Quote:I like the "angry loner" Hulk best, but I can definitely see how he would be hard to write, which is probably why they keep straying from it. It's hard to bring a character into a hero vs. villain plot when the hero just wants to be left alone. Rick Jones can only get captured so many times.I like the Hulk but he is a hard character to keep writing interesting stories for.
Or sometimes the villain (especially the Leader) would go out and capture the Hulk so "he doesn't get in the way". Even when I was a kid I knew that was ridiculous. You know how to keep the Hulk out of the way? Ignore him! Don't bring him to your secret base so he can can escape and rampage through it! -
Quote:That's actually one of my reasons behind my idea for seperate pools for Melee and non-Melee- defense sets could then be balanced on their own merit, there's no need to worry about how the set performs once Tough and Weave are added on top. Some powersets like /regen have very little in the way of defense and resistance, and few opportunities to slot those sets. Taking the Fighting pool is a good way to supply those things, it's not necessarily stacking anything.
I'm not actually calling for a nerf, only that characters who already have entire powersets devoted to melee and defense powers shouldn't feel the need to take even more melee and defense powers. I think that's boring, but again, I realize not many will agree. -
Well like I said, I knew it would be an unpopular idea. I just find Melee/Defense ATs taking more Melee and Defense powers to be redundant and boring, and I worry they may replace Fitness as "must have" for a lot of players.
-
I'd like to see the Power Pools revamped as well, and made customizable.
A couple changes I would like (but I realize many wouldn't) is to buff the Leadership Pool, but make it Ally-only, and make the Fighting Pool available to non-Melee ATs only. Melee ATs would have access to a new Pool that would have ranged and maybe support abilties. -
Quote:I know, I just thought it would be cool to see 19th century Atlas Park, for example. No reason that It couldn't be the "Old West". . . It's not like Cimerora is ancient Paragon City. .
Although, unless they add horses to the game, an old west zone is going to lack a lot of flavour. -
It technically wouldn't be the old west, but 19th century Paragon City could be added to the Midnighter's Club portal.

"Greatest of All Time" has to be the most abused phrase on the internet (of all time).
Somewhere there's probably a "Top Ten Greatest Boxers of All Time" missing Mohammed Ali. -
A cut-scene movie sounds like my own private hell. I'd be banging away at the spacebar, screaming "When will they end???"
-
Yeah, even taking the Fitness Pool wasn't a very tough choice- what made it kind of boring was fitting all three powers in by level 20. We have three new power picks now, but not really a lot of interesting stuff to take their place.
-
The upcoming inherent Fitness Pool is cool news, it will allow a lot of characters to try out some powers they couldn't fit in their build before. To help maximize that variety, it would be nice if characters could (if they choose) take all five Ancillary/Patron Pool powers. This is why I propose moving access to these pools to level 35.
In conjunction with this, I would also open up Primary and Secondary powers earlier, so characters have access to every power by level 32 (as opposed to the current 38). This would give characters more powers to choose from as they level, which is fun, and adds a little more variety to the leveling up process.
I think having all the Primary/Secondary powers available by level 32 is also nice because that's the point where leveling transitions from the more power-focused "2 slots, 1 power" pattern to the upgrade-focused "3 slots, 3 slots, 1 power".
I realize this change would take some work, particularly moving the Patron arcs down to level 34, and there's probably other problems that haven't occured to me, but I thought I'd throw it out there and see if anyone agrees with the general idea. -
Quote:A movie isn't better just because it's faithful to the source. Someone could make a more faithful version of Wizard of Oz, but I doubt it will be as good as the 1939 classic. Kubrick's The Shining was much better and more interesting than the faithful TV version. You mean the one that's way more faithful to the original story that Roald Dahl wrote? The one that was considered a box office hit compared to that gross derivation of the original story made in 1971 that was initially considered a box office flop and which Dahl was very disappointed with and hated the changes so much that he refused to allow the sequel book to be made into a movie? The one where, when Tim Burton went to visit the author's former house to get an idea of what the guy was like and immediately recognized it as Charlie Bucket's house, Liccy Dahl declared that, finally, somebody got it! That version?

Quote:I got a couple really good names around when CoV was released that had to be due to freeing up names. Sure, I'm only one example, but it does happen.2) It has not been proven that any kind of name purge will free up any of the names that people are seeking. It is known that previous purges had VERY little impact- both from dev statements and anecdotal evidence. Even among those names freed, we don't know how many are DESIRABLE names and how many of these long-departed players were stuck using alphanumeric substitution and 1337 speak to get what they want. Either way, if you "raise the threshold" to increase the # of desirable names freed, then you also raise the barrier mentioned in #1.
And so what if it only frees up a few names that people will want? That's a few more happy players. For some people, a good name and character concept can reinvigorate their interest in the game as much as new content. -
-
I'm not a fan of the @global system. I think things are pretty good now, just keep freeing up names from old, inactive accounts. Paying customers should get priority over non-paying, simple as that.
Sure it may not make a huge difference, but a customer who lucks upon a cool name they were hoping for is a happy customer. -
Quote:If you're worried about hateful propaganda, stop reading that website.I was planning to go see the film tonight, but I just found a movie review which, if accurate, confirms that my suspicions were correct. I've suddenly lost all interest in seeing this movie.

Also- Thomas Jefferson didn't say that. -
It would be cool if they added a Power Pool to replace Fitness (as power picks, not in function), if not more than one.
Having to make choices is cool and adds variety, as long at it's a choice between two interesting powers, not a choice between interesting or "dull but required". -
My main (and favourite) build has a lot of psi protection, and it's nice to have a strong base defense against all damage types. I can save the inspirations/accolades/temp powers for extreme situations (situations where I'm suppose to have team support anyway.)
Impervium Armor's recovery bonus helps out too, since my build has a ton of recharge bonuses. -
What Scott learned was hard to miss- it was announced loudly and flashed on the screen.

Lots of good suggestions here. A few I haven't seen listed yet are Kid Cudi, Yeasayer, Hot Chip, Janelle MonĂ¡e... I'm sure there's more. The new Arcade Fire album is really good too.

Why things happen isn't always important. It didn't matter why Bill Murray kept re-living Groundhog Day, for example.

Quote:It's not a lot of help leveling up, but here is a screenshot of a basic Superman-style build at level 50.also, i'm a mac so those character builders don't work on my computer. are there any mac compatible ones?
It does use some Invention Enhancements, though. Every attack has an Accuracy/Damage Enhancement in them- they're very handy, and can be cheap at lower levels. Jab and Handclap also have a chance for Psi damage Enhancement, just for fun (since Jab doesn't need faster recharge.) -
I like the Daily Show and Colbert Report, but neither match the heights the Daily Show reached with Stephen still there. Holy crap, those were hilarious years.

Honestly, I wouldn't care if all my characters got wiped if it meant a brand new, updated version of City of Heroes. That would be the perfect time to start fresh anyway.
