Timer for SSA rewards
1) Restart the timer on Tuesday, just as the WST is done. Personally I think this is the cleanest answer from a customer perspective.

2) Give the player the relevant information needed to know whether or not they can claim a reward. Perhaps this can be another dialog with the contact. Personally I don't really care what the implementation details would be, I just care that players get access to the information they need to know whether they are wasting their time when running the SSA. |
A note to fellow players - I am not interested in manual work-arounds, so you can spare the effort of typing them out. There needs to be an in-game solution, not a user's manual work-around. |
I'd like to see this too but I really doubt it'll happen. For now I'm keeping a written log of what day of the week I've last run the SSA for each character. It failed me today though because I re-ran it on a character I have noted as "Wednesday", but when the reward dialog popped up it said I am not yet eligible. I presumed that the devs would taken what they learned from TF reward timers and applied it to the SSA. The timer used to be 24 hours but that caused problems for some people so it got shortened. I figured rather than exactly 7 days, the SSA timer would be more like 6 and a half days. Apparently not.
So I guess I need to start logging not only the day of the week, but the time of day.
the SSA reward already is reset along with the weekly strike target, when the new targets are active the SSA reward is reset so 1 should be a non issue
if it was not reset with the weekly target they either stealth changed what they said was gonna happen or there are some bugs floating around with it

Since there is a 7 day timer and it appears to be per character/specific reward selection, I do hope the devs reconsider making it into a Tuesday reset. Right now, if I want to earn rewards per alt, I have to either guesstimate or start a spreadsheet.
A Tuesday reset (like Weekly Strike Targets) would be great. It means we'd still have a 7 day gate but have the ability to gain rewards on our own schedule. I might take my mains Friday night one week but not be free except Monday the next.
Please do change the SSA reward to reset when the WST reset.
Curious, where did you get that information? My searchfu isn't finding that information either way - that it is confirmed as a Tuesday reset or that it is bugged.

Definitely needs to reset with WST. Making a visible timer would still require you to log in and go check that timer. And the coding involved for that would be much more resource consuming than matching it to the WST.
I agree. For now, I just have a list on notepad with my toons' names and dates.

Bump.
We really really need a timer for this. Just something in the Tips tab showing us when we can run these again for reward would be great.

I would vote for that.
or
I think we need some way of tracking it in game, I can see major headaches once all 7 are up and running.

Do I /sign this now, or do I wait until it drops off the front page and then /sign it?
I'll just do it now. Either idea would be welcome. The Tuesday reset seems like the easier of the two for the dev team, since it wouldn't require any UI or dialogue changes. But either would be welcome.
FUN FACT: That burst of light when you level up is actually the effectiveness escaping from your enhancements all at once.
The thread may be past its sell-by date, but the issue it brings up is still relevant.

As to the topic I think a better solution would be to add a UI window that listed all the SSAs, TFs, Trials, etc that have reward tables with lockouts and then list next to each if you have no lockout on rewards currently or if you do state how much time there is until it expires. It's not specific to SSAs, everything in the game with a reward lockout has this issue, it's just more noticeable with SSAs because it's hard to remember after 7 days when you completed it last without writing it down there is no ingame indication unless you do an extra SSA and leave the reward table in your toon's face for a week.
I found out the hard way that the SSA timer was not reset on Tuesdays the first time I ran it yesterday. I got the message that I had claimed the reward(s) within the last 7 days and could not claim them now.
So that means this reward is on a 7 day timer. However, there's no indication of when a reward was last claimed. That means when I click on a character that I log in frequently, I have no way of knowing if that character can claim a reward or not, short of running the SSA and seeing what comes up.
I offer 2 suggestions to resolve this:
1) Restart the timer on Tuesday, just as the WST is done. Personally I think this is the cleanest answer from a customer perspective.
2) Give the player the relevant information needed to know whether or not they can claim a reward. Perhaps this can be another dialog with the contact. Personally I don't really care what the implementation details would be, I just care that players get access to the information they need to know whether they are wasting their time when running the SSA.
Perhaps there's an even better solution, but the current state is not satifactory and needs to be enhanced.
