You guys made this look too easy. Can I bring my level 6 Dom next time?
-
I must be nobody. I run paralytic on all my toons.

Quote:Sorry, Dr. Gemini - I'm certainly not trying to "attack" you, but the idea you show here - that there is some preconceived idea as to what role a tank should play. That role should be, and is, left to the players imagination.IMHO, I do not view tauntless tankers as being tankers. I look at them as someone who is playing a character with better defenses than a brute, but with worse damage output than other melee characters.
Now, while this game does offer tremendous flexibility in building characters, I don't think it is unreasonable to "want" a character to be able to fulfill its role. To me, that means a Tanker should want to have Taunt (the power) in the build and your defenses are adequate. I would think the vast majority of people would be able to look at it, say "ok we're good", and not have any reservations about that character.
Again, to me, I am one who enjoys the flexibility, but I also highly value not deviating too far from the central aspects of what my character is generally designed to do.
If in fact a tanker "should" have taunt, then it should be inherent. (And, in a sense, given punchvoke, it is.) That's not to say that I think tanks should feel free to not have taunt - I play squishies, too. I notice a difference in the damage I take when I don't hear a tank taunt.
For me, a tank without taunt is like an ice blaster without freeze ray. It's not necessarily critical to have, but it makes the job easier. -
For me, I prefer the reactive armor sets to Aegis.
I don't think end would be that much of an issue - but I've not played an SS/FA, only the FM/FA.
From what I can see his end is right about where mine is, and I don't have any end issues at all.
But, your build is very low on defense. I was looking for some feedback on mine, in another thread. It's got substantially more defense and resistance. You may want to give it a peek. -
The main thing I see is what I don't.
Weave. Did you leave it out on purpose?
Also - depending on whether you ever expect to be the primary tank for your team, and how difficult your settings are, you may want to get some more recharge bonuses.
For blazing aura, consider using the entire oblit set for nice melee defense and 5% global recharge.
Your fire shield is underslotted, I'd say. You could go with two generic resist IOs and franken slot with resist/end from any of the level 50 sets, or you could find a way to use 4 slots of reactive armor.
If it's set bonuses you're after -- what are they?
For healing flames, I'd go with 5 doctored wounds and call it a day. (and use the ones that affect recharge)
As for the rest, I don't have the bonuses memorized, give us a data chunk. -
I have a level 50 fire/fire/fire brute and am thinking about a second build that's higher in defense, specifically for the UGT trial. There are periods when there just aren't enough tanks on the league or, when a tank goes down and the other tanks on the league are not confident in their ability to position the AVs where they should be, or sometimes there are no tanks on the league.
I can afford a beast of a build, and when I read that some folks have over 205% recharge with iTrial soft cap defense, I'm left to wonder if there are any travel powers in the build, or what in the world am I missing?
I looked through the hammi-o's and didn't see anything that jumped out and said -- "use these, it'll save you some slots."
I'm just now thinking I should look through the pvp io's the see if any of them boost defense.
Here is a tentative second build I have. I want taunt, fiery embrace and build up. I could forgo a single target attack, loose some defense for the extra damage that fire ball would give me, but I just don't think it would be worth it for a second build. In my primary build, yeah, I've got it and use it all the time.
Just wondering what you folks think. I know that on iTrials, with all the destinys going off that defense it not really an issue. However, the strength of those buffs fades pretty rapidly. About 7, 8 seconds into my t-4 barrier, my defense drops to about 60%, and then 15 seconds or so after that, it's pretty much faded completely, except for a few percentage points.
Given the rigors of the trial, the toons with taunt are on one side of the AV and the rest of the league is on the other. Some times, we have a great league, and it seems like a level 5 defender could tank the AV if they chose to. Other times, I wonder if those who buff are paying attention.
Here's the tentative build:

Quote:Sorry. Anytime I see a name like Arbiter <name>, I immediately think of someone completely lacking in imagination. I would be hard pressed to think any player came up with Arbiter before CoV was released to Beta.I do not rolling on Freedom hardly at all, yet have this kinda cooll name, up for auction, whats your bid? name is "Arbiter Death"
(though it is possible, of course)
I think Arbiter Cheese Sandwich would be a far better name. Or, even better than that, Toasted Cheese Sandwich. Leave the arbiter off completely.
But that's just me.
You either want the name, or you do not. If you don't, delete the character. If you do, keep it.
Those who try to sell names in game for fake money are not doing anyone any favors in my book. -
1. Did the league get the 60 thread bonus?: Yes
2. Did the bomb badge effort succeed? not attempted
3. Was the Avatar beaten while the seedling was spawned? Yes
4. What AT role were you playing ? kat/invuln scrapper
5. What reward did you get? Rare
6. About how long did the trial last and how often did you go afk for more than a minute or two? lasted about 45 minutes, no afk
7. Defeats:zero
This was probably the smoothest run, ever. There were practically no defeats until the clustered bombs. I don't think there was more than one in the avatar room, if any.
Most of the names were familiar- with some I'd never seen before - but this was a macro-less run, I didn't have to give any direction - just a few reminders here and there. -

I just wanted some insights into why the female heroines are dressed in outfits that I don't think many women would choose to fight in. -
It has been said by other players on my server that I am a comedic genius. Mind you, the people that say this have also been known to crack a joke.

Quote:Howdy. This really hits home with me. I often recruit and lead for various iTrials, but particularly MoM and UGT. I don't dsicriminate based on level shifts or powersets. I take a peak at the league overall and let the league know that I think someone should switch if we're missing a key criteria like a taunter, or a buffer. And because nobody else is mentioning the obvious, this will also happen to people who make a...name for themselves on their server. Not saying you have, but I've seen people ignored without being /ignored. If you have any friends that get onto the trial teams ahead of you, see if they mention anything to you or can get a word to the leader that you are looking to be invited.
On my server, there is a player who also forms leagues, and as a player may be competent, but as a leader is clearly not - giving no direction, accepting no feedback from the league, has no clear understanding of team balance - will let a team of 3 remain as is with two full teams of 8 instead of evening things out, will even go so far as to recruit for one trial, but queue up for another. (mistake? who knows)
I have told this player that I don't trust them with my time. When I form a league for a given trial, I ask the rest of the league before inviting this player if any have a problem with him. Many are ignoring that player and that can impact how well the league communicates. Mind you - they do not ignore this person because the person is mean spirited or a poor player - they ignore this person because they are just annoying. It's not just me.
I credit them for actually trying to form leagues, as on my server, more are inclined to join, than to form. But, I do not credit them with knowing what to do should something unexpected happen - like we get overwhelmed with adds, during a Lambda or BAF, for example. They seem to expect the other players on a trial to already know what to do. But, to not be able to look at a league and notice that there are no buffers on it, I don't think it's a good idea to queue for a MoM at that point. That's a leader that is just plain short-sighted.
So, if you are annoying and have a reputation for being....well...stupid, then yes, it's possible and even likely you're being overlooked in favor of people who don't annoy others.
Mind you, someone who would come to the forums and ask the question the OP asks, is likely not being ignored - but overlooked. There are dozens of tells coming in very close intervals when recruiting. It's very easy to miss someone. I'd say it happens more often than not. It happened to me, once. In fact, that's why I now form iTrials, so that I can make sure I'm on the league. -
Quote:Just speculation here, based on my experience.Hi there! I am talking to some people in the help channel on Exalted about global name changes. They are saying that we get one with every issue. I know that the policy used to be that we only got one, and that was it. I also know that they've given out an extra global name change before, but I thought that that was a one-time exception, and that they haven't done it again or said that they will in the future.
According to a support article, you can only change your global name once. In the help channel, they are insisting that the support article is wrong, though, and that once the next issue is released, we will get another. One person said that they have changed their global name four or five times!
I just want to make sure that if you can't change your global name more than once, other people in the help channel change theirs thinking they can just change it again later. And likewise, if I'm wrong and we will be able to change it again later, I don't want to tell people the wrong thing! Can someone please tell me if they've heard that you can change it more than once, and if so, provide me some sort of link or other citation so that if I'm wrong I won't be telling people the wrong thing?
Thanks! <3
The global name is the name of the first character you create. In my case, that name was Ukase Rex.
After some time went by, I'd deleted that toon, and had made a couple more, leveled them up - and noticed that I'd played one more than the other. I changed it to @Perfidy using the global name change "token".
Eventually, I changed it back to Ukase Rex, and recently, due to the onslaught of Tex Rex, Mex Rex and Flex Rex, and every sort of Rex, I dropped it to plain Ukase.
So, that's 3 global name changes.
I suspect that these name changes they are talking about are character name changes, not global name changes.
Depending on when you started, you should have 3 global changes total.
Just my two inf. -
I've played an ice blaster for a long, long time. But, I've finally figured out the mysteries of mids, and after more than a year of procrastination because I don't like learning curves, I've taken my hero to the redside. A vigilante at present, primarily for badge purposes, but will have to go full villain to get the rest of the badges.
While I'm there - I'd heard about shadow meld - but even more interesting is the idea of getting scorpion shield - as the first power to pick in the pool - as opposed to my blaster that has to use two power picks that very rarely come into my attack chain before I can get frozen armor.
Can someone make any recommendations for or against any patron power. As far as the blue side, I find the cold mastery to be better than the rest because of the heal - although force mastery catches my eye with both Temp Invulnerability and the Personal force field.
Thoughts? I can easily check the numbers - but I thought there might be something the numbers don't clearly reveal - like a not so obvious end drain, for example. -
Scorpion shield? Being able to be chosen first? I call shenanigans! My poor heroes have to spend a power pick on something before I get a shield option. Sumthin' don't seem right 'bout that.

Quote:If you just have someone superspeed through the bombs to detonate thenUG is great if you can spare at least an hour. It requires a league leader who knows what to do at each critical juncture, and a league willing to listen, but if you have that and enough Clarions on hand, it really isn't that hard at all. The vast number of mobs you defeat really bump up your iXP (if you need it) and Thread count. Plus you are guaranteed a Rare or Very Rare drop at the end! And the 60 bonus Threads aren't anything to sneeze at either.
45-50 minutes is good enough. But, yeah, you definitely need either an experienced league or leader to take you through it.
Clarions are nice - but not essential. Three Escapes will last 4.5 minutes - and if the whole league has them is probably enough time to finish the avatar. It would depend on team composition. -
Quote:I think this would be far more useful in the shard tfs than any other place. A team assemble every 2 minutes? Yeah, I like.I think this Destiny power is an incarnate power meant for Incarnate trials. Avoids the Green Stuff? Heck yeah. Floating circles of death assaulting your scrapperhappy leaguemates? Problem solved. League not moving to the right door fast enough in TPN? Situation handled! One crate left on lambda and team spread all over the place? No worries, Incandescence time!
It could also be useful during Apex. -
Boo! I don't know what I want, but it's not costumes.

1. Did the league get the 60 thread bonus?: Yes
2. Did the bomb badge effort succeed? Yes.
3. Was the Avatar beaten while the seedling was spawned? NoDes was too mean!
4. What AT role were you playing ?: ill/rad controller
5. What reward did you get? Rare
6. About how long did the trial last and how often did you go afk for more than a minute or two? lasted about an hour and a half.
7. Defeats: 2 One earlier in the trial, one during avatar fight. Super! wakie ftw!
Note: A lot of afkers during various parts. Not lengthy, but notable. Had several first timers, so I went a little slower. -
Quote:I wouldn't mind the gun -- but what I really want is a gun holster. I cannot fathom why we don't have the option in the tailor. I would have thought that would be the first thing any dual pistols toon would want. What I *would* like to have is the gun recipe for my DP blaster, Rose. So, I'd be up for joining them with her just to try for that. Even if I end up buying her the recipe from the Oro vendor, she'll still have to have finished a successful trial to use it.
(aside from less spastic animations)
But, I'd only heard a rumor/whisper about some gun being accessed via tpn success. I'll have to take my main to the tailor and see what's what. -

@Heavenly Perverse, from Liberty server, while playing Run Faster, a stalker, has confirmed that the Demolition Bomb timer does not start until it is attacked - provided the stalker is hidden.
So, if any of you have an abundance of stalkers on your league, sending 5 or 6 of them to do the bombs might be another strategy. -
My sole villain has repented and became a full hero. However, my main is now at that point where he can go villain - should I choose to expose him to that horrid redside.
Either way, you may count on any of my toons for whatever assistance you may need on the blue side.
I already have the badges on the toons that I am concerned about, so willing to bow out if others who don't want to join in.
This just in - Ukase Rex will be vigilante in time for this, and presumably able to assist redside. -
Well, I gotta say, I think the league did pretty good, all things considered.
I have no idea where Desdemona went. She was engaged in battle with the Avatar at one point, because when the seedling spawned, I targeted her and ran to her.
I think we had gotten her down to about 55% when she bugged out, because that's when we had all the team wipes start to happen to the extreme.
When that seedling spawns and you can't get near Des, well, there's not much you can do.
I found myself upset because I find out at the last room that a couple of people had never done the trial before. I'd asked when we formed up and nobody said a word. I think I'm gonna start putting a password in this post here, and the only people I invite will be the ones with the password.
But then, I'd only get 5 or 6 people.
Well, thanks for coming out, those of you who actually know how to read. -
I've noticed that there is an issue with Desdemona. Tonight, her status pane was full - full health. I tried to target her, I could not. I was leading her initially, and accidentally outran her. I slowed down, went back, but someone else had picked her up.
The one who picked her up got defeated very early in the fight against the avatar - and then, I noticed she wasn't fighting the avatar, but a bunch of adds. One less thing for the tank to worry about. I had my PA help her out, gave her a shot of t4 clarion and AM. And proceeded to begin debuffing the avatar. When the seedling spawn message flashed across my screen, I targeted her, and went to her. So far, no worries. Confusion protection is still kind of high. The league overall is in good shape. Then another seedling comes, and Des is nowhere to be found. I don't know what happened to her, but I'm really having a hard time getting players that are +3 to run this with me because of Des being so unpredictable.
This is really a great trial except for Desdemona being so glitchy!
I did send a petition when we had about 12 minutes left, but never heard back from support, and I doubt they would auto-complete anyway, but they could have at least poked around and found her.
Well, there's my technical issue/bug for the day.
