Sometimes you have good runs, sometimes you have bad runs. Sometimes it's someone's fault, sometimes it's not.

    But.. it's NOT the server.
I don't think I ever said that Protector doesn't have good, outstanding, great, awesome, phenomenal, etc. players. I realize that the server itself being an objective entity of machinery and technology has no impact on the success rate of content run on it. The thing is though, that Protector is a small server, so by comparison only a small amount of people will be running certain content. Yes, a lot of those people are very capable players, but there are also many on the server who participate in said content that are not.

The difference between Protector and a larger server is that A.) You don't need to wait for a certain group of people to be available to run said content, and B.) A larger community will by default have more people running content, which will lead to more people knowing what they are doing, people pooling knowledge to figure things out more quickly, and more opportunities for that knowledge to be spread to others.

Don't get me wrong, I love Protector. Most of my good friends play here, most of my characters are here, and just about everyone is very pleasant and fun to play with. None of that has any bearing on my previous statements though, and vice versa.

They take a major amount of planning, timing, and work. Which is also why they feel really rewarding to play.

But this is all just my opinion, of course.

If you are using Dwarf form (even if it's just for set holders or the mire), you're a bi-form Warshade--not a Human-only.

    Human Only = Human only
    Bi-Form = Human + Dwarf or Human + Nova
Tri-Form = All three forms chosen

With that said, I don't think I'll be able to (with a "clean conscience," so to speak) include builds for bi-forms in a guide that's meant specifically for "human only" builds.

However, I highly value input from THB when it comes to WS's, and have consulted with him about updating this guide prior to creating this thread.

    Thanks again for your input!

    "Alien"
This was a conversation that was had recently on this board and I still fail to see the difference between slotting Dwarf for set mules only and slotting something like Boxing or a human form resist toggle you'll never use for set mules. Now, I can understand simply having a problem with set muling in general I suppose, but in my opinion "Bi Form" and "Tri Form" are play styles, not slotting choices. I wouldn't call a Blaster build who played strictly from range that slotted their melee attacks for set mules a Blapper, because a Blapper, similarly, is a play style. I consider my Warshade to be human form because he always plays in human form.
  4. Eh I think we should do winter stuff.
  5. Alright, sorry I offended you guys. Maybe I have just been incredibly unlucky with my experiences on Protector when it comes to new Incarnate trials.

I remember when Keyes and Underground both came out. The first thing I did was attempt them both on Protector because that's where my main is. Both failed for days, every single run I saw and was on. I also played both the day they came out on Virtue, and have yet to fail either trial there.

I noticed the same thing with TPN and MoM, at least within the first few days. I go to play them on Proector, and they failed every single time I tried. Once again... Virtue? Picked up almost all the badges (have yet to get one from each trial) by accident in PUG's. I have never failed a MoM on Virtue, and I failed one TPN.

Last weekend when I went to organize that MoM on Protector, people in Protector Vigilance were saying things to the effect of, "There's no way to get badges! We can't even complete the trial!"

I know there are lots of good players here, but I also know that there are lots of horrible players here. The trouble is that it's such a small server that if the majority of one group of people aren't on, you're forced to pick from the other group.

They're definitely tricky, but that just makes it feel even more rewarding when you get them.

And no, I don't mean things like "toggle suppression" or "knockdown." I mean regular powers like melt armor, mez protection toggle, slow auras, ect..

-Thanks for any info you guys can provide!

You can feel free to test it in game but I can tell you that I slot my Eclipse with a level 53 Nucleo, a level 50 nucleo, and 2 recharge IO's and it brings me from 0-85% resistance with 5 targets.

It functions the same as other Hami-o multiple types slottings.

    Quote:
    Multiple Types Exploit

Buff enhancements work the same as debuff enhancements of the same type. The calculation the game uses is Scale * Strength, where Scale is positive for powers that Buff and negative for powers that Debuff, and Strength is increased by enhancements. For example, the game sees Tactics as applying a 1 scale ToHit change, and Radiation Infection as applying a -2.5 scale ToHit change. Both ToHit Buff and ToHit Debuff enhancements boost the ToHit aspect of those powers; the two powers are simply coded in the database to only permit one or the other to be slotted.
Since Hamidon Origin Enhancements have multiple types, it is possible to place a buff or debuff enhancement into a power in which it is not permitted, so long as one of the other enhancement types is allowed. For example, Fallout, which does not allow Defense Buff or ToHit Buff enhancements, can accept Membrane Exposure, which will provide ToHit Buff, Defense Buff, and Recharge enhancement. The "Detailed Info" display will confirm Fallout's defense and tohit debuffs are enhanced.
This bug can also be used to enhance Defense Buff in certain powers by 33.33% instead of 20% by using a Enhance Defense Debuff HO, and enhance Damage Resistance in certain powers by 33.33% instead of 20% by using an Enhance Damage HO.
Enhancements listed in the same row of the below table are equivalent, and differ only by which powers the enhancement is permitted in.

Ah, the Microsignal never got its chance to shine. Perhaps if we use it regularly enough he will return and optimize all of our attack chains for us as a Christmas present.

    And.

One of my newer characters is Mender Micron, a level 38 Bots/Time Mastermind. He is a little blue man who came from the future to teach humans the art of superior robot crafting. He has no affiliation with Ouroboros, he just mends the bots.

But that's just me being skeptical that they'd come out and tell us who was going to die when they've gone through the trouble of building suspense for it.

Edit: But then again, maybe I'm giving them too much credit?

Yeah, unless Who Will Die is a Nemesis plot I don't think something like that will happen. They're also doing their whole 'Salute to Statesman' loyalty program thing, I don't think they'd go through the trouble of announcing a death and then going "lol sike!" afterwards- Leaving the villainy to the villains, and all that.
  12. I haven't noticed a change in the going rates for items I flip, but I focus on pretty high demand things... As for the price of cheaper purples, I got an immob drop on a trial the other day and it sold for a small amount very quickly. I'm not sure how expensive they were before because I never bothered with them, but I'd say it sold for about what I would expect it to without considering converters.
  13. For the part of your post that Stone quoted: The phrasing implied that melee characters (and Kheldians?) weren't good at single target damage. Stone wasn't insinuating that only melee characters are good at ST damage.

Edit- By the way, your concept seems strikingly applicable to a potential Warshade back story, maybe with some additional elaboration. Just putting that out there.

    Re: Twisted Logic.

  15. So, I'm assuming this means that Gloom is worth taking with Titan Weapons? I haven't been following up on the discussions about the set lately, but assumed that the loss of momentum plus redraw would make it a bad choice for DPS.
  16. The obvious answer to me is Mastermind, but that would involve paying the unlock fee on a free account.

Well I don't think simplifying matters and asking everyone to go to the choke points is 'following suit' in terms of stupidity, but I do think that it's a good way to minimize the risk of said stupidity occurring in the first place with a proven effective strategy.
  18. Meh, I think it's probably for the best. You're still free to use converters the same way you planned to originally, you just need to earn them by playing the game now. *gasp*

Even if all this is true, which it very well could be, you are overestimating the intelligence of the average trial-goer. Choke points make things easy to explain and understand: Flock to these spots and kill stuff.

You might be able to solo a door on your trapper, but surprise! The guy who thinks the word "you" only has one letter in it and his SG buddy who was lf trialz followed you over to that door and now they is helpin.

Seriously though, this is something I've encountered several times- One person goes to lock down a certain door on their own because they think they're being helpful, and then others follow them and take damage away from where it should be concentrated for overall effectiveness.
  20. I disapprove of this thread and all other threads that perpetuate the idea of using the 'doors' method instead of choke points on a BAF.

Oh, I'm just glad that it's not a "do it all in one try" badge.

And Sooner: Aside from the Nightmares, which I really don't mind because it literally just means you need to keep doing normal runs of the trial, I think the badges for UG, MoM and TPN are great. They don't really require any special tasks like Keyes and Lambda do... They pretty much are awarded for running the trials efficiently and having everyone on the league understand how the trials themselves work.

    Human-Only WS?

See, I never use fluffies when I solo AV's because of the fact that they aren't controllable. They are more likely to kill my buff food and make my Mires suffer than they are to attack my target... That's assuming that they don't just die, like they usually do. It just seems counter intuitive to even attempt to use them to me, when I have the personal DPS to down high level AV's on my own anyways.

    Quote:
It wasn't until they randomly closed into melee and got caught in an unlucky spin attack that I had to start dragging her spawn to spaw to wear her down. All in all, still pretty easy given no mentionable S/L defense. I think I used 4 small purples during the fight though I question if I even needed them as there was plenty of time where I let them lapse. So S/L AV solo with no S/L defense, check.
The more time you spend healing yourself off of bodies the more bodies you need to provide yourself with, which means A.) Killing your buff food faster and B.) Interrupting your attack chain more frequently. The end result is that it takes longer than it should and/or you aren't able to pump out consistent DPS needed to solo high level AV's. Even if they aren't pure lethal damage like Bobcat (iirc) is, they're still bound to have attacks that are at least part smashing or lethal damage, like just about every enemy group in the game.

That being said, the instance you used solo'ing the last two zeus titans in a spawn, I figured I'd grab a Malta mission and find a spawn with two of them. It took long enough to solo the spawn that eclipse, mire, unchain and judgement was up for each spawn.
That's... Not good. I usually alternate Judgement and Unchain every other spawn, sometimes not having a nuke handy at all until clean up time. Orbiting Death reactive and proc'd out does good AOE damage, if you aren't spending a lot of time mitigating and healing you can generally focus your ST chain on bosses and let OD kill most of the minions. By the time you're through with the bosses you'll have some adds scattering, which is why the nukes are nice- They take out the extras before you can suffer from a lack of a taunt aura (*shakes fist at lack of a taunt aura*)

    Quote:
Walked in, eclipsed/mired leveled everything then started to work on the bosses. Managed to drop the first titan just around the time eclipse went down.
It took you 90 seconds to kill one boss? That is not good. Really not good. What is your attack chain?
  23. Nah, they made it clear ahead of time that this will be a permanent, content changing kind of thing.
  24. I'm still missing a couple of the nightmares on my Brute on Virtue but I have all the other badges.. And he's still missing News Flash on TPN but has all the rest.
  25. According to this, Statesman will be dying in 2012. That means that we have until the end of this month to kill him ourselves one last time!

On Saturday December 31 at 5 PM est I would like to organize a Lord Recluse Strike Force to say bon voyage, get outta here, this is villain territory, you're not welcome, etc. to Statesman in as many different ways as possible- Mainly by beating the crap out of him.

So, bring out your most diabolical villains for this! Sign up here.
