  1. Earlier in the day, after lunch, but before the hami raid, I expect to do a Citadel, Manticore and a Numina. Well, maybe 2 out of 3.

I hope to start at 2pm Eastern and finish at least two of them, hopefull all 3 by 5pm Eastern.

    I am bringing the brute.

I don't know if I've mentioned this on the forums before. Perhaps it's time I did so.

In May of 2010, I came back to this game after an extended absence. I believe issue 6 was the last time I'd played, or had time paid up.

When I returned, there were a few people who were overly gracious in their welcome.

These people, in no particular order, were : @Heavenly Perverse, @It's Me Matt and @HazyGreys (one of his many alts)

Perhaps it's the association with me that lends itself to conflict. At present, as far as I know, each of the three names mentioned has the other two on /gignore.

So, will there now be 4 people with each of the three on global ignore? Or will it be more?

It may not count for much, but I owe a great deal of what I know to @High Voltz
Yes, I agree, he's always in too much of a hurry. I also agree that in "lolpvp" play, he can be ...troublesome. But, he can also be an excellent ally. How does that saying go? If you can't beat them, join them?

Rath, I know if it happened to me, I'd probably be mad enough to sweat blood. Sadly, I haven't yet invested the time in PvP because there are no gains, no real motivation to do it, other than to satisfy a momentary lapse of reason from time to time.

I will be honest - if I were in a pvp zone, looking for an exploration badge, or doing one of those patrol missions, if I saw a couple of "bots", I would look around, and then attack the one that was doing the attacking. If I didn't have any problems with that attack, I would probably send a tell to the other toon/bot. With no response, and the other toon just standing there, I'd probably leave. But, if I came back and it was still there, I'd probably kill it. If I couldn't get to the bots, I'd have tried to target one, and see the global name. Then, I might have left you alone. But that's me.

For people who PvP, they want to PvP. Perhaps creating the grudge will help that to happen. I've no idea.

One thing I am sure of, I sincerely doubt that it was personal.

I understand the anger, I'd be angry too. But, maybe we can just let this go. Honestly, I think you'd like HV and HP if you teamed with them. They're pretty silly and low key, at least in PvE.
  4. Voltz, that's kind of you to say. Thank you.

    E Ion, Thank you, too. I lol'd.

Rath, I thank you for the kind words. But, by most accounts, I have been heard to express the opinion of that I was only slightly better than a mediocre blaster.

    SS/FA vs Fire/FA

If they get bonuses to-hit, a tankers edge is very noticeable. In 'live' maps, your point stands.

Also, have the Dev's tweaked MARTy? (frowns at results on screen)
I don't think MARTy comes out unless there's some seriously extreme circumstances. A tier 4 judgement is about as much damage as any of us can expect to dish out - if that doesn't bring MARTy out, what would?

    SS/FA vs Fire/FA

Thanks to all of you who took the time to give me your insight.

Descend -- Obviously, you meant level 32 for footstomp, but we won't hold that against you.

Mauk2 -I think, in the context of farming, the fire/fire brute is more survivable than the fire/fire tank. Both have the same fire resistance, but the brute deals out more damage. As for SS vs Fire, your pointing out the stun,kd, hold - that is an aspect I hadn't taken into account.

Aneurysmo - Obviously, I could PL my toon, but since I've never used Superstrength powerset before, that would make me a pretty inept player, not knowing if I need to slot more for end recovery or accuracy. Besides, even if I got my toon level bumped, I still need to get my toon the accolades. Even a speed synapse tf is gonna take 40 minutes. The formation of the tfs takes time, in forming of iTrials on my server takes almost as much as the trial itself except on weekend evenings. One thing I don't need to do is powerlevel. If I miss all the agony of leveling up, I could easily forget to choose one power sooner over another.

Black-Assassin - Purple Farming? Any content level 47 and up run at */8 is purple farming, correct? My fire/fire performs as you describe, only I run at +4/8 because I want more inf, prestige and the little extra I get for the resell of level 53 enhancements.

Here is a tentative build, just in case any glaring errors pop out. With the new ATOs, this will probably get the Armegeddons removed from footstomp in favor of the brute ATO set. (and they will have the catalyst used on them)

  8. Below is the build that I have, and I find it quite acceptable.

Unlike our OP, I find Fault to be...well, not worth much. Typically, I jump in a mob, hit FE and Burn, Tremor, target a Boss or LT and hit Build up and Seismic Smash. Repeat as necessary. This could farm, but there are other toons better suited for it.

There are other builds also suggested, and I certainly won't say mine is better, just different. The more builds we all see, the more we can see different ways of doing things, and it only makes us better from there.

    SS/FA vs Fire/FA

Either I misrepresented the question or you misunderstood.

    I do have a fire/fire tank -true.

    But, I also have a fire/fire/energy brute.
My SS/FA is now level 30. Just wondering if it was that much better than the brute.

Given the nerf to AE tickets lately, probably not.
  10. I suspect she is wisely using Red Widow as a guinea pig. And just because Red Widow is "alive" now - who knows what side effects will be in play come next issue?
  11. The solution to the OPs problem is to simply take some purples. Chomp a few, stealth to the glowie, mash a purple or two and click.
  12. Ukaserex

    SS/FA vs Fire/FA

I am aware that for farming and powerleveling and such that because of rage, the SS/FA Brute is considered to be better than Fire/Fire.

What I am not aware of is how much better. I currently have an incarnated Fire/Fire/Energy Brute.

What I am curious about - looking at no other criteria besides time - would it really be worth it to make an SS/FA Brute if I'm only "farming" a council mission 10 times a week and doing AE for max tickets about once a week. (9999, not 1500 per map)

My toons are not "just" farmers though. My brute has taunt, and has all the accolades that impact endurance and health.

So, compared to say....50 hours to level a brute up to 50, and possibly, depending on the rng another 20-30 hours of trialing to get the t4 in lore, judgement, interface and 2 Destiny powers.

If I'm not distracted by tells, I don't think it takes my brute much more than 15-20 minutes to get through the council map at +4/8. (the one with the drums in the background.)

Is SS/FA so much faster that instead of 15 minutes, I'd get through in 5? 10? Or would it be more like 12?

Is there a statistically valid way to compare these 2 different primaries?

I know a lot depends on the attack chain and recharge rate. The SS seems to have superior ST damage, but it also seems to have superior endurance usage.

If I'm playing this game for long enough to grind out this farm for another 1000 runs - is using SS/FA over Fire/Fire going to save me 150 hours? (accolades, incarnate grind, tf's, etc.)
In short, given a "Standard" attack chain for a softcapped to s/l defense SS/FA brute, is it going to get through that map 9 minutes faster than the F/F brute I have now?

I ask this because the SS/FA I have now is level 24, and so far, I'm not impressed. I am going to play it until level 35, just to see how it does with burn, tough and weave, and maneuvers, but if anyone has played both and has some insight, I'd like to hear it.

I was pretty much thinking the same thing. Nova form for PB or WS comes with an inherent damage boost from the start. 40 or 45%, I forget which.

It is squishy, and has no mez protection, other than what's afforded by teammates, or perhaps a clarion buff before shape change. But, hey, it's a lot of fun!
  14. I wish I had seen this thread earlier.

    Silent Spy:
I like most of what I see - but I am puzzled about not having Aim. I kind of like shiver myself, but, with snowstorm, it could be overkill.

I also see two travel powers. This to me doesn't make a whole lot of sense, but that's just me.

On the ice patch, I don't think your endurance is gonna be that bad - maybe a recharge in there instead of the end reduction.

Hibernate, in my mind is just a dog power. If you plan on staying awhile, you'll end up with Return to battle (vet temp)which rezzes you like a level rez, only half health. But with all the inspirations it gives you, plus you're untouchable for a brief time, in my mind, that's better than hibernate. With all the control at your fingertips, you won't be getting into that much trouble, I don't think.

Eji: I agree with some of your advice. Get Aim!
Icy_Shard: You are headed for .......the wrong place, in my opinion.

Get a stealth proc, and lose the concealment power pool stealth. With the slots you save, and the power you save, you can get maneuvers which won't slow your movement down and provide the same option for lotg.

I think heal other and aid self are kind of ....well, more reactive than proactive. Get tough and weave, and you won't have to be healing yourself nearly as much as you might think.
  15. For those looking for updates, our very own QP, responsible for countless tragedies on teams he never played on, has stepped up to lead the raid in Tax E's absence. Please come to the hive.
  16. I am concerned, though. Not about griefers, but about subscribers. There just doesn't seem to be that many. I know a lot more vips that let their sub lapse because the rewards program gives them everything but incarnate stuff (long term vets)

And it's the incarnate stuff that I want to do. I even transferred a couple of my toons to more populated servers - but I found that those servers weren't as populated as I thought! It still took over 15 minutes to get a league of 10 together just to do a Lambda.

Personally, I don't mind the f2p. But as far as I'm concerned the level 14 restriction - they should have kept that for f2p. Let premium cap at 25 or 35. There needs to be more of a carrot to lure old vips and new freebies and premiums into subscribing.

Times are tough, as we all know. But the game should not be as free as it is.
I sure would like to know how many new subscriptions have started since f2p. That would really give us an indication of whether the model is working. (and what's the % of sales compared to subs)

But yeah, when I was lvl'ing up my PB I xfered it to Free"dumb" since the PB was lvl 45ish and just wanted to get it to 50 so that I could never played it again (wanted 1 lvl 50 of each AT but HATE the PB).

Yeah I don't really care for stereotypes but...yeesh...there were some "dunderheads" for sure. I did get a full 8 man team in like 5 minutes though...so...that was nice And this was a good 1-2 years ago now.

Got to 50 w/the PB and have never touched Freedom since.

I really enjoy Liberty since I "know" everyone here and it's been my home for the past 8 years. It is sad to see people go to other, more populated, servers but I can understand it.

For me I am a little burnt out on CoH but also in the whole, "waiting for the next issue to go live so there's something new to do" feeling going on as well.

My schedule is so erratic and trying to "mature" and do the things I need to do and thinking about going back to school to get my BS degree (ugh...)...or what the "next steps" are for me...just...yeah....*shrugs*

    <3
Wish I could do just that, Ion. As for your BS degree, if things go south on your current job, yeah, do that. For the time being, you bust your butt and do the best you can to keep your job. I have more friends that are out of work than working.

I'm not leaving the server - just spending some time on the other one when I can't get a trial here.
  18. I just had a chat with @Noyjitat in game, I'll be leading the raid tonight in his absence.

I planned on attending the raid anyway, so it's not a sacrifice of any sort.
  19. I really can't blame you for checking out another server.

Liberty has some truly wonderful people, some brilliant people and a couple that I would prefer never to see/read again.

A few are wonderful and brilliant.

But, for whatever the reason, no more than 6 people seem to want to do a trial in the evenings during the week. It is possible that the 12 minutes of spring fling interfered with iTrials, I dunno. But, not to worry, I too, transferred one toon to Freedom - which revealed HP to be crazy accurate. I was on a BAF and it almost failed, by taking too much time.

Infinity however was both marvelous and...puzzling. No dunderheads that I could see, but all they run is baf and lam.
No MoM, No Keyes, (while I was on anyway) No TPN.

There was one UGT that got ran while I was there. Nobody even checked for clarion, and the league composition had more unshifted than anything else. Needless to say, it failed at the first AV, mercifully.

I think, though, that I may run one or two - or help them - before our MSR. But, I dunno. They don't have that many people there, either.

On Liberty, I can at least recognize who the dunderheads are and avoid them.

I do know one thing - a lot of you need to quit your jobs or something. Not nearly enough vet players on - and nobody seems to want to do the same thing at the same time.

As for me, I am not wasted.
  20. Try this command:

    /accountcertificationclaim alt_ltlbsamu

I was missing my Nemesis Staff on an older account. Used that command and the option to choose it, or ghost slaying axe presented itself.
  21. I'm expecting to start around 10 am Central - maybe a bit earlier. What we do will depend largely on the levels of all that show up. I want to avoid hero tips, at least for a while. I'm hoping to get entrenched in a nice story arc that potentially, all could select the same contact and simultaneously complete so all can get the merits.

    Maybe a radio or two.

Just have to see who all is around. I hope to pick up a couple of free to play folks - and hopefully show them what good team play is.

And if I ever figure it out myself, all the better!

I expect to break around noon, then resume a half hour to an hour later. They key will be to play things low-key. No demands or expectations.
Except I want to see at least a "heh" after one of my lame jokes.
  22. Well, there is one mission, where you can get a feel for being truly incarnate. And that is the first one that Mender Remiel sends you on. If you check your combat attributes, you're at cap for most every category.

I just got my def Rad/Sonice alpha unlocked the other day, up to tier 3 today. Started doing a few BAFs in a row, enough to get the other side up to tier 2, Im trying to hit a rare/very rare to start working to get to tier 4, but all I am getting is commons. I got an uncommon once. There's probably a cooldown timer in regards to good incarnate drops or something. Or did I just gimp myself by actually playing a defender in the first place?
No. On BAF and LAM trials, there is indeed a participation metric. However, how it works exactly is unknown to us. Suffice it to say that there is a test first.

Did player meet the participation requirement?
If yes, RNG standard reward roll for common, uncommon, rare, very rare.

    If No, give 10 threads.

Just so you know, my emp/elec defender has 5 very rares - but can't use any of them because he has no rares to get the t3s. In fact, he's never gotten a rare. Plenty of uncommons, though. Enough to make a couple of rares so I can get my level shifts.

Keep at it, sooner or later, you'll get some RNG love.
  24. I am thinking that what's most important is that the leader pick a time when it's convenient for him. I would choose either an hour before the MSR or an hour after, because that's when your population is probably at its highest. (Personally, I'd like it to be before, that way I could do the UGT here, then switch off for the ugt on my other server. )

That's not to say that the UGT can always be done in less than an hour. Your first few runs will take a bit longer because of all the information that needs to be presented, questions asked and answered. Once most players know what's to be expected, about 55 minutes, an hour is all it should take. League size will impact spawn size, so that can also be a factor, as well as the number of level shifted players. I urge you to read about the purple patch if you are not familiar with it.

Not everyone has to be level shifted. But because it's a trial, many challenges in the trial are timed. The longer it takes to beat down an AV, the longer the success of the trial is at risk. Mind you, the player behind the keyboard is a larger factor than the toon's level shift. An unshifted 50 that can follow directions in league chat is far better than a +3 novice who plays with the chat screen down, relying on friends on Vent or Skype to give direction.

Mind you, the process of forming the league will take some time because of all the switching and zoning that normally takes place.

Whoever's leading, pick a time. Be sure to check your server calendar so you're not conflicting with anyone else's events, etc.
