Thought I was the only one that had that problem.

Magma bosses - why not try that mission with a full team - there will probably be plenty of them in there. I know in about 45 minutes, a team of two can get 100 of them in the hollows.

Oh, my best time was 7:36 with my fire/fire blaster. My scrapper just did it on 8:04

My absolute worst time was with my kin/rad defender. No defense, offense is weak, and I ran out of purples in the second mission and getting more would have probably saved time in retrospect, but I was trying to push it.
  2. I think that you should probably just play bodyguard and look out for the squishies. You may have all the defensive powers, but you won't have all the slots.

On the bright side, any debt you get is gone pretty fast.

Just relax and don't worry about defeats - unless they are because you're doing something crazy, like trying to tank at +5.
  3. There are a lot of good comments here.

I think it's enough to just say that there is no right or wrong way to do a taskforce - depending on what the plan is.

There must be someone leading the taskforce; someone who does the inviting - and that someone is typically the one who dictates what the plan of action is.

However, there are two things that lead to disappointment: Unrealized expectations and unrealistic expectations.

To be so ...focused as to believing that because you've done things a certain way, that it is the best way is just ridiculous.

I was on a Lambda incarnate trial recently and someone asked if we were going to leave the turrets alone. I'd been doing them every day since they had been published, and I'd never been in a league that didn't knock out the turrets. Yet, apparently, this was another way. Is it better? It all depends.

For best results, make some binds that point out your preferred play style. This way people know what's expected. Otherwise, there may be unrealized expectations.

    Burn Questions

    3) Is the proc only one per burn? Does each enemy receive their own proc chance or does it do one roll?

    4) Is it good as part of a single target DPS chain rotation?

I can't speak for the other ATs, but for a fire tank, when you use burn, there is an initial accuracy check. Say you have 5 goons around your toon, and you cast burn. There seems to be (to me anyway) an accuracy check for each one of the bad guys around you. It may miss on one, and hit the other four. But the subsequent ticks don't seem to miss.

The only time I've ever noticed the subsequent ticks missing has been when I was substantially debuffed (i.e. 6 or 7 Nerva Spectral Demon Lords ) or when I was tackling +4 level bad guys or higher.

In practical terms, I do not slot burn for accuracy. The recharge is fast enough so that when I'm done with the attack chain, it's recharged and I mash it again.

Whether or not to put a proc in burn -- well, the thought never occurred to me. I'd have to have some slots to "use up" to put something that is only gonna work 1 in 10 times, unless it's in a passive power like health or stamina.

When I use burn, I want to burn, not try to slow recharge or hope for a chance of build up. This is just me - I'm not right or wrong, it's just my opinion.

As for being valid for a part of single target attack chain, I still say yes. The endurance it uses is so comparatively small, and it's recharge is fast enough that aside from scorch, it's simply the best choice for me. Combustion is close, but the animation time takes longer than I would like, particularly for one target.

In summary, get burn, slot it with three damages and three recharge IOs or use two and two and use the nifty enhancement boosters on the remaining 4 and save yourself two slots. Or use an IO set for bonuses. But definitely get it and slot it.
  5. I agree. For now, I just have a list on notepad with my toons' names and dates.
  6. I think most of you already know what I'm gonna ask for.

Please, in the name of all the hilarious Monty Python skits- could you guys just slide the shop buttons another inch away from the little radio button that closes the pane? It's rather annoying to click that area by mistake.

We already have a much larger button to push if we decide we want to shop.

    Thank you.

    Missing Prestige

I have an SG base, and I am the only active member.

I check the registrar to see how much closer/further away I am from the top 100. (Hey, it's just something I do.)

So, I noticed that today I had less than yesterday. As far as I know, the only thing that's supposed to impact banked prestige is if someone leaves and that loss puts you below 15 members, or if you pay the base rent. I did not pay it.

So, why would the SG registrar show me as having almost 11k less than I did the day before. I ran a posi, a synapse and even a few hero tips in SG mode. So, I'd say I'm really missing almost 100 to 150k prestige.

Any ideas? Does waiting until two weeks after the rent is due cost some sort of interest penalty?
  8. I've not heard of anyone ever participating in a trade for one and getting ripped off. But....are there any horror stories?

    Why LotG?

The prices were consistent with what they'd been the past 6 months or so. (The time I've been watching) Then I clicked a level 30 recipe and noticed that somebody got very very lucky and or unlucky depending on the case.

In the history, among the 100 millions, was a single transaction for 12,000!
    I know I would've smiled!

Got a question though. I don't have a 50 I can farm with, and don't really require all that much. The 400 million I got off a lucky purple drop has lasted me over a year. It's just now getting low with all the 20 mill I'm giving out left and right.

So, I debated saving up A-Merits to get a Glad and become a billionaire for the 1st time. Or, just cashing in every 2 for a LotG along the way. Which of the two would you pick?
My apologies for being late in replying to this. I thought about doing what you suggest - saving the hero merits and getting one of those bazillion inf recipes. I did the math a year ago and determined that at

    $150 million per LotG = 2 H Merits.

If you converted from award merits, that's 40 million to subtract. 20 million for each one. So, you'd net 110 million. But, at 150 million, you'd have to pay 7.5 million up front, and another 7.5 million when it sold. So, you're 150 million recipe only nets you 105 million.

Say one of the PvP IOs goes for 2 billion. To reach the 2 billion mark, you would need 20 of the recipes, which at 105 million each, would give you
    2,100,000,000. That's using 40 Hero merits to get 2,100,000,000.

But wait. If I use the 35 merits to get, say, the Shield Wall proc and sell it for 2,500,000,000 I'm gonna end up walking away with a lot more! And, because folks are willing to pay above the inf cap, you MUST do this in a couple of e-mails or a couple of trades, and that saves you the 10% fee from Wentworths.

But wait! Don't those LotG's sometimes sell for 200 mill? Yes, they do. (but since the Signature Arc came along, the price has dropped for some of them I've noticed) But, let's say demand (with all these new Street Justice toons) creeps up again and the value remains around 150 million.

If so, it pays to hold your alignment merits. If you notice that the market will support 200,000,000 inf LotGs. After Wentworth and Award Merit Conversion fees, you get to keep 140 million. 140,000,000 * 20 recipes = 2.8 billion for 40 Hero merits.

So, with all that math stuff, I would go for the PvP IO.

    1. LotG prices are not as stable as they used to be. Each month a new arc is coming out, and I assume the same award table will come out with it. So, the supply may very well increase even more.

    2. The perception is that PvP farming has been ....adjusted. The drops are not as frequent as before (that publish that had MARTy.) Because of this, the PvP procs are even more rare. I don't think anyone will pay more than 3 billion for one because of the ease of earning a hero merit. (and then earning 34 more in the same fashion) Mind you, I find it hard to believe anyone would pay more than 25k inf for any IO recipe. Yet, it's done every day.

Because scarcity increases value, the PvP IO is a safer choice. And, if something about them changes, you'll have a whole bunch of hero merits to get something else with.

    Katana/Invuln

Greetings. I have looked over some of the Katana/Invuln builds within the forums, and the ones I've seen have used enzyme exposures.

I've got a level 50 that has been so neglected that he still has Hasten 6 slotted for recharge. He can still function, but I feel that if he's going to be an invuln scrapper, than he ought to at least have tough and weave - which he doesn't.

I've downloaded Mids and I can muddle my way through that process - but I find it far faster using other builds - no sense in reinventing the wheel.

My budget for this is about 500 million - plus, I have a semi-adequate collection of LotG 7.5% procs and a few miracles stashed in my base, as well as a some purples. - though I don't see a scrapper having much use for apocs or unbreakable constraints. I could put more money in the build, but I don't expect to play him daily, just every now and then when the mood hits me.

In the past none of my builds have ever focused on defense of any kind. However, when I got my fire tank the incarnate Barrier, I noticed quite a difference.
I certainly don't expect to get 100% defense or anything, but I'd like to reach the softcap -without candy.
I plan on going the cardiac route for the alpha slot, but am undecided on the others.

Seeing as enzyme exposures are random drops from either hami raids or Statesman Tfs, I'd really like to avoid having to use them.

    Anyone have any suggestions?
  11. I'm certainly a minority. I'm not sure how often you play at low levels - but the idea of putting more than a token slot in scorch seems kind of crazy to me.

In a way, I understand it, because if you want Fiery Embrace and Build Up, something has to give.

It all really depends on what you want to do with your tank.

I don't necessarily have any improvements - you have some good defense to counter your low resistance to things other than fire.

Myself, I agree whole-heartedly with the cardiac tier 4 - as this also has 20% resistance with it. Sadly, it doesn't take you from 70% to 90%, it just adds a little bit - one of the math gurus or Mids whizzes may be able to shed some more light (and likely already have somewhere in this vast labrynth like forums. )
I also went with Barrier - though I enjoy the extra protection, I would love to swap it out with Ageless to see how much of a difference it makes. In fact, I just might.

The sad part is that there are ways to get more recharge out of your build, but they are costly. A set of Panacea's would give you 7.5% recharge instead of the 5% of Doctored Wounds. And you can buy an entire set of Doctored Wounds for the price of 1 Panacea, and possibly have enough change to get an LotG proc.

How much inf do you have to burn?

I did forget this - have you not thought about getting Pyre Mastery and getting Fireball? I use this on my tank as much as burn.

It probably shouldn't even be IN that forum in the first place, as it started out as sort of a SG recruitment thread, but it has long since morphed into an ongoing historical record filled with tales of adventure and our own peculiar kind of heartbreak.

I understand that almost everything else in the Player Events section is just publicity for events that occur at a fixed point in time, and as such, rapidly fades away in relevance, but I personally feel like the Iron Eagles thread is different. We play by our own voluntary "hardcore" rules, and delete our characters when they are defeated. Many have fallen, and the characters are now gone -- only the tales of their epic deeds remain, in that thread.

I hate to plead for special treatment, but would it be possible to move the entire (admittedly huge) thread somewhere? The SG is based on the Justice server, so perhaps the Justice Server forum would be the best home for it?

That kindness would make us very happy and still permit the planned consolidation of forums.

    Thanks for reading,

    Is it Possible

Honestly, from what little you can recall, I doubt it.

However, you have nothing to lose by contacting support by phone.

A database is designed to access information by storing the records with a unique identifier. I doubt they use just your name because I suspect our player base has several people named John Smith.

What key they use to access this info could be your e-mail address, or possibly you username - but I doubt that because it's entirely possible that many folks pick the same simple username.

There's a shot - but you can bet if there was such a list of character names identified by account usernames - you wouldn't be able to access it publicly, if at all. (unless you worked for CoH)
  14. I had a small exchange over the global channels the other day about the "shorthand" and typos that occur so frequently in chat.

    Then I came across this:

Aoccdrnig to a rscheearch at an Elingsh uinervtisy, it deosn't mttaer in waht oredr the ltteers in a wrod are, the olny iprmoetnt tihng is taht frist and lsat ltteer is at the rghit pclae. The rset can be a toatl mses and you can sitll raed it wouthit porbelm. Tihs is bcuseae we do not raed ervey lteter by itslef but the wrod as a wlohe.

Dunno about you folks, but I read that mess just as easy as if it were written correctly.
  15. I don't get it.

Not based on functionality? At all? What's the point of a base if you can't tp to all zones or use empowerment buff stations or craft?

    I must be missing something.

I find it difficult to hatch my insidious machinations when the world does not exist. Many kittens have perished in the interim, and much of the fur is still in my teeth. My dental hygienist will likely cry on my next visit. I hope I won't have to aggressively silence him, as it is difficult to find a good dentist with industrial strength hardware. Kittens, while seemingly innocuous, are murder on the molars, you know... but so sinfully decadent!

And to some of you other forumites... you realize, I'm sure, that as often as people might post a repetitive topic, that responses like "Another of the same thread..." or "This doesn't belong here", or "The OP's title is blah-blah-blah" is not unlike the behavior you choose to chide. It is, in my opinion, a tad hostile and trite... generally I can respect that. Even still... this I find irksome, as I only want to hear admonitions from one dictator... myself. So how 'bout we each agree to rule our own fiefdoms, and only try to take over others when need for expansion demands it? After all... this council is to exchange ideals and information as well as being the occasional sounding board. If there is truly a violation we have moderators to handle it. It's the greatest perk of being dictators after all... delegating authority while alighting our thrones and gobbling up kittens. Perhaps those predilections are not shared though. Hmm... a world without kitten crunching... too horrible to ponder.

Well... I really need to mop up all this kitten juice before it shorts out another 'puter.

    Regards,

    Priesteater.
Although your name scares me, I think you'd be fun to team with.
  18. The difference a few extra hours of sleep can make! I'd read about the downtime last night, and stayed up a bit later and thus woke up a bit later.

Normally, I'm so irritated at server downtimes, I come on here and rant and rave. But, because they let me know last night, I was able to make alternative plans. So, I'm not so irritated.

I know that there are a number of folks who are. I do not think that any of us as players really know what's going in behind the doors at server maintenance time. However, if I read it correctly, this is a publish downtime, not maintenance. I'm not sure why they didn't do this yesterday - but I guess they have their reasons.

All I can say is when someone expresses frustration on the forums, try to realize that not everyone has had the benefit of the best education, and it's also possible that they are trying to communicate to the devs or just looking for someone that feels the same way.

Pointing out flaws in their logic, no matter how constructively done isn't going to do anything for anyone. That being said, I know I've bumped heads with a few people (figuratively, no real-life head butts) only to realize that it makes my head hurt and to not do it anymore.

Some of you write so well, and your thought processes are just seriously impressive. It's kind of troubling to see some of you use that to belittle someone just because they're frustrated.

    There is a better way.
  19. Thanks very much, all of you. I haven't had my morning dose of caffiene yet, but off the cuff, I'm shooting myself for not having realized that there had to be something like the ide to sata converter out there. After all, I couldn't be the only person whose hard drive keeps working.

In any event, I suspect that it was a good investment, and now, with two drives, I'll feel a little bit better, in case one goes out.
  20. Well, tomorrow, my new CPU, MB, HDD, RAM, DVD-Rom should arrive. I've already got the PSU and OS.

Sadly, the Newer MB options didn't seem to include any with an IDE header, so I've gotten a new SATA HDD.

Since I won't be able to just copy things from one hard drive to the other, given that I have Going Rogue on CD, how long do you think it will take to download the issues that have hit since then? I've got a thumb drive, but it's pretty old/small, and can only hold a half a gig.

Seeing as I've already spent more than I really wanted to, I surely don't want to buy some other drive that will hold the 4 gigs CoH seems to take.

I've got U-verse, and the cpu is an i5-2500k and I'm getting 8megs of RAM - so I'm expecting the download speed to be fairly fast - but the size of these issues has been pretty large, if I recall correctly.

    What do you folks think?

I did this solo with almost all of my toons. Oddly enough, my human only PB had the roughest time with about 18 minutes. But, that may have been the void next to the av, and I was running it at +2.

Most of my other toons, I had sense enough to reduce the diff to 0/1 to speed through them as fast as I could, sort of compete against myself.

I have long page loads, so the fastest time I got was about 8 and a half minutes. Suffice it to say that teaming for this one seemed to me to be a completely hilarious idea. In fact, I did team up a few times - and it always took longer with a team. It wasnt' any more difficult, but with load times, recruiting, afk time, etc. - let's just say that for this specific one, I will always run solo in the future.

I even ran this solo with my energy/energy blaster that I had just transferred to my home server -- not a singly IO is in him, and he still has hasten six slotted, and the attacks with 1 acc and 5 damages. Stamina is six slotted as well. All are SOs that are +'d to make each one level 53.

And, maybe, if I can ever force myself to do it, I'll respec him and put some generic IOs and a few lotg's in him.

So, yes, not only do I recommend you solo, I recommend you not team for this one.

Ok.....why? I play the market a bit - at least I sell stuff I don't need. I'll look at the price the last five paid and if bids are equal to or greater than the amount for sale, I'll list it for the price people seem willing to pay.

And you....buy all these and sell them for far less? Am I understanding that correctly?

So, when I cash my hero merit in for a random roll, instead of getting 5 recipes where 1 or 2 might be worth about 40 mill, and the others only 10 mill, because of you, They may all cost more to craft than the selling price.

This is fun for you? What's the point? Because I don't get it.

Just so long as the engine works differently (i.e. Better)than the one on these forums!
  24. Ok, I get that the ouroportal won't work if you're flying.

My toon just got afterburner. The power is on, but she's not flying. Yet, the ouroportal won't work - presumably because of Afterburner.

I like to leave it on because it has a pretty slow recharge time. It's my intention to use it as an out of mission toggle. If I turned it off every time I landed, I'd lose the time Afterburner saves me.

I know this is probably working as intended, but, it would be more fun for me if the portal could be cast while flying, or alternatively, let it be cast with afterburner on.

It's just an annoying thing to deal with.
