A case could be made for science. Just add a third element. Some "radioactive isotope" that was accidentally ingested then reacted with the UV radiation being soaked up after so long in the sun to grant powers. WHAM-O! Science bio for the guy.

Lifeguards do have to have SOMEthing to drink while they're working to stay hydrated. Especially if they're out in the sun all day.

Technically, the climate does warm up, so it would be true. however, cases can be made that humans are not responsible.

Also, the climate does cool down as well. Hence the use of "Climate change" instead of "Global Warming". The scientists are tired of crying "Global Warming" then watching the coolest temps on record happen. The changing their cry to "Global Cooling" then watching the hottest temps on record occur.

I swear the weather is doing that just to make them look like fools. Same thing is does to the weather forecasters...

That's because there isn't any downside to jumping off the Atlas Globe. If you suffered 10x debt, or had to delete the character I'd bet there would be fewer people jumping off the Globe.
