They gave the name as Thomas Swift Jr, but the invention was one that Tom Swift Sr came up with.

And I have to admit that Tom, Jr.'s inventions blew Tom, Sr's out of the water for the most part, so he should be on there ahead of dear ol' dad.

Yep, or even Brainiac.

Professor Butts could be replaced by Rube Goldberg.

As always "Top Ten List of...." is flawed.

"Greatest of All Time" has to be the most abused phrase on the internet (of all time).

Somewhere there's probably a "Top Ten Greatest Boxers of All Time" missing Mohammed Ali.

I wouldn't say Brain was a great inventor, seeing as most of his inventions failed or were horrible misused by said inventor.

He was more a schemer, that Brain!

He didn't invent anything.

Brain's inventions worked perfectly... his plans for what to do with them, not so much. (Breaking into Fort Knox, for example, was easy... being defeated by the mere subatomic weight of gold and the strength of the average mouse hits hard.)

I also owe Brain for the best mark I received during my French degree for helping me disprove Barthes' theory of comedy... Narf.

Necessity being the mother of invention, Mr. Scott can knock up just about anything you need whether it previously existed or not. Reactor parts, experimental weapons, whale tanks, bows and arrows, Scotty can figure out how to get the impossible done in 20% less time than he's quoted you.

Scotty didn't invent the whale tank, he built one -- big difference. He did invent transparent aluminum, but only from the perspective of 1986; from Scotty's frame of reference, it already existed.

People would disagree with me, and I would hear their arguments while giving my own......but where is Batman?

Anyone who can use materials to have a high tech suit still be considered to be state of the art 20 years later (Batman Beyond) deserves mention, even if it isn't his primary profession.

I know it varies based on the interpretation, but doesn't a lot of his tech come from prototypes invented by other people within Wayne Enterprises? Certainly this is the case with TAS/Beyond and Begins.

Along with Brain, what about Dr. Doofenschmirtz?

Scotty invented a means to transport to a ship moving at warp speed. In the new movie, the original Spock shows the new Scotty the original Scotty's methods.

Scotty invented a means to hold a person in a transporter buffer indefinitely, which he used to save himself when trapped on the surface of a Dyson sphere.

With Spock and some shaky theory, Scotty invented a way to cold start the Enterprise's engines... which also created a short time warp.

And as for the list, having Tony Stark but not Reed Richards or Doctor Doom is full of fail.
