It is a power that kinetics and trappers will easily adjust to and everyone else will suffer with.
-
I never had issue with it, it was a tool I used as soon as I received it, and frankly loved it... but... I had a mitigation tool to use so that it was safe for me, in the case of my sonic/psy blaster a cone sleep.
Just like any other power, it is a tool, and tools have proper ways to be used so that the user doesn't get hurt. Heck, caltrops would frankly be enough mitigation to use drain psy in quite a few situations.
But you have to think powers like this thru. For me, it was essentially FS which I have TONS of experience with.
The best use is of course on large stationary groups, but you will get hurt if you don't have any mitigation or defense; and honestly, I don't know that you really were surprised you were getting laid out when you were using it if you had no mitigation or rushed a mob before a tank or anyone else to take the alpha; which is what most often will lay you out... the alpha strike of a mob.
Get defense, get mitigation.... and then you have a FANTASTIC power which.... completely mitigates the -END drain of nukes with enough targets.
Only tools I use for my blaster on mitigation are cone sleep and invis...
Sleep the mobs or run in invis, hit the DP and nuke. I'll still face plant occasionally... but the risk you take when you are trying to maximize the buff. -
For every other MM set I skipped the personal attacks...
At a minimum, I would suggest taking the cone attack; any -resist attack is worth taking, it just means more damage for you when your pets are wailing on them.
1st attack is ranged as well, which is great for pulling....
but again, at a minimum... cone attack, if damage is a factor... any -resist attack will increase your total output. -
In response to the team teleport...
I do use that tactic on my ninja/storm, and for a group of henchies that are generally all over the place, they are right in the thick of it always, no provoke necessary... this however may be because of storms massive agro.
I've often thought about adding it to my bots/traps... but I don't have it in the build to give up anything. It is lots of fun though and takes the micromanaging out of MM pets. -
Team TP will help keep them in line...
Provoke will keep them alive mixed with O2, you can manage to keep them topped off easily.
Stamina isn't needed with traps per say, but personal taste. -
I have a ninja/storm... and I easily qualify him as my "Funnest" MM to play... mostly because of all the mayhem going on, add in group TP... and it's a traveling party.
There is a reason you see a shortage of mercs in game..... -
Quote:HEY! I don't go to where you work and rally the line to revolt at the Post Office, don't make fun of me just because I have a squeek nose and big floppy shoes.Look, they're NOT going to put something into the game just because some clown suggested it on the forums.
I always thought a MM set Clown Summoning would be great. You could hit the summon power, your char would pull a horn out of his pocket and squeek it, shortly after, a tiny car would pull up and 50 clowns would get out!
I can even think of a power! Clown pulls the string of hankerchiefs out of his pocket, and lassos his target and pulls him closer to the group. Lets not forget the acid spraying flower for all my minions. -
While reading this... and because I am currently medicated to a lovely degree, it occured to me...
If we a playerbase would be happy with a "limited" selection non-color customizeable backpack options, they could be put into the game via temp powers sold at a new vendor in ICON?Facemaker... absolutely no effect, no endurance, toggle or click with extremely long duration.
This could be a temporary option or possibly perm if we are satisfied with content, and easy to upgrade art for to keep fresh... and allow for an additional free point. -
If your after recharge, why wouldnt you have suppressive? 4 slots of basilisk gaze for recharge, 2 slots for flavor... I slotted 2 chance for holds... a most useful tool.
-
Easiest... smash/lethal defense to cap...
Second choice would be directionals... -
Call me a fan of ninjas/storm. It's awesome sauce in an economy size jar.
group TP is your friend. -
See, I find unsurpressed movement a buff as well as the recharge siphon provides, triple stacked...
Like any Kin, it will come into it's own at 35/36... FS is just gravy when you reach the point of limitless endurance to toss out however you desire.
Unsurpressed leaping...
You have to be careful, buffs are buffs, .... no resist buffs, no to hit buffs, no defense buffs... but it has speed leaping, damage, endurance and health buffs... a heal is a type of buff if you think about it. -
I was happy to assist. I hope you find the info useful while you level.
-
"control" over pets is an illusion...
If you saw the things they do behind your back when you're not looking... you'd know that. -
Interesting.
I don't care enough to debate it though.
All I can say is... I tank AVs with a bots/traps/mu with medicine, speed, leadership and presence.
As long as this is possible, a debate at min maxxing is the equivlent of deciding which road you want to take from Los Angeles to get to San Francisco... the direct route or the scenic; both will get you there, but which will you have more fun driving?
It all boils down to personal preference.
Good info none the less. -
Slot em with endurance reductions.
It a) reduces endurance nessesary to cast b) reduces the endurance they require for their powers. c) team with any set that can boost recovery. -
Depending on ED, sure, if the bonus drops significantly, as seen in seekers, then stick with damage.
-
Yeah, in most cases, a third SO/IO is overkill and doesn't accomplish much, so their arnt many powers that would get three on a lvl 50 build I do for that reason (hasten and other select LONG recharge powers)... just not enough performance for the slot basically.... but leveling up is different.
Very nice build, you should do well, just remember, its the achillies heel proc you're after... for a nice AoE -20 resist affect... off of acid mortar that likes to fire lots. It won't stack with itself, but it will go off plenty, atleast once for every mortar laid on the ground (10 shots).
You may at some point also decide to swap the damage in electric fences for range, capturing more mobs for the bots to destroy with AE; it's not your damage that's important, it's theirs, your major damage source. >>

Quote:Hey Hey HEY Hey.....I'm loving it, regardless of being level 30, it just takes lots of skill :P
I have skill! TONS OF IT!....
Some mornings thou....
I don't remember where I put it....
It takes a die hard or a sadist to take /kin and lvl it up without stamina... (and I would be pointing a finger at me, and Im leaning mostly twords sadist) -
Ehh, repel is nice, if you have the endurance to deal with the drain on it...
Short term fix, get fitness pool > stamina until 35, respec out... you wont need it anymore after 35/36
Once endurance isnt an issue, you should not have any more problems.
Suppresive is under rated.4 gaze of basalisk, 2 chance for hold procs... and you have a very good chance at making that boss stand still while you wipe out his friends.... and if he comes to, it's fast enough to stack.... or should be with enough recharge, hasten, siphon speed... et al...
the basic point is, it's going to suck, and it's going to suck big time until mid 30s... accept it, keep your eye on the prize, and move forward to it! The payout will be worth it. -
Very nice. It should level you up nicely.
If you can find it or spare the inf, get achielies heel proc for acid mortar. If you need a slot, pull it out of caltrops (dmg)... the proc will effectively give you more damage than trops can put out..... -
Ahh, you updated the build...
Nice. Last comment would be seeker drones... end red to recharge red... by themselves, pretty useless, but as an Alpha soaker, they do their job and then some by taking the big hit... the more you have it up the more useful... Don't think of them as another pet, they move too slow to follow you around, but their summon range is enough to put them in the middle of spawns without agroing... -
I see the question... I just don't have time to answer immediately... I will however in an hour or so... promise...
but yes, and yes.... and any end reductions you have slotted NOT in pets or pet buffs... swap to recharges. -
Either that, or pull the immob from web granade or electrfying fences... Generally, the mobs are dead long before those will expire as it is / and or the slots in Vengence since it is extremely situational...(team/dead teammate)... and place them were they will be utilized more.
Web grenade is great for building up agro on a target... but so is taunt, and slotted with the psi proc, taunt is an end free attack (presence pool, and I tend to go with ST over AE for faster recharge)...
I would, personally, re-slot all end reductions not in petsor pet buffs with recharge... You will have a hard time bottoming out your stamina with the fitness pool as it is.
And moving manuvers and SS till the 20s will get you stamina that much faster... personal taste thou.
recharge in tripmines wouldnt be a bad thing either, as in your career you will try toe bombing, we all have... and when it starts working (which it will), you'll want it up more...
All in all though, a solid build for a bot/trap... atleast until you start delving into IOs.. -
Take advantage of the fact that siphon speed doesnt suppress and most minions and lts will get stuck in melee attacks once in range... stay a few steps ahead of em while blasting and waiting...
I actually use a blue shield pet with great luck, it stays alive most of the time, but that's because Im speeding away from it generally so it misses AOEs... (not on purpose, just avoiding mobs, it moves slow)....
