I can do you one better than that, roll in the 10-14 bronze and you'll get that Steadfast unique quicker. There are fewer recipes in that lowest group so your chances of getting either the Steadfast Unique or Steadfast -KB are greater. And if your current level is 30+, once you win it out of the 10-14 grouping, it'll automatically be a level 30 recipe.
  2. I'm trying something simular with my claws /wp brute, so here's something a few things that might help you. I haven't leveled this toon up to 50 yet, so take my suggestions as you will. Getting your typed defenses (building upon your starting point of heightened senses) up to at least 30% in each should help you significantly. As much as I'd hate to do it, replacing all of your crushing impacts with smashing haymakers (or if you have the money Kinetic Combats) will help you get your smashing/lethal up. I generally slot my defense toggles with Serendipity 4 slots, thats cheap and gets you to where you need to be and gives ok bonuses. I'd also swap out Shockwave for Eviserate, you don't want that KB on Shockwave booting everyone out of your RTTC area. Lastly, I don't know how much you like Teleport friend and Caltrops, but adding either Combat Jumping or manuevers would further boost you defenses.

Here's my spin on your build:

  3. Here's my build, my DB/SR natural scrapper is sitting at 46 currently and is alot of fun to play. I took body mastery as well, but instead of ET took PP (can you take ET without two preliminary picks from the epic set?). I also took attacks for both the AV and Sweep combos, I know however that you are not rolling the sweep combo, so thats your choice. For /SR I always 4-slot my toggles with Serendipities, they are dirt cheap and give decent bonuses for the set. I also only 2-slot the passives with standard defense IO's. That generally gets me to the softcap easily and lets me be free in my slotting of my attacks for whatever works best without having to worry about full sets of Mako's for ranged defense or ToD's for that added melee defense. And the Steadfast unique is a must, like others have mentioned, not terribly expensive and quite easy to get.

  4. I was considering /inv for my new claws brute as well. I've got to imagine that once you hit 28 and get invinceable, added with the great new difficulty slider and tons of mobs around, hitting that defense softcap wouldn't be so hard. Then with the solid resists and near perma dull pain added to that, you'd be pretty unkillable.

End of the day I went /WP, I love willpower. =)

I'm afraid I don't quite follow you. I solo'd mostly before AE, and AE was my first real run at grouping and like was mentioned earlier, it was easy and fast to find a group and get going. Now with AE dead, and I do mean dead, and with the great new difficulty slider it sounds like most are off solo'ing again, me included. I'm not sure who this makes happy, unless you were one of the people "offended" by the broadcast chatter in Atlas. /shrug.
  6. My new main is a level 45 BS/SD scrapper and I love him. I've been able to drop Parry out of my build as I hit the softcap without it. Superb ST damage and very respectable AOE damage with Slice, Whirling Sword and Shield Charge. Plus BS has great mitigation with all of it's KD's which really helps with the new difficulty slider and facing lots and lots of baddies. I open with build up and shield charge, throw in a Whirling Sword then basically one shot everyone who is still standing.

I also have a FM scrapper at 50, and he was a beast. Fire Sword Cirlce seems to be the best AoE power of the AT and when combined with a Shield Charge, I can only image carnage. Greater Fire Sword is no slouch and most of it's attacks are mostly fire so it shouldn't be resisted as much as the S/L of the other sets including BS. Fire has no mitigation though, but makes up for it with DoT's and IMO more damage = more win.

    Is it here?

With my level 45 BS/SD scrapper I jumped on and tried various settings on the difficulty slider. I finally settled on +2/+6 (I'm not quite softcapped for defense yet, attack chain isn't exactly as smooth as I'd like, and the blue bar was getting taxed), but quickly ran into the first big problem with the new super solo mode. I was doing one of Gaussians missions in the RWZ and was supposed to join Lady Grey in springing a trap on some rogue Vangaurders. I found and rescued her no problem, then in the ensueing ambush I was blowing through a full room of baddies with no problems then got the loading screen. Lady Grey didn't last a minute, she must not be as uber as I. =(
  8. So I've had no luck with the search function on these new boards and I've now scanned through 30 pages without a single post with FA/Axe builds or guides. I'm beginning to think I might be the only one of my kind out there. In a world of Stone and Shield tankers, I'm looking to toughen up my level 41 Fire/Axer Cherokee Sun. I solo alot, but don't mind grouping if I can find one, I've never PvP'ed. I've found myself heavily laden with endurance problems, and every build I come up with I run out of slots. I also really need to step it up a notch and add some defense to help my surviveability, how close to the softcap is reasonable to stack with my resists, without spending a ton on the build?

Please, any help would be greatly appreciated. I want to love this toon and get back into playing him, but it's a tough road.
  9. I'm recently returned to the Blaster side from a long stint scrapping and have a simular Archery/Energy build I'd like for you guys to take a look at. Knowing what I do about slotting, I tried to hit the ranged defense cap as early as possible while staying on the cheap side. I'll manage to hit the ranged softcap by the early 40's and then run out of slots at the end. I'm only level 36 now, and this will be my first Blaster to 50 so I'm not sure how the epic pools perform. Like most, I took munitions and also LRM for concept reasons. Would the Achilles Heel proc do any good in surveillance, I've got one of those stored?

    DB/SR build

I see nothing glaringly wrong with it. I would add a second slot to practiced brawler so as to make it perma. The passives really only need two slots, the amount of extra defense you get from that third slot is meager at best. But since you only had to fully slot up 5 from your primary I guess you had plenty extra slots to throw around. The only other thing I see that you could play with is the full set of makos in Vengeful. You don't need the full set bonus as you are well over the cap, and you might get better mileage by frankenslotting it, maybe a useful proc or something. And I always like a jump or Zephyr or two in my travel powers...just because.
  11. Here's my basic ElM/SD scrapper build. Everything on the cheap, utilizing Multi-Strikes, Mako's and Serendipities, the expensive stuff I mostly got from level 10-14 bronze AE ticket rolls. Softcapped to the positionals by level 42 with 45.2% melee, 48.4% ranged and 46.9% AoE. Last three picks I haven't made up my mind yet on, I've always like OWTS for the added resists and Hasten looks appealing as that would keep Lightning Rod and Shield Charge up more often.

  12. Looks like you got everything there for a good starter BS/SD build. The only thing I personally would change is I'd take True Grit earlier and Battle Agility later. Pre stamina running those toggles and not being able to properly slot your attacks just hurts, and bad. You'll get a lot more mileage out of just 3-slotting true grit with healths to boost your HP's, and it costs no endurance. AoE damage isn't that major in the early, and ranged...well just run up and whack em in the face, that'll deal with that. You will get next to nothing for slotting true grit for resists, so don't worry about that, if anything try to get you a Steadfast res/+3%def unique to go there.

I generally never put more than one edurance reducer in AAO. Use every slot you can in the early game to get those attacks 6-slotted.

Finally, once you get to the mid 30's, start looking for those generic IO's and the cheaper IO sets. Sets like Multi-Strike for AoE's, Mako's for melee and Serendipity for defense are cheap and will go a long way to maxxing things out, giving you nice bonuses and working towards that final build with softcapped defenses.

Best of luck to you, my BS/SD scrapper was a ton of fun getting to 50 and has turned into a real workhorse in the late game. Hard to kill, dishing out serious single target damage and respectable AoE and Arc damage with some KB thrown in. And grab and slot Shield Charge the minute it's available and not a minute later, it's just THAT fun.

    Dual Blades help

Yea, I never really used the lower level combos at all. But the moment you can start the Attack Vitals and Sweep combos, grab them and have fun. Like most have said, start your combo with Blinding Feint, the roll into the AV combo. Fire off the Sweep combo when you need a second to catch your breath. When you can get yourself positioned right with a large group in front of you, the combos combined with the AoE and Arc damage will put some nice orange numbers up to ALOT of baddies. It's fun.
  14. The Electric melee and defense sets in I-16 should be fun if you can wait a little bit.

Like Werner I've had a blast with my BS/SD scrapper, who quickly made me put my 50 FM/WP scrapper in retirement and became my new main. Shield defense is just that good, shield charge is my favorite power in the game and it's quite easy and cheap to softcap those defenses.

I also really enjoyed the road to 50 on my DB/SR scrapper. Some will say the animations are hokey, but I like them and never get tired of firing off combos, it definitely adds a new dimension to the scrapper primary. And /SR will always be a top performer one you hit the 40's. I can't tell you how many teams I've been on that has wiped, and there I am still swinging away until everyone makes it back, surrounded by mobs and fresh corpses.

FM/WP was easy mode. Willpower is strong and it's great to jump into a large group and never see your green or blue bars move. And Fire melee is just damage, tons of damage, and then an extra few ticks of sweet dot damage to top it off.

I took it on my DB/WP just so I could get CP and I never, ever use it...never use CP either actually thanks to Stam and QR...heh...
I've never taken FA, so I can't speak to it's usefullness. But I rarely have endurance issues on my DB/SR so I'm not sure you'd find much use for CP either if you've slotted everything well. And yes, it would definitely be overkill on a /WP toon. =) But if you were going concept to get ET, then I spose your stuck with them. My DB/SR toon is a concept build as well so I went and got myself shuriken and caltrops and hardly use either.
  16. Yea, it doesn't make much sense to drop something that costs no endurance and gives such a nice bonus to defense. But /SR combined with /DB can be a tight build, so I worked back from Elude, combined with what inexpensive IO sets I could buy to see if I could skip any. It seemed like all my sets had bonuses of ranged defense, so it was easy to drop agile and still hit the defense softcap.

And I really like the sweep combo and Typhoon's Edge, so I always make room for those.

Same with me, got the name Packmaster held so I'll be making a werewolf type claws brute. That leaves me looking at /SR, /WP and /Inv for my defenses.
  18. Wow, you went from poor and with only generic IO sets in your last post to a really dueced out and on the expensive side build on this new one. Those three sets of Oblits, one TOD, set of PShifter, the LoTG recharges and the 3 slot Zephyrs are gonna run you quite a bit more than my sub 20 mill softcapped BS/SD build I suggested. Looks good, if you have any doubt how it will perform endurance wise try it out on test first. I always like my attacks six slotted so I might do slice and parry differently, but I haven't had parry in my build in a while so I'm not sure how I had it slotted.

Exactly, why spend two power choices on something that popping a green or two could do just as well, and without having to worry about being interrupted. My DB/SR seems to not get hit much at all since I've hit the softcap, I'm carrying fewer greens and purples now.
  20. Has anyone that has tested electric melee on the test server noticed if they fixed the problem with damage procs in the AOE powers?
  21. Here's a build I came up with, I know it's cheap because it's what I ran with on my DB/SR scrapper up until the Body Mastery as I took the powers for the sweep combo instead.

Agile is not needed, the ranged passive is easy to skip because the Mako's and other sets give good ranged defense bonuses (including the Zephyr universal travel powers I dropped from this build to keep even cheaper).

  22. I'm set on a claws Brute for I-16 (will be my first go at a villain), but like others I'm torn on whether to chose /WP or /SR. I've played both to 50 as a scrapper, so I know /SR is tough at first but matures nicely later in game, while /WP starts off fast out of the block but lacks that true uber feel late game.

My main concerns in what to chose is twofold. Price, because this will be my first toon redside. I know you don't need alot to make /SR shine when fully slotted. But likewise, /WP didn't seem that expensive either as I never really tried to hit the defense softcap. And second, jumping in to huge spawns with the new difficulty slider. I'd almost give the /WP the nod here, as I know with my scrapper the regen from RTTC kept my health bar (and stamina bar as well) pegged no matter how many opponents I faced and how much damage I took. I'm not as confident with /SR in those huge battles.
  23. IO slotting will help you a ton and to be honest, it can be almost as cheap as buying the level 40-50 crafted enhancements if you look for the good cheap sets like Serendipity for defense, Mako for melee and Multi-Strike for PBAoE. A better use of those AE tickets is to buy the bronze 10-14 sets at 60 tickets a piece. Sell the junk, but you have a good chance at pulling in the Steadfast 3% Def (which you could use one of), Steadfast -KB, Kismet 6% Accuracy and Regenerative Tissue +Regen. Any of those will sell instantly at WW's for at least 20 mil. Then you can start to kit yourself out easier and with nicer IO sets.

Here's my build for my level 45 BS/SD scrapper who is sitting at 46 currently. Started out very cheap like I described above, then switched out with some nice unique IO's I got in those lucky 10-14 bronze bags and was able to ditch parry and still hit the softcap on defense. The only real expensive thing I had to actually purchase was the ToD set to help me hit that melee softcap.

    Reward Bag Rolls

My search-fu is off this morning and I was unable to find anything, so my apologies if this has been asked and answered. Is there any guide or resource or spreadsheet that has been compiled that shows just what IO recipes can be found in what group (Bronze, Silver or Gold) and at what level range? My thanks to any information someone could pass along, just got my first level 50 and I'm looking to put some IO sets together, and WW's can be mighty pricey. The random recipe rolls from the AE tickets might work better for me, especially if I was trying for the right bag.
