She pondered for a moment.
"He died during the Rikti invasions. He was a bit more like dad though. Black stripes and the more distinct face. Dad said one of his lovers was looking for a way to get him back but it's been so long I don't hold any hope she'll succeed"
She turned away as if going to cry but looked back to Alicia.
"You woulda loved him I think. Just like dad in many ways." -
Silvia pondered the statement, looking like she disagreed with its sentiment.
"Given the lengths you went through to find me; I wouldn't say you were a bad mother. Maybe a bad person for all the people who've suffered because of your actions... but that's not for me to judge."
She stroked through her tail-fur and sighed.
"I suppose, in a way, that you've never actually been a mother to me. I never had any concious memory of you. Up until after I met my father; I didn't even know who you were. I knew Antonio was my brother but that was about it. I do still want to get to know you, the person behind all the vilification.... it's just difficult to accept right now..."
Dak crunched his way through the crust of his sandwich, breaking the mood of the moment. Silvia looked up at him with a light glare as he pushed the rest in his mouth and swallowed it. -
Quote:She waved a hand, inviting her to sit down just as Dak returned with a glass of water setting his warm lunch aside as he handed the glass to Alicia. He returned to his lunch, sitting on the edge of the same sofa as Silvia, happily munching at his sandwich. She fiddled with the brush at the end of her tail, pondering what questions she wanted answered and which she'd rather not."Mind if I sit down? I'd like to stay a while and answer anything you want to ask."
"If you' been here just a couple of years ago; I wouldn't have even hesitated at asking you everything. I found a lot about where I'd been for my early years and why we were taken from you so soon after being born. I wanted to know all about who you were... and then I found out. A lot of things I wish I hadn't.... dad never spoke ill of you, even though he knew... I wish I could understand like him. I don't need to know why but... why now? What changed so much that you wanted to see me now?" -
Quote:He smiled back, either oblivous or knowing something she didn't."But before you go to get it, mind if I ask how old you are? I mean, I'm hardly twenty-nine and Silvia's father and I were, quite regrettably, together when I was fourteen... My daughter's only fifteen, you know that right?"
"No offence meant of course, I'm just asking," she added, with a forced smile to try and lighten the mood.
"I'm twenty-three. And your daughter is..."
Dak looked to Silvia who's expression said enough to him.
"... Well, I'll let her explain while I get your drink."
He made a hasty exit towards the kitchen while Silvia shuffled in her seat.
"I'm twenty-five now, mom. I've had a few adventures of my own. One of which involved a jaunt to an alternate future. They spent ten years trying to get me back and they succeeded... in a way. I got back just after I left but with all that time still elapsed. So while I'm technically fifteen from my birthday; I'm twenty-five altogether." -
Dak looked her over, obviously playing passive umpire to the two.
"No, I'm Silvia's boyfriend. My name's Dak. Come, please, sit. You.. er, thirsty?"
He seeme a little nervous, partly because of the animosity, the other meeting the mother of his girl. He watched as Silvia strolled over and lay on the big couch opposite Alicia, her tail swishing up and then falling over her lap. She brushed her hair back again as she looked her mother over. All she could think was that she wasn't quite how dad described her. -
Quote:Dak tried to contain himself, covering his mouth as he snorted, trying desperately to hold back but failing and letting a loud 'hah' followed by a short laugh.Something turned deep inside Alicia's bowels and she soon realised it was a mixture of fear, guilt and anxiety, masked by a sense of pride, pride in the two beautiful people stood before her. "Antonio... Silvia" she stammered. "I don't know how to say this but, I'm Alicia Barzini... I'm your biological mother."
Alicia suddenly felt vulnerable, her deepest secret now spoken out loud. She clung on to the sense of relief and sighed heavily. "I'm so sorry. I neglected you, I know that now, but... Oh, what you must think of me..." she trailed, choking on her emotions. "Can I... can I come in?"
"Listen, miss. I don't know who put you up to this but my mom's still living with my dad in Texas and as for Silvia; her mom died years ago..."
Dak looked at Silvia and his smile fell. Her hands were on fire, her face was blank, thoughts of her experience in an alternate present flooded over her. She knew her face, she knew her voice, she'd wanted to meet her for so long but her judgement was blinded by all the horrible things she knew her mother had done. She growled a deep growl, Dak moved between them just as Silvia launched herself at her mother, throwing the aim of her fire ball off as he pushed her back. He pushed her back down as she tried to literally fly past him.
"Easy, it was just a dream, remember?"
She took solace in his words for a moment before focusing on what she knew Alicia had done in this life.
"Why should I let her in though? After all this time..?"
Dak looked over the man in the suit, closing his eyes before turning back to her.
"Because the man with her is a member of the PPD and he's escorting her to see you while she's on parole"
She looked at Dak, her smile returning as his eyes opened. She loved it when he 'read' people like that. Her smile faded as she looked at her mother. She sighed, restraining herself this time.
"Would you like to come in?" -
Quote:Silvia popped her head up out of the box she was looking through, stroking her long red hair off her face and back over her head. Her boyfriend Dak had a lot of what to her eyes was just junk and despite owning a bigger place now; she was insisting he get rid of some of it. She heard the knock at the door, even up in the attic and called down:Later that day, in the California surburbs of Costa Mesa...
The motocade of black suburban vehicles rolled up at the home of an up and coming singing artist. Alicia was escorted out of her seat and up the walkway. A police officer in a smart black suit and dark sunglasses raised his hands and rasped his knuckles against the wooden door. Patiently, they waited.
"Dak? Can you get the door?"
Downstairs Dak was making lunch, a tuna-cheese combination that he'd just about toasted. Upon hearing her words he headed to the front door, making sure to check through the peep-hole. His eyes widened as he caught sight of the uniformed man then the woman...
"Silvia! You might wanna get down here!"
Dak opened the door just as Silvia floated down behind him, strolling up to see who he'd called her for. -

Add me to the list. My main had his third costume's powers coloured pure white and they are now back to the default/legacy colours.
I first noticed it on my DP/EM blaster when I decided to use her energy melee attack and it came up the default colour.
EDIT - to add; this was on Vista while my main was on the Mac client -
Quote:Kendra's smiles grew wide. She started laughing, harder and louder, strolling away, the sounds of her joy echoing through the empty cell block."Kendra, when I leave this hell hole on Wednesday" Pistol began, "I will find the rest of your scumbag friends and I will kill them. Why? Because you're f**king annoying. Now get the hell away from my cell before my kill list expands."
"Death is only the beginning" -
Kendra smiled as if looking down on her fellow inmate, her pulse quite steady. She had always been sensitive to demonic presense and she could feel the demon inside Alicia watching her. She rubbed her neck as if to tease it, returning to folded arms as she spoke again.
"I don't suppose you would recognise me. You never did look beneath you when you steam-rolled through this city with all those devoted followers. My name is Kendra. I tried to rob Talos Island bank when you decided to rob it as well. Most of my friends died that day and the rest of us ended up in the Zig here. Never though I'd see you end up in this place and looking so pathetic as well. Bonus!"
Her smile widened as she basked in the moment. -
Quote:Kendra wandered, in the now-quiet cell-block, towards Alicia's cell. She knew of Alicia's reputation and how most of her inmates cowered or capitulated with her but she didn't care. Often called fearless after her first day in the Zig saw her tackling a viscious psychopath one-on-one; it was more she had seen more horrors in her lifetime that simple things didn't seem to bother her. She reached Alicia's cell and crossed her arms, still smiling as she saw the wretch of life in front of her.Suddenly, Alicia heard a noise from down the corridors. But she was supposed to be alone, all other inmates had been counted and moved downstairs for breakfast. So, she wondered, who could be so audacious to wander around near her cell at this time of morning.
"Oh, how the mighty have fallen!" -
Quote:I've just spent the last two days doing this by myself in warburg. Thanks to some help at the end I just nabbed it three hours ago.Just got it today. Took me 2 days of mind-numbing frusteration to get it. I just hope they don't nerf it so you only need 200 rep now, or I might need serious counseling.

Javelin's Volley Acc/dam/rech/end/kitchensink, level 50 went for between 75 and 120 mill so I set it to 100 mill and left it up for now. -
Quote:A certain RP-r on Union telling an early teen character who was planning on doing some baking: "Good (luck) with those cookies".All you folks talking about massive bizarre erp/cluster F bomb/gibberish mistells without saying what they actually were should at least give us the highlights.
They mis-typed 'luck'....
Not quite in the same category but I was complaining about someone's poor grammer last night and typed "they should be able to proff-read their own work". Quite ironic but in my defense I was dual-boxing while under fire from some Council. -
They're due for the Live game in April and since DP testing took approx. one month (not counting friends & family testing) so it's a reasonable guess that they are on test now for the closed beta.
-
Quote:DP patch since it's going live today for pre-purchasers....I can't log on today and there's no information about it or the patch I just downloaded. Did that I17 so called "closed-beta" crash the hampster farm?
Agree with all other points about marketing needing a kick-start. The battery died a long time ago. -
Quote:To add to this; I wasn't affected till toay when my Mac client decided to throw up an error message an I couldn't launch it. Thanks to someone translating a French solution; my Mac client is now working again.Given that this has a very wide-reaching effect across a number of different platforms and different Operating Systems, it smacks of incredibly poor quality testing by NC. Their official input says only one OS is affected and it has affected many users on all the platforms they offer their game on.
It's not the fault of the users and NC have been very lax at best, and incompetent at worst. -
My main villain badger got hers last week. The Duelist badge to complete her Gladiator accolade.
And in a rather poetic day-job ending for my main hero badger; he just got City Official tonight in Freedom Court where he started out 5 years ago. -

Quote:Not really confused myself since EU've been down this road before. Most of were hoping then that it was because there was another box later in the year or that GR was closer than we thought.Sorry, but that is really, really...Stupid.
Why not allow the complete edition for pre-order?
And why in seven hells is Europe getting the shaft AGAIN when it comes to retail? It sucked when it came to Architect edition, and it sucks again now! What the heck, man? Not amused. Not amused at all.
I like having physical copies of the game and the last time I had to reload the client it was quicker to just copy over from my old PC with one of my large flash drives which I try to keep updated. And given that GR is an EXPANSION like WoW's Wrath of the Lich King; why the hell aren't we getting a new box over here? It's been said before that a box on the shelves is a presense and I've seen almost every WoW expansion take pride of place on the PC chart each time they're released. And since the Architect Edition there's also been:
William Shatner,
Ozzy Osbourne,
Verne Troyer,
Mr T. &
Mohawk Grenade.
Last advert City(EU) had was an advert in PC Gamer.
And as for the choice between pre-purchase and collector's edition; I'll be pre-purchasing (maybe) one AND ONLY ONE but I will be recommending that unless you're definitely going to play for the next 3-4 months; you might as well wait for the full edition later. Shame really as I have four accounts in total so that could've been four pre-purchases worth.
That recommendation again:Quote:Unless you're GOING to play for the next 3-4 months; it's better to wait till July -
Quote:How much will that translate to in £s and €s? For those of us who live outside the US.Well, you have the opportunity to get access to the Dual Pistols and Demon Summoning power sets in March and April, if you pre purchase City of Heroes Going Rogue (MSRP $29.99 USD)! You will also be able to get your hands on an exclusive item pack if you get the City of Heroes Going Rogue: Complete Collection (MSRP $39.99 USD), that will be available when Going Rogue releases in July!

Yep, another 60-monther here. Also been playing since the EU beta but missed pre-launch by two days due to the company I bought it from mailing it out too late.
If we're counting cumulative achievements; I've done most of the stuff in-game across all my accounts. Hero Hami before and after, villain Hami US-side, Mothership raids, SSTFs (aside from the 2nd) and still collecting badges on my main badger.
My main badger is also my first toon live. He's still here after five years and currently the leader of the group he's in. He's also only a week or two away from his last day job. Last count he was at 639 badges and still climbing. -
Quote:MRP - Mature Role Play, usually dealing with adult-sensitive things like torture, blood letting... think 17+ on the movie ratingsWhat are all these acronyms? I don't know em', but keep it Teen rated. That is how this game is rated and governed.
ERP - Erotic Role Play, dealing with sexual interactions of varying degrees. -
Quote:Currently unknown in answer to all of these but certainly questions I will be asking during the beta. So, as I'm making plans for which of my characters I want to be rogue, vigiliante, hero, and villain, I find myself running into little issues where information is not terribly clear.
Firstus, Will supergroups be expanded so that members that go around the alignment curve remain in the super group?
For example, my chaotic good-type archery blaster fits very well into the 'Vigilante' picture painted by various Paragon Sources. Will she be able to stay in her supergroup?
Her sister, My fire-fire scrapper, was originally a fire/thermal corruptor before I hard-rerolled her. She's very much the "Rogue" type and is only in the United States in order to pull off part of what she imagines to be a grande scheme. However, to get her back around to the 'Rogue' status, which fits her so well, I have to have to have her fall and become vigilante, become villainous, and then become rogue.
During that cycle, will she be severed from her existing heroic supergroup? If she wins salvage, rewards, and prestige, will those spoils be available to her heroic fellows?
Secondus, what's going to happen to the rules about bases being faction only? If you try to hit a base during a coop taskforce, you get booted from the TF.
Lastly, and probably what most people will consider most importantly, we know that trading inspirations between heroes and villains are coming soon.Does this imply that other kinds of intra-base trading is in the works, such as a villain dropping off enhancements in a base and then having a hero agent sell them for him at wentworths?
I would hope that bases would simply become neutral since it's not possible for heroes to enter villain zones an vice-versa and the only condition will be what your alignment is for use of telepads. We shall see.
