas Park 2 on Virtue for a few days now, it could be that you landed in that one instead of the spammy.. I mean busy one.
Since you're level 5, I suggest you head to King's Row, and talk to the Detective on your contact list in King's Row. He'll give you a police scanner.
The police scanner shows on your contact list, and gives you infinite randomly generated missions if you are in a level appropriate zone (King's Row 5-10, Steel Canyon/Skyway 10-20, Talos/Independence Port 20-30... etc)
Complete 3 police scanner missions in King's Row before you hit level 10 (there is an option to turn off xp, just in case...) and you'll get a Safeguard mission. Complete the Safeguard mission for 2hr jet pack!
Wheeeeee!

Also keep in mind that most of the content in this game is instanced. So while there might be a lot of people around, the majority of them are likely to be somewhere other than the zone maps.

If the play feels like a grind, "yur doin it rong" . I concur that you should go to King's Row and do Scanner missions. When you get the "Protect Atlas Park Bank" mission from your Detective contact, I'd recommend looking for some teammates if you don't have them already; some people that have been through it before. The Safeguards (and Mayhems on villain side, where you get to blow up cars and fire hydrants and stuff; come, come to the Dark Side.) are failable and they can be tricky if you don't know what's supposed to happen.

Theres a way to get there by just running through zones, but it takes a while to learn the layout of the maps and most people use the Train anyway. You can use Vidiotmaps if you find yourself disoriented.
Oh, and "noob" isn't an indictable offense in this game .

As mentioned by others, teaming is the key to fast XP. When you do a /search command to look for teammates, the window includes people already on teams (there's no way to filter them out ) and it truncates the results list. That can make it seem like there are few people available to team with. So make sure when you search for teammates to set the level range, to filter out folks way above your level. Even then on Virtue you'll often get truncated results, so learn to break your searches down. Do one search for Defenders/Controllers, then another search for Blasters/Scrappers, etc. By doing this kind of filtering you'll see that there are usually a lot more folks available to team with than it appears at first.

No problem, everyone is new once.
Use of the train has been mentioned above but I'd just like to add that on the Map window there is a tab called "City". Clicking on that tab will show all the zones, how they connect to one another, and which train lines ( yellow and green) connect to them.
Rolling over each of the zones will show its name.
Oh, and welcome to the game!
