Archery/Energy - Ranged AOE Hoverblaster

Hiya folks, It's the ever inquisitive one again The title really says exactly what I'm shooting for with this build. I realize single target damage is lacking without the two main ST damage dealers, but thought with the boost range and the massive AOE damage I can bring to bear my Alpha should be pretty nasty. I took two mag 3 stuns to keep bosses docile until I'm ready to deal with them. Once again I've stepped into something new to me. I've added in Aid Self for the solo experience, and as a band-aid for the agro this build will undoubtedly generate in groups ( hover out of range and heal ?? Never done it so guess this is how it would work )
I tried to get as much ranged defense ( around 31% with hover ) and recharge ( around 117% ) as I could and still have max damage from my attacks. I do have one purple set and a single LoTG so it's a bit pricey, although not through the roof I wouldn't think.

I question my recovery ( only 166% ) and it's ability to allow a fluid attack chain for extended fights. I'm also not sure if my defense is sufficient to the task.

Try this. It picks up that extremely important single target attack that you dropped, Ranged defense is at 34.8 so a small purple insp will soft cap you to ranged and it has better numbers vs AoE, recovery is better and end use is low.

Range on Fistfull is greatly increased making it useful with an extreme range strategy.

Take Blazing Arrow. Find a way to fit it in. You will regret not having it.

With that much Ranged Defense, you could easily drop the Medicine pool and rely on +Regen and one or two Heal procs to keep you in the green.

+66% is plenty. I've done duo AV fights with ~50% +Recovery on my Archery/Energy (hover blaster), one which lasted nearly ten minutes, and never bottomed out the blue bar.

Thank you both for the replies. I've reworked my original + Miladys_Knight's wonderful work to arrive at this. I have a bit more defense, Regen, Recov and Rechrg with Total Focus and Manuevers taking the place of Aid Other and Aid self. I switched Super Speed to get Total Focus in. I've created Torqueflight on the Virtue server and leveled her up to 8 in short order. So far, so good I look forward to her growing into this build.

I'd slap a RECHARGE IO into a 6th slot in Rain of Arrow.
My RoA is 18,6 sec (plus animation time ofc) and still too slow when I team with my colleague, a Fire/Kin. He's in the 15-17 sec frame.

Maybe drop LRM if you don't need it for concept. I'm a purist for my archer, no high-techs.
I can see a tactical advantage with your Boost Range though, then follow up with RoA. Wonder how hard it is to pin moving (towards you) targets with RoA.

It isn't actually difficult to hit moving targets, you usually will want to lead them a bit counting about 3 seconds a head of them. It just takes practice. Here is my archery/energy build. Made him for maximum survivability. Has nice amounts of recharge, I am considering come I16 slotting in a gladiator's armor + defense to give me some more flexibility with the build, I'll probably get rid of Manuevers and slot in Hasten or something a long those lines to improve his recharge.

I'm recently returned to the Blaster side from a long stint scrapping and have a simular Archery/Energy build I'd like for you guys to take a look at. Knowing what I do about slotting, I tried to hit the ranged defense cap as early as possible while staying on the cheap side. I'll manage to hit the ranged softcap by the early 40's and then run out of slots at the end. I'm only level 36 now, and this will be my first Blaster to 50 so I'm not sure how the epic pools perform. Like most, I took munitions and also LRM for concept reasons. Would the Achilles Heel proc do any good in surveillance, I've got one of those stored?

You'd want the Achilles' Heel proc in something that recharges quickly in order to maximize it's usage. I don't think surveliance fits that bill.

I've been working on a similar blaster and thought this would be a good place to see how my build looks. Its got 40.5% ranged def from bonuses which becomes 45.36% (soft cap) with Hover & Maneuvers turned on. It also has Hasten & an extra 51.3% recharge time.

What do you folks think? Other than it being incredibly expensive and will take me a very long time to be able to afford. I've got about 70m saved up so far though!

With a 70 mil budget Tenacious T, you're really going to have difficulty putting that build together, or even getting a decent start at it. The Thunderstrikes and Makos aren't bad, so getting those slotted up won't be difficult and will do alot to getting you towards that ranged defense softcap. The Posi's on the other hand are now quite expensive and rare, I was shopping for a set last night, and you really need them. And making it worse, I think you're really gonna want to 6 slot your three Posi sets with more recharge, you definitely want RoA and Fistful up as often as possible. I'd almost drop Explosive if I was you, it will be expensive to slot, and if you group much, everyone hates that 3.32 power scatter KB. And finally, to be reasonable and try your best to get your build to work and be affordable, you might want to reconsider the LoTG recharges and the Zephyr KB, the cost of those are going to kill you. I've got builds simular to yours in this thread and that other Archery/Energy thread, if you've got any other questions shoot away.

I totally agree that 70m is nowhere near enough. Even things like Thunderstrikes are a lot more expensive than I remember them. And Posi's have always been pretty pricey, so I know I'm getting into an expensive build, here. The LotGs are something that will have to be added later, I've got no doubt about that, but they're more of an extra perk than an absolute necessity.

And I'd absolutely prefer to have full Posi sets, but then I'd be having to steal from other sets. I didn't know that people hated Explosive so much! It's kind of slow, especially when used with RoA & Fistful. It was really useful back before RoA, but I find myself using it less and less now that I'm in the late 30s. Maybe if I take out Explosive I can 6-slot the Posi sets by shuffling some things around?

I actually use Explosive Arrow every mob when I'm farming Archery/Energy. I have 5 pieces of Posi's in it, and Force Feedback Chance for +Recharge. I line up RoA, with someone near the middle of the mob targeted, and then queue Explosive Arrow. Even the stuff that's about to get torn to shreds gets targeted by Explosive Arrow, and I proc almost every mob. The end result is without any purples I still average firing RoA every 21 seconds.

I never fight AVs on mine, at least not solo, so I don't have/need anything purple slotted. Posi's, Decimation, Kinetic Crash, Basilisk's Gaze, and Doctored Wounds for global recharge and I'm golden. I haven't found a use for getting any defense at all because BR+BU+Aim+RoA+Explosive ends everything but bosses, and 1-3 bosses isn't an issue.
