  1. While the idea is good the offense may be more than you realize. Saying that Hellfire would be outdamaged by a Tank until a certain level ignores the fact that most tanks don't have enough damaging attacks especially at lower levels. They end up relying heavily on minor damage attacks that other ATs might skip entirely. Mine rely on Vet powers a lot. So balancing is trickier than it just range/melee damage ratios. It also means limiting powers or reducing damage further to match current ATs. So the numbers might have to be reduced based on how it plays.

Also for those who have done it, Tanking with a pet is just free damage (since you get all the aggro) until higher levels when either your pet can stand up to AoE attacks or it dies constantly. Try playing a 50 Brute and trying to keep a pet alive solo, it is near hopeless unless you have a very strong pet. Pets work best for those who aren't in the thick of things. This part would require a lot of playtesting to make sure you don't end up with a critical power that falls off a cliff at a certain level or a pet that is too strong.

I don't understand the reason for making it a EAT though. No reason we can't start making ATs that don't follow the normal path without being EATs. If anything the game has reached the point where that would be a good area for growth. Elementist would play to a wide variety of sets all of which have their proponents.

What would be fun for a set like this though is to have 2 forms (like Khelds) an elemental form and human form, where say your elemental form only lasts so long (with no crash) but you can command your pets (like MM) only in one form or the other (and various other powers are effected too). Then link Elemental form to 1st costume slot and human to whatever one you've currently chosen. That would be cool but obviously conflicts with what is a very clear vision on your part.

    Good work.
  2. How about a different system.

After an arc you can rate it. How about adding a selection to that that says "Currently Unplayable" or some such. An Unplayable flag immediately sends an email to owner. Then AE shows the number of times the arc was rated Unplayable since it's last edit. If you edit and reload your Arc it resets the Unplayable flag.

This would also make a nice selection criteria for avoiding/finding arcs.

Whether the devs want to clear out Arcs flagged unplayable and not updated for X days is another issue.

    Paragon Market

I thought that is what the tabs were for? I've never had this trouble and I use the Market a LOT.
  4. Having Hero equivalents to Villains is a good thing, but no matter how you do it it either requires a lot of time on Devs part or isn't equitable to players.

If you make all new arcs for Heros and/or powers that is time that can't be spent on something else. As has been pointed out if you add 4 more pools to Heros who already have twice as many pools Villains won't be pleased, unless Devs spend time on another whole round of rebalancing.

So as it stands Heros get more Pools but Villains have some unique ones. That is reasonably equitable to my eye. Any changes without lots of development time risk making it more inequitable rather than less.

Personally I think you should have to do EACH Patrons arc before you are able to access their powers and putting the same restriction on Heros with new Patrons would be fine too. It puts an additional level of achiement on them and prevents everyone from always doing "the easy one". But doing that would be most of if not an entire issue. That is a LOT of powers to mess with per AT.
  5. I understand this but other Free-to-Plays don't sell items that are one use other than rezes and such. You won't find 20 use weapons.

Replaceable doesn't matter if no one buys them in the first place. An item that is for zombie attacks that doesn't even get you through 1 zombie attack isn't going to sell repeatedly or otherwise.
  6. I looked at the new zombie defense offering and thought "I'd never spend actual money on a temp power with X uses unless it was a lot more powerful than that."

I was thinking what WOULD make me break out the cash without unbalancing the game?

For me a permanent temp power that ONLY works on zombies in Zombie Apocalypse would be far superior, I mean 20 rounds wouldn't even get you half way through 1 Zombie attack.

An even better option would be a permanent power that does full damage to Zombies in Zombie Apocalypse and undead in Halloweeen Events (minor damage otherwise). But with a new type of refresh. 6 shots (I'm in California you can't load more than that here) with short refresh then one long refresh while you round up new shellls and load them. This would actually give it more of an semi-auto shotgun feel AND keep it from being overused at the same time.

Multiple refresh times like this could make a number of powers useful without being totally game changing or unbalancing.
  7. I think what the OP wants isn't free access to Villain PPPs but all new ones for Heros which would be a considerable effort and a good thing on the surface but would no doubt cause another huge round of arguements among players.

Once both sides have PPPs should previously lazy Heros have to unlock them too? Once they do should Heros be able to use Villain PPPs and visa versa? It really doesn't make sense to swear yourself to Mako if you have always been a Goodie-two-shoes.

If you don't allow it people will complain the power sets STILL aren't exactly equivalent (or that they don't want a pet in set villains complained a lot about that). If you do allow it they will complain nothing in the game makes sense and there should be some consequences to your actions.

Lose/Lose: This is a good time not to be a Dev and stick to finger pointing.

Maybe we replace the whole system with a "free pick" system of level 1, 2 and 3 powers that you can choose from by AT (example: Doms have access to all the Dom Pools but have to take a level 1 power from some pool before a level 2, etc.) Then make the powers customizable so that they will fit any set. (of course some munchkin will find a way to break things if you do this but it is a nice dream)
  8. I can get behind this. No idea what it means to the system but if can be done without slowing things down it would rock.

I don't think we will ever get back full control over skin/costume color again (or nipples again lol) because children just waste too much of everybody's time and money enforcing decency laws.

UNLESS....they start instituting FINES. You violate naming/costume/chat rules you get fined X points from Paragon Market. If you don't have points your account gets closed and banned. Charging money might actually get people to police their own behavior a bit.
  9. I have long asked for a round bubble around a normal head for an old fashioned space suit look.
  10. lol Never thought I'd see the day that Heros would envy Villain Power Pools.

When CoV Patron pools came out people hated them and demanded access to hero pools (and the ability to change pools) until the Devs broke down and gave it to them. Very funny to see people saying they want pools like the Villains have.

Really the only difference between what is available now and a Patron type pool is a pet power. I'm not sure this game needs any more pets. heh heh whatever more choices is always better.

BTW What happens if you pick a hero Patron and they are the one killed in the VIP arc? Do you lose your powers or have to swap pools?
  11. Actually smaller SGs aren't as much of a problem as activity is. I have 4 solo SGs on different servers all with fully functional bases and full storage, it just takes a while to earn which, for me anyway, is the fun part.

I would like to see this functionality opened up more though. Solo SGs are just too dang useful. They are a huge advantage because you can store tons of expensive salvage and Enhancements. This is in addition to being able to design your own base, which in a normal SG only 1 person gets to do and everyone else just gets to look at.

At one point Devs were considering Lairs which would be like SG bases but only for your characters, so you could have what is basically a solo SG AND belong to a real group. Still a very cool idea.

The only incarnate thing I can think of adding to SGs is the ability to go to your base and invite people on either side to a League, teleporting them to your base in the process. Nice way to start up trials without waiting on people running about all over the place also gets you something different to look at while you wait to start.

    Stuck Mobs

This may not work well on a Trial where it is like herding cats, but anywhere else this problem has already been taken care of.

Aggro mob then move around corner where it can't reach you. Wait a minute or two and mob will pop out of wall and come after you.

I used to have that problem a LOT, but I never have this issue anymore by using the above.
  13. Probably been suggested before but I will put it out there again because it is SO critical. There needs to be some sort of Images connected to the items in the items in the Market so you can see WHAT a Circle of Thorns set looks like without going to tailor and manually finding all the pieces or diligently searching forums/wiki.

If you are trying to sell something let me SEE it! Much more likely to make sales that way I would think. And other FTP games agree since they have it.

Not sure what you would put for powersets maybe a page listing all the cool powers and what they do or link to demo video.
  14. AmazingMOO pretty much sums up my objections to the system.

But I could put up with it, if there was a resonable alternative to do when burnt out on Inc Trials. But all there is is regular Trials or a MSR.
  15. Hard to complain about the costumes in this game period. From release it always looked to me like everyone was playing a totally different game.

That said some of the latest packs (Steampunk, Animal and Halloween) were awesome. But I have no desire to ever get CoTs pack (which looks just like an existing set to me) or Barbarian (which I don't get period). So it is all a matter of opinion I guess.
  16. I agree with original poster. One of the best things aobut CoH has always been that you could solo whenever you wanted and still have decent progression. This is only true up to Incarnates now.

Why every MMO has to become a Raiding game at high levels escapes me. Why totally abandon the game that people played to reach 50? Everyone wants to be WoW but you won't get there by rote imitation.

I'd bet that Empathy and Pain Domination are supposed to fill the buff/debuff slot on this, and I don't think you could do much about claiming we need another Psi control set other than Mind unless you go the 'telekinesis' route, which is already filled by Gravity; I think there's already a power called Telekinesis. My Dom has it.

Get the feeling Dark Control is in the pipe for I22.

Energy Blast fills the ranged slot, pretty sure. I know doves ain't flyin' out of the attacks or anything, but it's hard to think of something different that doesn't step on Energy Blast or Radiation Blast's toes. Same goes for Energy Melee, Energy Manipulation, Energy Aura, and Energy Assault.
I have to agree with DeepBlue many powersets can fill a variety of roles especially now that you can customize them. The only thing that holds people back is their imagination. Just because it isn't called Electric or Mind doesn't mean the set can't be used as a Electric or Mind set by YOU. My toon Cheap Pirate Santa is a corruptor with cold powers but I didn't like the cold sets so I made my own. Energy recolored white works very well for this for example.

Don't let the Devs tell you what you can and can't do!

It appears there will be a lot of new powersets and costume sets released now that the game is "free". So the wait for new sets will apparently be shorter. What I wonder is if the port say Time Manipulation to another AT would you get it with the purchase you already made or would it be an additional purchase?
  18. Also Devs have replied on this subject that true wall crawling/walking is unlikely to ever happen for the same reason as vehicles or 3 legged/4 armed characters etc., because it means a LOT of additional annimation.

Their explanation is that the animations aren't from TRAVEL itself but from 1) mobs interrupting travel and from 2) you attacking mobs while stuck to the side of a building. None of the existing annimations can handle either situation.

    1) This means animation of you being hit while standing sideways and blasts hitting you in that position as well as KB knocking you off building.

    2) There are no crouched animations only standing ones. Standing sidways on buildings would look extremely stupid, but only other answer is to reanimate every single attack power in the game.

Unfortunately this is like adding 5 new powersets to the game to get one Travel power. I'd rather have the power sets myself. This is another item that just wasn't part of the design and needs to be included in the initial design of COH 2.0
  19. When does this kick in when do you get them? My anniversary date is the 1st of the month and no points yet.

I have an Annual subscription. Hopefully this isn't going to screw up monthly rewards (the old rewards system worked fine).
  20. If anyone is curious why they need to lock new free players out of Global Channels completely just play Runes of Magic for 5 minutes. Glold Spammers galore and they get new accounts and log back in as fast as they can ban them (which makes life even worse because if you report them adding them to you Blacklist, they just come back 10 minutes later with a new name).

It is insanely annoying. If we started getting that people would start leaving cause we are spoiled.

Sadly even tells have this problem as we have seen before that people write scripts that send tells to everyone on server.

Only solution I can see is a LFG channel with a hard coded message you can send out that says "Level ## class LFG" or some such but I'm not sure how that is much different than the LFG tool (other than no one uses the tool). This is good subject to make suggestions on as I'm sure the Devs had long discussions about this before Freedom released.
  21. More likely he someone who runs an organization dedicated to destroying any resistance in Praetorea, while in reality he is helping families escape and reigning in the worst elements of the Powers division and police from behind the scenes.

Why do you think they allow the 1st Ward to survive, instead of just wiping them out once and for all? Or conversely taking it back over (if most of the surface of the world is unliveable then one would expect real estate values to be quite high).

It is interesting that this is the same thing a lot of people say about Shadow Maul and Sands of Mu. While many of us have no trouble getting multiple mobs into the AoE. I get 2 or 3 mobs in the AoE of these powers almost every time I try, while others will insist that it is impossible.
  23. I like the idea as I have never liked the veteran reward program because it was too exclusive of new players. If they saw someone with a 70 week reward (random example number), instead of encouraging them to maintain their subscription it did the exact opposite since it felt impossible to reach 70 months (plus there would be 70 more months of rewards you would still be missing).

The new system allows you to choose rewards and if you are really desperate you can purchase items giving you additional tokens.

Unslotters are exactly what I have needed for so long I want to cry. Enhancers and Signature Character summoning are just cruel abuse they are so good.

I'm with you. While I love the costumes and costume creator I usually can only make 1 or 2 that I am truely happy with per character. And for my Widows well the Arachnos costumes are so cool I don't want to use standard costumes.

I do wish that Arachnos ATs could have multiple slots for Arachnos costumes if the want.
  25. Congrats.

I had much the same plan but a bit more aggressive (antisocial?).

I have soloed every AT to 50. I haven't got all of the varieties of Villain EATs to 50 yet but I did get both Heros epic AT to 50. Would have got spiders to 50 (in 30s now) too but got distracted by, well lots of things. lol
